Sooo,

As we enter the final few months of the football season, the standard scramble to avoid relegation, get that last play-off space or just fanny around in midtable begins.

Obviously we've already threads focusing on who's going up and down from league 2 - so let's see what's happening either side -

From league 1 -
27 - Coventry - 17 from safety - basically down
33 - Chesterfield - haha - 10 points from safety - same goes - though they've a decent record of escaping the drop
36 - Swindon - equally struggling - 7 points from safety - hard to see them stopping up
38 - Port Vale - 5 points from safety - but with 3 games in hand.

Above the zone - 43 - Oldham & Shrewsbury, 44 - Bury and MK Dons are all in a spot of bother from Port Vale in the relegation spot.

From the conference -
72 - Lincoln - top of the league - 3 points ahead of Forest Green - with 2 games in hand.
69 - Forest Green - as above but in reverse
67 - Dagenham and Tranmere
62 - Gateshead

Dover, Aldershot and Barrow are all just outside the playoffs with a good chance if they've a decent run.

Who would you like to see up and down?

If you guys could take Gateshead, we'd appreciate it.

Would be nice to have a local game, so Gateshead would be preferred. Lincoln or Tranmere with them

Coventry, Swindon and Vale would all be new ground for me so them please. Chesterfield and Lincoln as they're both local obviously and Gateshead for a decent weekender!

Anyone but Forest Green again!

I assume that if Lincoln come up they could be a player next year as I assume they will have got a fair chunk of FA Cup money behind them, if they spend it wisely on a few old heads.

Fairly boring set of potential fixtures for us next season, only Gateshead or Barrow appeal.

Assuming that we're going to be okay now, Chesterfield and Lincoln joining us is sound and we can have our own little East Midlands mini league with them and Mansfield. Coventry is also a nice, easy one but a pretty soul destroying experience. All of the other options from League One are places that i've been and aren't great, so whatever, Sheridan can get relegated the massive penis.

The four in the relegation zone of league 1 presently would be good. All are reasonable journeys from here and it'd be good to have a few more clubs from the midlands to balance up the league. All would be decent sized clubs at this level too so should be some decent away followings.

I want Lincoln to come up as they've had a marvellous season and seem to be a "nice" side though I can see them going straight through. Aside from them, I'd like Tranmere back as they're a league club really though I'd accept Dagenham on purely geographical reasons.

I'm fine with Coventry, Chesterfield and Swindon, but would rather Oldham or Bury come down instead of Port Vale. MK would obviously be my first choice but there's not a great chance of that happening.

Connie-wise is a bit harder as while I think Lincoln will win the title, I'm almost sure FGR will finally make it this year through the play offs. I can only hope they can better last year's very poor effort of taking only 4000 fans to Wembley though I won't hold my breath. If they fail again, then I'm not sure who I'd like to see come up as Tranmere are a proper league side while Dagenham is a good away day. Dover - no thank you, while Barrow is a good old fashioned ground so wouldn't mind them tbh.

Don't want Barrow up. Yeah it's another team from Cumbria but what a shit hole. Shit ground, shit town, shit (long) train journey. No thanks.

I'd quite like Tranmere as its an alright away day but I think they'll be a force once they get their act together and back up, so maybe not.

It makes Accrington Stanley's ground look like the San Siro

Coventry, Oldham, Chesterfield an Vale down.

Only really Tranmere appealing from the teams in contention from the league below.

All assuming we stay up which we should.

SHOULD we stay up (which barring an almighty collapse we will but I don't want to be too over confident) I would be delighted with Swindon (my local game), Vale (obvious reasons) and Coventry (good record there) being in our league. I'd have swapped Chesterfield for Shrewsbury too but that seems very unlikely.

I live 25 miles from Forest Green's ground yet I don't want them anywhere near League Two. The definition of a shite awayday bar none. That said, if they went up I'd still probably do it. Lincoln would be a great new ground and great day out for me and Tranmere is always a good day out and I'd sink a few in the Mersey Clipper (though I believe it's changed name since I last went). Gateshead, Dover and Barrow would be long treks that I'd be mad enough to do for the new ground factor whilst Aldershot and Dagenham are ones I've done before but I'd do again as they're localish and I've not been both for years.

We've never played Coventry City, Tranmere Rovers or Oldham Athletic in our history so those 3 would be good. I'm pretty certain Lincoln City will be in League 2 next season anyway.
The other clubs that are in the League 1 relegation zone are pretty unexciting although they'd all bring a decent following to the Hive. I'd just want the Franchise to come down, to further illustrate the bankruptcy of Winkleman's project.

Yeah, but Barrow is like Grimsby, it's that crap it's actually alright.

Had a few alright trips there.

The main problem with Barrow is that whatever time of year you go, it's always bloody freezing, and that's coming from someone who goes to Blundell Park every other week!

I remember we went there once towards the end of April when there was a heatwave all over the country and it was still bloody freezing!

As Frealaf said though, I'm not too fussed about who's in League 2 next season, just as long as it's not FGR or Gateshead and although I have absolutely nothing against Lincoln, it would be quite funny to see them implode this season.

No Franchise please, otherwise I don't mind. I don't believe we've ever played FGR in a competitive fixture so I wouldn't mind them - traditionally they've had at least one Wycombe reject in their ranks over the last few seasons, although that doesn't seem to be the case currently.

Aye, we had them in April the season we went up and there was still snow on the hills behind the ground.

Barrow won't be coming up anyway, they don't look like they'll be making the play-offs.
I reckon the second promoted club will be one of Tranmere Rovers, FGR or Daggers.
Daggers is at least a local match and we'd be saying hello to John Still.
FGR would be a new club in the league, we'd be saying hell to Keanu Marsh-Brown and it's situated in a lovey part of the world.
As I said before, we've never played Tranmere in our history.

FGR would be good for us since we could actually get to an away match for a change instead of having to charter a plane and learn a new language.

Soooo....

Lincoln won 2-1 with 2 late, late goals to beat Torquay to pretty much secure their place here next season - they're 5 clear of tranmere and a game in hand - tranmere have 12 to play for.

Coventry were relegated this afternoon after drawing and Chesterfield are also down though not yet mathematically.
