Dempster won't recover from this if we lose Saturday. Plymouth will beat us and that will be 4 defeats in a row. Can't believe we didn't sack him after last night. 4 nil at home. Embarrassing.

Is it too early for the Notts County, were coming to get you...

Massive massive improvement needed.

How's Conor Kirby been getting on for you?
Got a run of starts due to injuries and he's certainly holding his own so far, actually he probably had his best game for us last night. Decent on the ball and his defending/pressing when not in possession is coming on nicely as well.

To say we didn’t deserve anything is to say Salford deserved to win which is a ridiculous comment. Most possession, most shots, 9 (!!) corners. We deserved a point at the very least.

Salford scored we didnt

Been away for a while, my welcome home present a 3-0 home defeat to Colchester. A lot on our forum said it was a much deserved win by a strong, powerful side. We started well but seemed to fade after about 20 minutes which is a little worrying.

I watched the weekend win against Macclesfield where we were very good. Cambridge away will be a good test to see if Tuesday was merely a blip, or something more terminal.

We were beaten by a decent Exeter side. We created nothing going forward for the most part but defended well until a 10 minute spell before their first goal.

Williams came on for them and completely changed the game for them and it just shows the difference between squad depths of a top 3 side and a mid table one.

Still, I’m quite happy with how we have started the season and if we can keep up our home form then I’m sure we will be a top half side which is a lot better than the last few seasons.

That 4h official in the Grimsby game can do one, cost me 400 quid the little fcuker. I was taking a little break from betting but I thought I'd do a quick acca at around 7.30pm.

I do take part of the blame though as I was planning on a 4 game acca, but I got greedy and added a couple of BTTSs - the Grimsby game and Crawley v Plymouth, something that I never do as IMO BTTS is much more harder to predict than it may seem at first. FFS.

The Salford goalie has got to take part of the blame as well for that save on Waterfall in added time.

To be fair squad depth would be difficult for most teams at this level with the players we had missing and unfit. Four key players out, two adequate replacements, having to debut a centre half at right back, give a first league start in any professional form to Jake Taylor and playing Worrall who was limping to see out the minutes Saturday as we’d used all subs and Rhys Browne who was forced to play 70 minutes Saturday after months out and then another 70 yesterday... he was rapid Saturday but could barely sprint yesterday!

I’ve never known it as bad as that yesterday injury wise, since that game 15 years ago against Tranmere when Andy Porter had to come out of retirement to make an XI! (Won that one mind)

Over riding thought though is why so many muscular injuries?!

Good game at Crawley yesterday. Argyle were very good but we just kept battling away, refusing to buckle and at the end we had chances to win it. That would have been unfair though as Argyle deserved to win.
Our keeper, Morris, made some top notch saves to keep it to nil but could do nothing about the two goals in quick succession. I thought we had lost then but a refusal to stop doing good things got us a penalty. In front of me and it was a pen.

Duff quietly going about his business well at Cheltenham. Mentioned on our forums over the last 10 days or so and certainly one to watch out for over the coming seasons.

Not only is he in the wall, he backs into them to make way for the shot which could also be deemed a foul. All players would have sat down at the start of the season to go over the new rules so not sure why Grimsby fans are so agitated?

We also ask what's the point of the 4th official if he doesn't get involved. He does for once, to make the correct decision and we're up in arms.
Bet you never get invited to parties.

Yes of course you didn't..how is your search going?

It was posted on one of our boards during the Rochdale game that it was Mansfield that were approaching Taylor, something about speaking to a youth player mentioning that the academy manager (JD) going back to that role and Mr Radford was looking to get someone else in as he is out of his depth. So I am fairly sure we were never trying to get Taylor in, only main targets were Ainsworth, Flynn, Appleton and possibly Sol.

Appleton should be confirmed today at Lincoln.

Worst one I ever had was a 10 team accumulator around 15(?) years ago, 9 teams won and the only one that let me down was Preston at home to Crewe which finished 0-0.
I was a bit gutted but not too bad until that night when I watched the football league highlights and saw that in injury time Preston got a penalty and the Crewe keeper fucking saved it. :hb:
Never forgotten his name, Clayton Ince i fucking hate you!

Our local rag is saying it was Lincoln. Even less reason to go to Mansfield though. Macc seem to be playing better since Sol left, not sure he is as good as some make out.

Was mentioned in our local media about it possibly being us, or possibly Southend but no reason to doubt the guy on the board. Why would he lie about it? it’s not unknown for clubs to find out if managers (or agents) are likely to be available so I am pretty sure it wasn’t Lincoln. I think the club have been on a much different different path of recruitment looking for experienced EFL managers, Taylor is hardly that yet.

If anything we've got worse since he left. He had his ups and downs last season but his recruitment this summer was pretty remarkable given the constraints behind the scenes. Definitely wouldn't begrudge him another job at this level.

Weren't you signing players without having paid the players on your books though? Not that remarkable if true. Genuinely don't know if that was true, but was definitely a rumour doing the rounds.

It was Lincoln. Taylor confirmed this at the C+F to a group of us the other day.

We've generally looked pretty decent, just struggling to put the ball away. With a bit more clinical finishing we probably ought to be in amongst the group on around 16-17 points so, having changed the forward line up a bit in midweek, hopefully that will start to click a bit now.

I remember being at that match and the completely useless fact that it was one of the only penalties Graham Alexander ever missed. Scored 77 in his career according to Google. Just to make you feel better.

Clayton Ince was fucking ace though.

I too was at that game and, as Clayton's neighbour for a decade, I ended up watching his penalty save in that game time and time again. I didn't realise how good Graham Alexander was at penalties at the time, but now I see why he raved about it endlessly. It wasn't a terrible penalty either, just Clayton did his homework!

He had no input in the recruitment this season. He did do a decent job though and agree with you that he definitely deserves another chance at management.
