Oh the irony. They love to help players better themselves usually when they are with other clubs and during the course of a season, if they land it, like they did with us during a play off match against them then even better, every little helps when you can buy off the oppositions best player. So a nice bit of karma for Brendon Daniels - good luck with that 3 year deal.

We've signed Jack Deaman from Basingstoke, formerly of Telford and Cheltenham. Was on trial last week with Barrow so thought we had lost out on him. He looked very good in the friendly he played for us, so pleased with that signing.

Signed another today, James Fitzgibbon from Frome Town. Looked very good in our friendlies.

We've also got a French lad called Jean-Yves Koue-Niate on trial who has played for Cannes with Jan Koller and had a trial with Dundee United a couple of years back.

Meh, just standard PR gaffe rather than money issues.

Lots in the bank and given our matchday prices, the loss should be minimal.

Jason Walker played for a period in our friendly today, what opinions do Barrow fans have of him? Would he be a good signing for Chorley?

Don't tend to bother about pre season reports, but we have looked very strong, until Gonzalez and Carver go off...

A few fans were a bit surprised he was released - he was a game changer whenever he came on. Will still be decent in Conference North, and is always good for 6/7 penalties a season. Might want wages higher than what you're currently dishing out though - he was on £750 p/w

We lost 1-0 at home to Spalding, 2 levels below, in the Lincs Cup.
We need a striker firing and still conceding poor goals, all 5 in our 4 games avoidable

Thanks for reply, Walker only came on for about 30 minutes, he certainly won't get anything like that sort of money with us. Interesting comment though about him being a game changer.

Apologies if this has been posted anywhere already, but is there trouble brewing at Halifax? Starting an article about season tickets with "WHAT MORE CAN WE DO?" is certainly an interesting tactic to get the fans on-side.

No. It's the chairman having a pop back at the fans. Some think they haven't marketed the club enough so they've given this offer all they've got in the last few weeks, to minimal effect. Chairman probably thinks he's proved a point and is rubbing it in. This is an offer that funds itself, if enough take it up all is rosy and if they don't, the pay on the day prices recoup the losses. Loads of cash in the bank and still coming in from the Vardy and Lee Gregory sales. Sorry. :£

Jason Walker now confirmed as signed for Chorley today, then went on to miss a penalty in today's friendly at Trafford. Not on his own though, O'Keefe missed one as well!

Something must be badly wrong - Walker doesn't miss penalties! (Well, in a Barrow shirt...Luton may remember one). Think he got 21 in a row for us. His wife tweeted that he turned down more money from a League 2 club, meaning Accrington. No way is that true.

In fairness he's looked alright- easily the best of the strikers we have (not saying much though). Got a couple of goals early doors, looked decent on Saturday. Needs support though and also a defence which isn't going to concede 2 every game

Just been catching up reading through the thread. Been away for awhile. Got to say on paper with the players we lost and brought in, I wasnt so confident but watching the pre season games we definitely look alot better side this season. The full time training will help alot. Still slow on the signings front

Josh Gillies is a very good signing for Darlington, isn't he?

I'm really supporting Stockport, Altrincham and Darlington are clubs that I wanted to have in the Football League playing with Port Vale
