WABLO? Not any more. Amazing to think this is the first time they've been in the bottom tier since the early 70s and it'll be their first season outside League One in 21 years. Got to think major changes are coming there. Have they sorted their ownership funding issues out, or are they still a basket case?

Given the scenario of only needing to match Rochdale's result and with who both were playing, that is one serious fuck up from Oldham to end up relegated today.

Will be interesting if they are like us in 2008... first year at this level in decades we assumed we would piss it.... early home beastings by Accrington and Macc Town soon brought us down to earth!

Nope, in fact I think we're all down here now. If I remember right, it was Oldham, MK Dons, Colchester, Carlisle, Tranmere and Crewe. Hopefully Tranny come up and we'll all be reunited.

I wouldn't necessarily count us, since I started supporting us in 2001 we were relegated to L1 in my first season, promoted to the Championship in my second, then had 3 seasons each in Champ, L1, L2, 4 seasons in L1 and now about to start our third season in L2.

Swap Yeovil for us and that'd be completely accurate when you add in Walsall too.

Maybe not Crewe then, but I think the rest of those mentioned were in the 8 seasons and above category.

Doesn't feel like we've been in League Two all that long, yet this division must have a much larger turnover than the one above, as I've just checked, and of the teams currently confirmed for next year, we would be joint 3rd, behind Mansfield and Newport in joint first, and level with Stevenage (who were relegated alongside us) and Cambridge. If Exeter don't win the playoffs then they will remain the longest serving League Two team.

Strange really as I've still even this season been thinking of us a team recently relegated from League One, yet of the 24 teams in the division this season, 8 have been in League One more recently than we have, and three of the ones who we've been up there more recently than have won automatic promotion this year, so there'll be at least 11 more recent next year.

Morecambe are surely the longest serving?

Us and Newport game up together. Think this’ll be our 6th season here. We’ve made a decent chance of going down in our 2nd season.

Well and truly deserved this. Shocking management at board room level over the last 10 years we really should have gone sooner.
We have a new owner in place but it remains to be seen what he will do or what his financial clout is. He didn't really get chance in January to make his mark.

We could go straight back up but in all honesty we are much more likely to do a Tranmere.

Absolutely gutted tonight

So you merged and had 22 players and still neither of you made the play offs, that really is a shit show.

We tried it, but we didn’t want it bw associated with South Wales, so went alone.

When I first started supporting us, we were promoted the first two seasons, relegated the 4th and 6th seasons iirc then had another promotion and relegation in the end day five years or so. After or relegation in 05, we did 9 seasons in the Conference and we’ll be in to our 5th in League 2 next season which is completely out of step with the 90s. Amazing we’re now seen as part of the furniture here now.

You’ve never really bothered either end though have you? We finished 22nd 3 seasons ago, and been within a shout of the playoffs the last 2 seasons.

I never quite get away followings between us 2 - between 350 and 500 this season - when we’re relatively close and easily accessable from one another

No we haven’t. We came 19th I think in our first season back and things got a bit tetchy but we were never really “in it”. Otherwise we’ve been about five points adrift of the play offs or disappointingly mid table throughout.

We’ve played Mansfield so many times in recent years that it’s lost its appeal now. I’ve been three times and all have been draws. It’s just as inspiring as others.

I reckon you'll do a Coventry, it will take a while to adjust to a division that the club hasn't seen for the best part of half a century, but 50 points is a lot for a team to go down with, by all accounts you should not have gone down with the players you had and you have the quality and goals in your team to eventually go on a much awaited winning run, and although attendances have been poor, Oldham will still be seen as one of the bigger clubs at this level.

I can only see Bury out of the relegated clubs really struggling.

We came down with Stevenage, Shrewsbury and Tranmere. The latter two went straight back up and straight down again respectively, while ourselves and Stevenage have been here ever since. We did very nearly join Tranmere in just passing through, not sure if that's ever happened, where both relegated teams are double relegations.

We were close to achieving that this season with Chesterfield!
