The pitch at Horsfall has been improved during the close season because of those very concerns and I will wait for feedback after tomorrow when Bradford City are the visitors. I wish SCFC every success in the coming season. I saw quite a few FL games between bpa and county in the 60's and I think I will one day see you regain your status before I peg it.

Doesn't read like much of a set of signings really, but I suppose they could be better than sides they played for last season

NFU got beat by NCEL side Hall Road Rangers 3-0 yesterday in first pre season in a team made up of mainly trialists.

The worrying thing is all the trialists are genuinely NCEL quality level players.

The ones we have already brought in have also been ncel/ evo stik n/s level.

Nailed on last place this season?

I think of all teams i'd say are in deep crap for me its North Ferriby and Gainsborough.

don't think Gains have improved enough on a side that was bloody fortunate last season and NFU are clearly in a position Hyde were not long ago of going into the conference then it falling apart.

its that 3rd relegation spot is interesting because every other side can claim they have improved or made correct signings etc, etc...............after that with Alty last season who knows where it could go.

but one hope there bantam is a bad pre-season never means a bad season.

Maybe I was being a bit dramatic, mainly kids and trilalists.

6 of our squad had a full season at Conference Prem level so im hoping that will work in our favour, we also had a fair number of loans from lg 1/ champ level so that could play a big role in how well we do.

Just wish we were looking at players of atleast evo stik prem quality, but with a 3rd budget cut in a row theres no way we can compete at this level.

Friendlies against Hull, Leeds and Rovrum should boost the coffers a little bit.

Think our avg attendance could actually go up this season. York, Stockport, FCUM, Darlo, Gainsborough, Boston, Kidderminister (last away game for them) should all have gates similar to last season.

Hoping Harrogate and BPA can bring a fair few aswell

Anyone recognise any of these players in bold? Never heard of any of them, assuming they are all lower league trialists or youth players

NFU (1st half): Ross Durrant, Tom Bruce, Dale Dennett, Eddie Rogerson, Mark Gray, Jordan Cooke, Simon Russell, Bobby Johnson, Leigh Hutchinson, Danny Emerton, Kallum Findlay,

NFU (2nd half): Lewis Excel, Ben Bowers, Kojo Kyei, Russell Fry, Jake Skelton, Jake Picton, Sam Ansu, Sam Walker, AN Other, Mitch Allington, Joe Pugh

Ross Durrant is a decent keeper. Had a spell at this level with Boston and was a stand out keeper at Evo Stik Premier Level with Ilkeston

Hi Everybody,
At last footy is back, off to see the lads at Shildon to see our first friendly tomorrow. I understand we have a couple of lads on trial tomorrow. This name might ring a bell in Richard Brodie now that its been confirmed he's on trial with us. I've heard good and bad?

You need to post it on transfer rumours, so more people see it and watch the forum go in to meltdown?

Honestly not sure what to make of him.Got a brilliant left foot and scores goals from all areas.
But does not run, argues with own players and manager and own crowd?
He is the only player I've been pissed off with his cheating and playing for us.
York fans will always love him for beating Luton in semi and pissing all of them off, priceless moment.

Ah, Richard Brodie. As the saying goes: 'If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and dives like a duck....

It's a fucking duck'.

Got spots of talent but the man himself is an absolute danger
You'd best steer clear, just for the squad harmony

At Stockport Town today for our first game.

Bloody tidy set up for a club so low down. Really Woodley sports should not have gone bust with this set-up.....should make lots of off field cash.

Ross Durrant signs for the season so atleast we have a keeper, turns out all those in bold apart from him are academy players and the plan is to play a fair few of them this season.

Just lost 6-0 to scunthorpe

May work out i think we shall be doing the same at Curzon although i think that is because our youth set-up won pretty much everything they could last season so manager has decided its time to blood some of them in,

we won 2-1 at Stockport Town, a Trialist scored the winner.......told he is a current international at a *cough* massive nation.......could be another sneaky Flanagan sly signing.

Spot on! He had a mare of a game, just didn't look interested at all.
Our manager is persevering with him, he must have rose tinted glasses on

He didn't show it today mate unfortunately, he looked off the pace half the time.
Overall didn't think much of Brodie he lost his temper over a Shildon defender pulling him back.
Those days are with us forever, absolutely priceless!

When was the last time Brodie was considered half-decent?
I think he broke through when he was with us on loan, and then had a couple of decent years at York and Crawley, but every time he's been back at Holker Street he's been utterly useless (and red-carded a couple of times, I think). If Wikipedia is to be trusted, his goal record is pretty awful aside from that one season when he scored 34. Seems to have made a career off that one season.

Fair play to Stuart McCall and Bradford City for bringing a first team squad yesterday even though he said beforehand the fixture was a week too early for them but it would help their neighbours. And so it proved with a gate of 2020.Top gesture from a top man.It finished 3-0.

Didn't he have a half decent season at Southport a few years back? Hes been dreadful every single time I've seen him.

He scored 12 in a season for us in 2013/14, it may not sound much but it's not a bad return for a side in a relegation battle who went through 3 managers that season. He actually looked fit and interested at that point, definitely more so than the previous season where he scored once in 18 games!

Brodie was always pretty shit, he was just a goal scorer, if you build a team around his strengths he will flourish, otherwise he offers nothing.

We made a gamble signing tonight.......could be a waste or like Morgan last season a master stroke by the manager.

Signed Rory Fallon......think its our replacement for Ryan Hall. He was extremely highly rated at FCUM 2 years back as possibly one of their most talented players, but had a really bad injury (crucial ligament) which left him quitting and spending year out of game looking at other options.

All gonna depend if injuries knackered him, will either have a crocked waste or a very talented player desperate to get back into game.......big gamble, but type Curzon will take

Oh dear, I've heard apparently our pitch won't be ready for the first two home games.
Gainsborough won't agree to switch the Wednesday night game.
But Alfreton have agreed to reverse the Saturday game.
So 4 away games to start the season, If that's the case my first 4 will be Salford, Alfreton, York and North Ferriby :ffs:

Yes as far as I know that's the plan between the two clubs. And like you say that would be ideal for yourself, indeed that was some game up at HP in Bishop.
Likewise, I enjoyed my visit to Alfreton, a few pints in the club and a walk round to the away end.
I thought how many seats, we were so jealous. As you well know our season was over at that time.
