I heard your gaffer on BBC Nottingham and I’m sure he said he did it to try and get him past our press.

I kind of get the logic but most of me thinks ‘he’s got the most assists in the country and arguably been the best player in the division, maybe leave him where he is?’.

all you had to do is look at flint and realise why we’ve conceded 8 in 14 home games

The bullet header into his own net, in particular, just screamed ‘clean sheets’!

He undoubtedly has the quality to hurt us, even with Ollie Clarke chasing him down all game so I tend to agree, his attitude really let you lot down in the second half imo.

Phantom goal it was never over the line. If you came on here without watching the game you’d be thinking county battered us when in reality they had 1 shot on target and kept just chucking themselves on the floor every two minutes.

Maynard out of his depth

You know what you’re right about our pitch - we only scored 1 against you with our turnips but scored 4 at your place.

Clearly missing a trick.

Cheers for the input though!!

Exactly. Good pitch, good footballing side = 4 goals.

Awful pitch , good footballing side = 1 goal.

There is a clear connection.

Probably worth Me Radford spending some money after the season ends.

He clearly had ability, but wouldn’t be the type clough would want.

Interesting how the mystery manager will adept to him.

Has anybody suggested that? Nobody battered either side. 1 shot on target, hit woodwork twice and one big missed opportunity with bad decision making at key time. That was out lot.

Mansfield got the vital goal and ultimately that's all that matters but hard to convince anybody who saw the game that they were worthy winners based on chances/spurned opportunities.

I just knew you would be more clinical as soon as we come into town.

Watched the livestream so it's not quite like being there but I thought we were a bit unfortunate not to get a point.
Stags defended very well, two solid blocks and although pretty basic it's plenty good enough for L2 and you'll always be top 7 playing like that.
I'm actually quite hopeful for us. Warner an improvement on Brindley in defence, Robertson improving game on game and looked pretty good in midfield, Baldwin bang on form and Stone seems to have settled down a bit in goal.
Didn't think flipping the wingers worked, it left Langstaff with little to feed off.
Maynard has had two tough games to start with and I would imagine he's learned a lot. Like Williams his problem is our bench. Get Scott back and Jatta and that changes but as it is there's nobody to get you a goal.

I thought he kept going, just wasn’t his day. They’re never given so I’m by no means claiming it was or anything, but I don’t really get why the challenge when Jones put that one over when he was through on goal isn’t an automatic penalty. Have kind of always thought this, but he got the shot away and then Flint basically chopped him in half diving in to try and block it. If that’d been after a pass in midfield it would’ve been the most automatic free-kick and yellow card ever, so I don’t really know why it doesn’t apply in the box, but it is at least the same for everyone.

JR been on the wine

I presume that was to do with the Matt Salmon trophy?

He barely tried in the second half, too busy feeling sorry for himself. I agree re when Flint slid in to him post shot, maybe the referees just go off the fact it’s out of play or will be in a second.

had a cursory glance at twitter and the state of Notts fans is embarrassing - moron central.

Nonsensical vague criticisms of the manager and how he talks in interviews from weirdos that can’t even compose a 10 word tweet correctly and our right back who has scored 5 in 5 and been largely superb for 18 entire months now being the worst footballer on Earth.

Notts County are back baby.

I’ve actually been impressed(ish) with what Maynard’s done so far. We look far less open, and I don’t think he’s had the luxury of any of our ‘star’ forwards having a great individual game under him yet.

Definitely get some of the criticism of things in general though. 14 points from 14 games is relegation stuff, and we feel a bit too self-congratulatory about our great ‘style of play’ to have noticed.

The stick Nemane gets is very weird. Really try to find good motives for it but it’s a struggle.

We’re fine, think he’s making us more solid and we’ve got probably a few too many players out of form without the luxury of resting/dropping them because our bench is a disgrace and basically the reason we have no right to go up this season. Decent signs over the last 2 games to build on and the Gambian Haaland to touch down at East Midlands Airport any day now.

All I can say is Sutton deserve to go down for not beating us, this current crop are in my opinion worse than the 97/98 version, at least that lot didn’t pretend to be professional footballers

Maynard is going to have a tough time because Williams left at the right time in terms of his legacy as results weren't great during December and January. He could do with a win on Friday night but I'm really hoping Twitter is just being its usual bollocks and most fans have got more sense and patience.

When you see someone call him ‘lazy’ it’s so absurd there’s only one plausible explanation, but that’s been the case for years with Notts fans and many players that fit a certain description. Not a discussion for the thankfully very sensible Notts fans on this forum.

I don't think Maynard is complacent about our 'style'. He seems pretty intent on tightening us up. He needs a win to give the players confidence in him but I think he's doing okay too.

It's Mansfield isn't it, for some it means more than any other game, and people are going to get a bit hysterical if (when) we lose. I'm sure in a couple of days everyone will have calmed down.

Yeah, nothing new sadly.

Notts are in poor form? Fortunately for them the clown car that is GFC will be bumbling up from Kent in a few days to give you all a boost.

Will someone please come and collect their da’. Can’t believe I got shit for saying we keep losing this game because they’re more up for it and it means more to them. Man’s parading a trophy round the pitch.

Hahahaha fucking hell, that’s cheered me up.
The game is always played for the Matt Salmon trophy. If you don’t know who Matt Salmon is you aren’t County fans and just band waggon jumpers.
