With 30m being banded around for Deeney and Mane currently, might sound mad but of the two I think I'd prefer Deeney! Not as naturally talented, but more effective and consistent. Both valuations are crazy though and it's probably a sign of things to come.

We're in a boring old international break again, so let's remind ourselves of this humorous post.

Let's be honest Harv. Liverpool are getting much more out of Mane in both quality and certainly in consistency than your lot managed, from what I can see.

Obviously that's a whole team there working well which will help. Never doubting his talent, but he was widly inconsistent for you - you must admit that. I wasn't sure if he could become reliable. In my comparison, Deeney is the ever reliable and trusted performer.

Credit to Klopp for getting consi the system and the man management. Potential and moments of quality are one thing, but so far he's moving beyond that and moving beyond what Saints could bring from him.

As for Deeney, he'd walk into Saints' side this season wouldn't he? ;) I'd certainly love him.

Mane was the star of our team which finished 6th in the league last season. It was obvious to most Southampton fans he'd look better in a team that had Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino alongside him than some of the players he was playing with for us.

As for Deeney, our current attack requires more dynamic forward players. Why Pelle wouldn't work in it and Austin had to go on a scoring run to get a start.

Besides, all of our forward players bar Austin are those that can do everything apart from putting the ball in the net, so we don't need Deeney to add to that list. Thank you very much!

I'd rather not lose Sturridge, he's the best player we have for throwing on when we need a goal if the usual 3-4 players havent produced the goods after an hour or so (rare I know, but it will happen sometimes). But he's too good not to be starting so I can understand his frustration. He signed a long term contract only two years ago so I'd expect at least £30m for him given the silly prices for average talent going around recently. And he's not average.

His people after smoking out other interest. If he goes it'll be the summer, not January with Ings out & Sadio at the AFCON.

January was never on the cards. Only players clubs want to offload ever go mid season, and that isn't Sturridge.

No way Sturridge is leaving in January, Mane will be away for a month and Ings is dead.

Give us Sturridge after all we've done for you in the past, cheers.

It'll be a brave manager that ends up taking a risk on such an injury prone player.

Perhaps. But it's offset by the fact that he's one of the best strikers in the country when not injured. Set a team up properly to play to his strengths (something which would never happen under Klopp, hence why Sturridge is thinking of leaving) and he could easily bag 20 league goals a season, short of injury. There are definitely managers who would take a chance on his injury issues for that payback.

I hope for his sake and England's sake that whichever side picks him up manages to get to the bottom of his injury problems. There's been a lot of suggestion that there is a mental aspect to it which could be worked on. Someone willing to build around him, as you mentioned, might be more inclined to put that sort of time into him.

His injury niggles finally seem to be behind him and he has been fit mostly for the whole calender year; perhaps finally having people in who know what they are doing on injury, recovery and bringing them back into the fold has something to do with it.

Bellerin has just signed a new long-term contract. Good lad. He's earned it, and I'm chuffed to see him play another two years before we have to renegotiate another contract amid Barcelona interest.

Liverpool are preparing a January bid for Celtic star Moussa Dembele which could be worth up to £20million. Liverpool will offer £10m up front for Celtic's Moussa Dembele with the same in add ons based on appearances and success. Klopp has sent scouts to watch Celtic's Dembele on 5 occasions and has received glowing reports. [Glasgow Live]

West Ham preparing a 25m January bid for Callum Wilson?

Weird reports, nah, can't see it right now. Gotta keep SSN busy somehow I guess.

Nothing
We'll naturally be linked with every half decent striker this Jan with Zaza's loan surely ended early, and Sakho-Carroll the two headed sicknote.

Market inflation aside, that would be an huge fee for Wilson...
