Canvey island were quite small as well
Canvey is big enough to have it's own political party, with a county councillor and 16 District Councillors. Their ground has bigger capacity than 5 of this season's National League clubs - including the massive Barrow AFC. Some of the caravan sites are probably bigger than North Ferriby and certainly shift more lager. The home of Dr Feelgood and inspiration for "Down by the Jetty" should never be considered quite small.

Excuse my geography but where exactly is North Ferriby?

Canvey Island, a, erm, much missed venue.

Can get quite windy at their ground from what I remember, what with it being basically open at the end facing the estuary (the small uncovered away terrace). The late Matt Gadsby (RIP) scored a wind assisted goal from near the half way line in one of our games there. Nice portacabins as well.

Current National League winners odds at Coral:

FGR 5/1f
Eastleigh 6/1
Tranmere 13/2
Wrexham 7/1
York 10/1
Dover 14/1
Dagenham & Redbridge, Gateshead16/1
Lincoln, Barrow, Macclesfield 20/1
Braintree 25/1

Very surprised Eastleigh are 2nd favourites, to me it seems a straight shootout between FGR and Tranmere for the title.

That we're longer than an absolute abortion of a York side that would have struggled a division lower last season is a bit of a joke, but never mind.

Eastleigh won't be anywhere near again unless they change their entire ethos and properly start again.

Dover won't even be top 10.

There's likely to be barely any of that squad left in all fairness, Flinders perhaps, Winfield maybe (he may leave too), Berrett too. Maybe Galbraith. Only two of them were really involved and frankly Winfield was one of the only really decent players in that squad. Berrett just didn't get games but he was always decent when he did.

I don't need to remind you Crazy that we finished 13th and 19 points off the play-offs, I don't think we can grumble with those odds too much.

Am expecting Danny Cowley to get us a lot nearer this next season, whether it's going to be enough to get us in and around the play offs, who knows as we haven't even signed any new players yet.

Got to say I'm a bit surprised that we're as far as 40/1 and could be a decent outside bet. None of us are expecting miracles but with Waddock in charge, I think we'll either be top 7 or bottom 7 and not in between.
Also surprised Torquay are 33/1, they could be a worth couple of quid considering their incredible revival.

I'm not, at all, I'm just saying York should not be in front of us.

I did, thanks.

Odds aren't an exact science, but more often than not the sides that have just come down will be among the favourites. Same goes for Dagenham.

We're in the middle of the pack for odds (33/1). I'd take middle of the pack come May!

Oh come on. If CrazyImp wants to take the May 29th odds as FACT, then let him.

Based on what? That we were absolute shite last season? Like I said, we've shed 90+% of our squad, if anything you should be annoyed we're above you when nobody really knows what our squad will even resemble. Last season will have absolutely no bearing on this, we've not been stuck with people on bloated contracts. Perhaps we will recruit a bunch of shite (I suspect we will), but the bookies will be taking into account we'll have a whole new squad and given us "just relegated" bounce which I am sure they've applied to Dagenham as well. Yeah it is stupid, but it's what they do.

Dagenham look great value at 16/1 with John Still as manager! Wouldn't surprise me if they do a "Cheltenham". Dover look way underpriced and wouldn't touch Brabins Tranmere with a barge pole at 13/2 either!

I don't agree about Dagenham. I doubt they'll do better than top 10.

Well I do -- Having seen them last game of the season.I reckon they will surprise quite a lot of teams next season.

Top 3 in the betting look spot on to me.

We were head and shoulders above everyone left here from last season, will hopefully keep all our best players and have a serious upgrade in manager, who will add extra quality to what we've already got. I'll be stunned if we're not right up there.

Tranmere probably have the best squad and will add even more quality to it, with a better manager they'd be favourites. With Brabin I think they'll be up there in the top 2 or 3 but probably wont do enough to win it.

Be funny if it ends up being a straight fight between ourselves and Eastleigh for the title, the BELT's would love that....

What's a BELT? Other than something that holds me strides up.

It's far too early to really say but of course on paper Forest Green and Tranmere will be the favorites, both have strong squads and will yet strengthen. Of course Tranmere's question mark is there manager who has a track record of failure in this division. The two sides relegated from the league should do well considering the budgets they will come down with, I'd also fancy Gateshead and Wrexham to improve with Lincoln an outside bet for promotion.
