Didn't like him that much growing up but started listening to some of his stuff over the last ten years or so and some of it is very good. His voice is totally gone now though.

I got into Bowie through this game called Omikron: The Nomad Soul, I remember it being freaky, weird, brilliant and one of the earliest games I played where it felt I had freedom to explore and choose my path. He provided a lot of songs for it and every now and again you'd wander into a canteen where he'd perform his songs. Beware Nineties graphics, and strange movements!!
