My birthday that. Thank fuck I'm in Crete, although I'd of been heartbroken if I was missing Heskey on the famous turf.

Am in Amsterdam the first game of the season, so I hope we don't have a home game, or anyone decent away

As mentioned earlier, today confirmed that Notts will play at Long Eaton United on Saturday 16th July, same date as Ilkeston so a split of the sides at the same time.

Any logical reason for Cambridge coming up here to play us on a Friday night?!

Probably linked to the timing of other fixtures. The match is on Fri 22/7 and we have home matches on Tues 26/7 and Fri 29/7, as well as sending a team to Braintree on 30/7. The other factor may be a training camp and friendlies in Holland 10/7 - 17/7.

I might have enjoyed some of those treats but I'm away all of July (and for the first match of the season - hopefully Crawley or Stevenage away).

9th July - Rolls Royce Leisure (A)
12th July - Carlton Town (A)
16th July - Ilkeston (A)
19th July - Alfreton Town (A)
23rd July - Edwards' testimonial against Forest (H)
26th July - Walsall (H)
31st July - Mystery opponents (H)

Probably throw a couple of XI games in, think we're meant to be playing Romulus (or some other weird team we signed Montel Gibson from) and Long Eaton. Can barely contain my excitement, here.

Who is Rolls Royce Leisure?

I thought Hucknall Rolls Royce had apparently gone bust?

Looking forward to the friendly at our place.

The same people, no idea about them though. We've got some sort of link with them to do with the academy, but i'm not sure what exactly. Has been our first game the past couple of years.

Lucky you. An overnight 'booze cruise' from Pompey and you're there.

Been hankering for similar for years, but after our ill fated trip over there in the early 90's when protesting fans (dodgy owners again) got a bit carried away, the authorities seem scared to ever organise anything similar again.

Our annual first game v Cleethorpes Town this evening. Apparently 2k tickets have been sold.

Probably to see us win the league in pre-season again...

A testimonial friendly in every sense tonight.

Cook took a full strength team over to Sligo for a former player from his time managing them.

First half they played a side full of former players (now retired) and we strolled in 3-0.

Second half Sligo played their first team.

Finished 3-3, conceding our customary late equalising goal. Trialist keeper with an error.

Chaplin scored twice. Think he could be a real force this season.

We won 5-1 at Kendal Town tonight.

Jabo Ibehre, Patrick Brough, Jamie Devitt, Mark Ellis and a trialist (Wes Fletcher) with the goals.

Wes Fletcher would be a good, cheap backup striker I think. First half keeper hasn't done himself any favours, need to be signing one soon though as we can't be going into the season with only Gillespie and the youth keepers.

I'll be at the Warrington match, think that's the only pre-season game I can make it to. Anyone make it to Kendal tonight? Sounds like we played alright with Kendal tiring second half. Looking forward to the more challenging fixtures over the next couple of weeks.

Our first game is on Saturday at Bishop's Cleeve. We used to play there every year, but that's changed over the last couple of years. It used to be played on a Friday night, with a pig roast on the go. As I used to live around the corner from their ground it was usually a great night.

Seems odd you'd go all the way down to Alfreton? You doing a scouting mission on us or something!?:2thumb:
