Why? He's a beast, best centre back I saw at Ashton Gate last season.
He is a beast there's no doubt about it, one of the best centre backs in the division. Trouble is we're paying him 25k a week and he spends more time injured than fit. Not to mention he doesn't want to be at the club. We can't go spending big money on fees or wages anymore. It's why Whittingham and Pilkington are most likely leaving as well.

Some leaked infomation out of the club this evening regarding interest from Chelsea and Arsenal for Helder Costa. We have no chance of keeping him if they make a move.

Linked with another Irish lad, Sean Maguire from Cork.

22yr old striker who bagged 29 last season and has 8 in 7 this season.

We're interested in Conor Mahoney from the Plastics, out of contract in the summer.

Never seen him play. Hope it happens though just to see the hissifit there fans would throw at little old Preston signing one of their best youngsters.

Tony's already rubbished it, and if they do go for it, I think Hodge may be closer to the mark than he may think. We don't need to sell, if they want him they'll need to cough up some serious money, which would be silly really, as you could get a better/similar striker for much less than that. :dk:

Lansdown did the same, said that Kodjia wouldn't be sold but as soon as his agent got in his ear he was swiftly off. We didn't need to sell either, but you get forced into it with player power now. Probably would be a daft fee, as if £15m wasn't already enough.

Exactly. If we paid £15million, and he's proved his worth, he's worth a lot of money to us, and this is why I said double that would probably be where we'd consider a chat.

Knock him off for £30million if he plays the tit, we've got Hogan any way, and we can easily find a replacement for that money. Could probably buy fucking Benteke back for not much more than that ffs.

Tbf it was Kodjia requesting not to play that caused Lansdown to say sell, Villa may handle it differently should the same thing happen.

Never usually ends well though does it? Players hold all the power nowadays.

Yeah but they're in a better position to turn down £15m bids given its what they paid, to us it was an astronomical amount of a received fee so a lot harder to turn down even if we didn't want to sell.

I'd like to keep Russell but also think he needs a new challenge for his personal career, he's had a stale Season. .

It would be daft money mind, 3 million plus.

Steve McLaren linked to being DOF and interested in bringing Johnny Russell with him.
Would that be a good move for your recruitment? Presumably could be some differences between who Wagner wants and McLaren? I'm very wary of players being brought in above the manager. Seemingly happened at Boro which didn't please Karanka, and we've been left with loads of shite from Cellino and co's foreign policy. May have got Berardi out of it, who to be fair is an absolute hero, but it definitely set us back a year or two, cramming in below-par players with poor attitudes.

We had that this summer. Most of out signings were made by superagent Jorge Mendes, not Walter Zenga... it worked out well for poor Walter...

We had a new DoF this Summer (our old long term one joined West Brom) who was responsible for almost all of our signings in the Summer, best transfer window we've had in years.

We've had this model for almost 20 years now though, so managers should expect it and know how to work with it. Not that they cannot recommend/sign their own players if available.

Although our new DoF was also partly responsible for bringing in Stam, so there was already a link. They weren't two strangers.

Our last 2 DoF's (or 'Head of Football Operations' as we word it) have been great for us, both have been poached by bigger clubs, but both were relatively unknown young blokes, so McLaren would be a bit different. I've never seen him as the joke that many interpret him to be. All paper talk at the moment though and I'm sure McLaren's agent will make sure he's constantly in the papers so he's not forgotten.

As for Russell we certainly wouldn't be spending £3m on any player whilst we're in this division. That's nearly twice our record!

If you mean Stuart Webber he wasn't really unknown. You got him us (offered him a better role) and we got him from QPR and before that, Liverpool. He has worked his way up the ladder quite nicely though.

Being linked with Josh Scowen on a free in summer. What a signing that would be.

Us and Florist "battling" it out to sign Jordan Spence from Ipswich, I for one certainly hope we lose that battle.

Have to agree, would be very uninspiring if he'd be coming in as first choice, would rather offer Little a new deal

I've been asking a few German friends about the Stuttgart forward we're being linked with by a few sources, Terrode. They had nothing but good things to say but would be surprised if he will give up a chance to play in the Bundesliga next season (VFB are top of B2) to play in the Championship.
They reckon we could get him for around £2M.
