Going to call it now the three teams defeated in this years play offs......Then Reading, Blackpool and Derby will make the top 6 next season.....Of course you can get a Portsmouth to kick on, but i honestly cannot see any one else being involved

Obviously next season not 24/25

Bold call Masi skipping right past 23/24 ;)

I wouldn’t share your optimism on any of the relegated teams to be honest. Look out for Charlton if they actually get their takeover done.

We’ve been in “transition” for around 5 years. Will be more of the the same for us next season, if not worse.

Christ let’s see who signs who first, MK would be the warning to any club flying high this season thinking next would be a cake walk.

Don’t think there will be as strong a league as next year as the three coming down don’t look overly special and there are of course off field issues in there, the sides set to come up look arguably stronger than the ones going down, Stevenage maybe the exception but expect Orient to do ok and Stockport would likely throw money at it, potentially Bradford coming up and Salford so could be a more level league than this season.

Not sure on how Derby currently look in terms of what they can spend this summer?

24/25? Wrexham and Everton will be in the top 6 battle I reckon.

This season was £8m wage budget, with a maximum of £12k a week (including bonuses) for any one player. No transfer fees or loan fees killed us as opposed to the wage budget.

I believe we’re likely to see a generous increase in our wage budget, circa £12m, with a business plan around transfer fees.

The anticipation is that there will be a lot of activity this summer, obviously the majority of it will come through free agency but hopefully we can have the freedom to sign players - even if it just allows us to get a better calibre of loan player.

Probably depends on who has points deductions then.

Few teams in the Championship now potentially in a bit of trouble by then.

Don't use the dreaded "t" word about us. If we're supposed to be in transition then so is most of the league. That's a great excuse when performances are underwhelming.

It's pretty clear that our fans won't tolerate another underwhelming season for our 7th one on the bounce here.

Our CEO got the Sporting Director he wanted back in the Autumn, and the two of them got the first team coach they wanted in January. Now's the time to put together a team to compete at the top. No more excuses.

So with the league all confirmed looks an interesting one next season. At first glance without factoring in recruitment etc my feeling is weaker at the top but stronger at the bottom so any time any of the favourites have an off game against one at the bottom there is a very strong chance they will come a cropper.

Have to feel our odds are about right given the second half of last season but I know I’ve banged on about it all season we need to get the keeper spot right this time. Stone and Stevens for that matter cost us so many points last season, if we go into it with the former starting we’ll go down. Don’t get why Shrews are so low unless they’re just basing it off how they finished it last time. Latest Skybet odds below. I like Charlton at 16’s personally.

Derby 5/1
Bolton 7/1
Barnsley 8/1
Peterborough 9/1
Reading 10/1
Portsmouth 11/1
Blackpool 16/1
Charlton 16/1
Oxford 20/1
Wycombe 25/1
Bristol Rovers 33/1
Exeter 33/1
Leyton Orient 40/1
Lincoln 40/1
Port Vale 40/1
Wigan 40/1
Burton 50/1
Carlisle 50/1
Fleetwood 50/1
Northampton 50/1
Shrewsbury 50/1
Stevenage 50/1
Cambridge 66/1
Cheltenham 80/1

Expected us to be favourites for the drop after the run we had but guess its about right overall.

Cheltenham losing May will be a blow and Cambridge could lose a few which puts pressure on them. Fleetwood I guess is down to the Pilley issue.

Can't really argue with a lot of those odds really, maybe Burton deserve a little higher? Shrewsbury fell like a stone and seemed to have a small squad so maybe playing against them?

In terms of us, big summer! Don't agree Stone cost us point's bar Morecambe away he didn't really make any howlers, defence is more key to stop the clear cut chances but he didn't make many outstanding saves to win us points if that makes sense like say Goodlad, Jack Alnwick, Chris Neal or Scott Brown did.

If you look at the numbers most games he rarely had much to do but when needed to he failed to do it. We simply have to upgrade that position. No ifs or buts. The old saying about the definition of insanity applies here if we think we can just run it back with the same keeper and defenders that let in over 70 last season and think it’ll be different.

Those odds suggest that we’ll finish in the bottom 4. We’ll finish nowhere near the bottom 4 with players like Marosi, Dunkley, Nurse, Leahy, Shipley, Bayliss & Udoh. Shows how much Sky Bet know about lower league.

We need to sign another 7/8 players yet but even with our current players that are retained for next season, I can see us being top half at the very least again. Only reason we didn’t finish higher was that we were decimated with injuries and forced to play youth players.

Yeah that was my feeling with Shrews. If I was placing you around anywhere with a fair wind I’d say around 10th or thereabouts. Have they said if Cotterill is definitely manager next season as seemed to remember that was a bit up in the air?

I usually bitch about how the bookies are underestimating us, but this time I'd say they've got us about right and if anything, are being a bit too generous.

Obviously it's ridiculous to get either too confident or too despondent without having made a single signing, but I'm still expecting next season to be a transition one for us and right about now I'm not even expecting us to have an outside tilt at the playoffs.

Oxford and MK examples of what can happen, you'd argue Oxford had one of the better squads that said I guess your's is down to the off field situation with the manager?

Still no news as of yet. Can’t see Steve Cotterill working with a DOF anyway and we signed a young lad today and there was no thoughts from Cotterill about the new signing so that tells you all there needs to be about who actually sanctioned it going through. Rumours he’s Swansea bound which is a shame. Wouldn’t have a scooby as to who we’ll announce as gaffer if this was the case.

Be a surprising move that if he goes there. Cotterill is plenty good enough to manage at that level but Swansea always seem to like their possession based philosophy type coaches such as Russell Martin. Guess it’d all indicate a head coach type from an academy sort of appointment with the DOF. You’d have thought would want a quick resolution either way on it.

These odds mean nothing until the transfers have taken place and teams are back in preseason. It depends who your team sign, and can retain.
I think the season we went up from league 1 we were 3rd favourite to go down. So that shows you what the bookies know.
