I'm still waiting for the previous 'massive signing' Eastleigh were going to make.

Starting to think they turn up at the ground, think 'no amount of money could compensate for this' and leave.

EDIT: Oh wait, just remembered that was Lafayette. Hopefully this one lives up to such high standards.

What I want to know is, how much do they have to pay the club for this vision they get sold? I mean, that's how sales work isn't it? When you get sold something, your the one handing over the money? Right? :bdick:

One man & his dog?
Home avg of 1,700 last season, which was more than over half the teams in this division.

Q.Does a player sign for a club that is clearly on the up, paying reasonably well, that has a Vision and a plan to continue taking the club forward with a genuine chance at promotion this year, or does a player sign for a club on a down slope with no vision or realistic strategy of how they are going to win promotion, within the time frame of the players contract at a club?
A. It's a no brainer, no matter how much you all bleat about it.
The other thing to factor in here is that, Eastleigh only have a certain geographical pull with players who will play at this level, so even if they prefer to sign for a Grimsby, or a Halifax, if they live South or East of London and aren't quite good enough for L2, then we are going to be an obvious choice.

I don't especially want to have a huge dig at Eastleigh, but let's be honest, your average attendance is massively propped by a couple of games. Macc at home for example, where 1500 tickets were bought by a new sponsor. Free entry against FGR only attracted 1200.

Fair play to your chairman for trying to get new fans to support Eastleigh, but not all clubs especially at Conference level can afford to have free games etc.

And when your owner purchases the rest of Oxford United you'll be on a downward slope.

"The Vision" did it again. The L2 signing will be announced shortly.

L2 signing captured leaving the contract negotiations with his newly acquired vision....

Ermm, down one division back to where we always were before he bought us?
Playing in the Conf South wouldn't bother me in the slightest. At least 8 of the clubs in this division are at threat of relegation every season. If he walked away, we would be one of those 8. Whoopy doo's, we can live with that.

of course, but even if you discounted those 2 games (and by the way, we were not the only club who offered free/reduced admission games in this division). We would still have a better average than at least 8 teams in this league.
Wait until you meet Borehamwood!!!
They literally only get 150-200 at home games and do not take any more than 5 fans to away games in the Conf South. I strongly suspect that there will be at least 18 away games at this level where they will take ZERO fans away. And you think we are a bankrolled tinpot village team.... They sign Arsenal Reserve/Academy players on Loan. I can't say how much of their salaries they are paying, but you know what Arsenal reserves get paid, right?

No, why would anyone know how much Arsenal's reserves get paid?!

No one needs to be in and out of boardrooms.
Talk to directors of football clubs, they generally answer your questions honestly, as they want to feel important to you and will tell you all kinds of truths.

To be fair, you've just described the rationale of a psychopath. Or a politician.
Try this sentence and see if the logic still works:
"they generally answer your questions dishonestly, as they want to feel important to you and will tell you all kinds of lies."

Politicians yes, but football club directors are not politicians.
FCD's fall into 3 brackets.
1) Genuine football men who are putting money into a club - These are very honest men & will tell you the truth.
2) Egotistical people - These are show offs and will exaggerate their own importance & tell you lots of untruths.
3) Buisinessmen who couldn't give a toss about the football club - they are in it for the money they will make - Never ever trust these people.

Thankfully, at this level, at least 80% of football club Owners/Directors, fall into the first bracket.

As your an expert on football club directors and I'm not, I can't imagine what category yours will fall into, can you help me out?

Yeah, I think 99% would agree with that.

ST is certainly a priority, without doubt. We can't go into the season with only two senior ones, one of which isn't much of a goal scorer and the other hasn't played that many games over the last 2 or 3 seasons.

If the budget stretches, a CB would be next on my list to partner Waterfall and then another wide player, although recruitment thus far suggests we'll not be playing with wingers contrary to suggestions that we would at the end of last season.
