I'd be amazed if we weren't selected for at least one game tomorrow when they announce the new set of fixtures to be televised.

Good news, I was right PNE is our first TV game. Bad news, they've decided not to use Sunday, gave Villa Newcastle the Saturday slot and shunted us to Friday night. That'll be half our away attendance down the drain. Nice one Sky!

How many do you think you'll bring down to us?

Not sure, it's a right trek but with it being the first game and off the back of last season, I'd be disappointed if we couldn't manage at least 1k.

Didn't think we'd be on, guessing our game against Cardiff will probably be moved to early on the Saturday and get shown.

You should still sell 3-4000 surely?

27 August - Brighton (H) @ 17:30
10 Sept - Derby (A) @ 17.30
24 Sept - Villa (A) @ 17.30

To be fair, those three are all games you'd expect Newcastle to be on for normally so no real claims of sky being biased.

Why would you expect Newcastle to be on Sky against Brighton?

I can only go off history. Last time we had a Friday TV game was Bolton 2 years ago and we only took 2500 although we were in the relegation zone. Just frustrating because I'd have banked on 4k+ if it were a Saturday teatime. Now to be honest unless we're doing well at the time I'd be surprised if we broke 3k. Hopefully trains home and our first visit back to Deepdale in ages sways people to turn up. It'll be a great atmosphere though.

Team relegated vs team who finished 3rd last season, not hard to see why there would be interest in it. Also how many would the away side be expected to take?

They'd have probably sold it out if it wasn't on Sky.

Talking about a 5 hr plus drive, or over a 4hr train journey for a decent away allocation I'd expect, questionable. Regardless however of how many they'd expect to sell, I'll still expect most of the relegated clubs vs last years play off teams games to be on tv.

Without derailing the thread, for a club that average 25k+ at home and will be challenging in the top six I'd expect them to sell 3.5k at St James. We did last time they were down here, and we will next season. A few from Brighton will be flying up, like I will be.

Cardiff on a Friday night, utter c***.

Edit: no trains directly to Cardiff that night either. Sigh.

Bit gutted we've only got the one but I was anticipating Leeds away moving and I'm pretty pleased as I gambled and got my hotel sorted for the Saturday night.

Had a feeling they'd be a lot of Wolves matches on with the takeover being announced since the last games were released. Four games!

Must be a bad set of fixtures on Nov 5th if our game against Brighton was picked

What's not to like about that? :D

OK, 2 of the 4 matches are against PL relegated Teams. But I am more than happy about it.

Wolves vs Derby must be the most televised game in world football...

Home and away year after year...
