That's a big result for us today with FGR and Eastleigh winning. Could and probably should have been about 6-0. Farman MOTM says it all for them.

Easy run in compared to us. The title will go to you, and deservedly so if you can maintain this form through your next couple of games. We haven't been able to compete over our last run of hard matches and we have another two runs to get through yet!

Terrible day for Macc.

Watch out for Braintree's number 15 Simeon Akinola. Hell of a player, let me know what you think of him.

Largely anonymous. Commentators said that even though he had a decent burst of pace, he looked out of position out on the left. They brought him into the middle for the last 10 or 15 minutes and they said that that was gonna suit him better but then they didn't pass any more comments on him. Braintree were a bit more threatening during this period than they previously had been, though.

Bottom of the table looks a hell of a lot closer than it was a month or two back.

With Halifax, Eastleigh, Woking all winning too, it might be an entertaining end to the season at the top, in the play-offs and at the bottom!

1 nil but totally different to Tuesdays 1 nil, we had one chance and took it, and one half chance when Mackreth cut in and blasted over.
Braintree should have scored early, it seemed like our goalmouth had a laser on it for 9 or 10 seconds keeping the ball out, we thought it had gone in and so did the Braintree fans poor sods!
Even with 10 men Braintree had 2 good chances at the end, header put wide then with the last kick their no. 15 free on edge of the box blazed over.
Phew, what a bonus 3 points, 10 more 1 nil wins left and we will be champions, easy peasy this football lark........ ;) :D

Really could be a case of getting out of this month as unscathed as possible.

Gateshead done and really a bonus three points,
Eastleigh - 6th
Halifax - 7th
Aldershot - 18th
Macc - 4th.

After that, it feels like it gets slightly better:

Chester - 11th
Kiddy - 9th
Southport - 21st
Dover - 13th
Alfreton - 19th

Similar to ours, get past the next three and then really on paper we only have one tough one out of the last 7. But then games aren't played on paper.

Woking - 8th
Chester - 11th
Eastleigh - 6th
Dover - 13th
Welling - 20th
Gateshead - 10th
Alfreton - 19th
Wrexham - 17th
Southport - 21st
Aldershot - 18th

Huntingdon 1 - 7 AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

Bit disappointing to only notch up 7 this week... Peaksy out ;).

Went 1-0 down inside a min, before drawing ahead at HT 2-1. Fairly even first half was followed by a dominant 2nd, with former Huntingdon captain Declan Rodgers completing his hat-trick as part of a crazy 6 mins where we scored 4 goals.

Late kick off for our promotion rivals still in play...

Another 2pts dropped by Holbeach as they drew 2-2 at Kempston. A small shame for us that they only recovered a draw thanks to a penalty. However you take what you can get. Thanks to our +67 GD vs + 44 for Holbeach, who are still 3 games behind and now 12pts adrift and we can afford one draw without worries, or even a loss with the GD in play here.

10 cup finals left!

Farman MOTM!!! He couldnt even kick the ball on the pitch from a goal kick!

Anyway could and should have won by a lot more, great result.

We'd have lost that a few weeks/months/years ago blah blah. Good result in what is one of our trickier remaining games, some much tougher ones to come though. Just gotta keep on grinding them out, even though Rovers are showing absolutely no sign of slowing down anytime soon.

Massive day for us. One that you could very much look back on come the end of the season as pivotal.

Thank God for Luke Graham . Two bullet headers from him from Corners have yielded 6 vital points. The Telford hoodoo is offically over. Our first win in 10 previous visits and just our second goal in that time.

It was an awful game between two poor sides but at time of the season its results that matter! :woo:
Other results went our way too. That was a costly equalizer conceded from Dartford at Aldershot. From three points from Safety and having a good GD they are now Second bottom below a resurgent Nuneaton.

Southport v Nuneaton next week is looking massive

2 points dropped really. We had enough chances to win the game but poor crossing in the final third meant we didnt convert that into attempts on goal. Sloppy goal conceded in the first half didnt help us either.

As for the referee, his incompetence today was summed up by getting Jaydon Gibbs confused with Sam Hatton in the first half!

Game on at the top. We travel to a part time, lesser side and come away with a good win.

It's still in our own hands and that's all we can ask. I am waiting for Bristol Rovers to slip up and it will happen soon - you can't win every game by 1 goal and keep that going for too long.

Big home game vs FGR up next. Should be a good game that one, especially with MAVIS returning.

Told you DSL not to give up! It also looks like I was right when I said (on the other forum) a couple of months back that it was too early to say the bottom 4 sides were definitely going down. Only Telford look doomed, the others all have a fighting chance, even though it looks very hard indeed for the likes of Nuneaton to go on a winning /unbeaten run.

By the way, things are looking up or Grimsby,. I see they managed 2 consecutive wins against the type of sides they usually drop points to. Doesn't matter if it was only a 1-0 win or whatever, it's the 3 points that count.

You're talking like Hurst now! He said before today that he would take 11 1-0's between now and the end of the season!

I agree though and would take the same, but yes it is nice to finally get a couple of home wins on the bounce against sides that come to defend. 3 points is 3 points and its what we need right now.

Ha, our manager (Andy Peaks) said exactly the same thing about the remainder of our season before today (was also 11 games). Obviously Hurst has been reading Northamptonshire local newspapers ;).

That said Peaksy did say that off the back of winning a game 9-0, so a little different.

Braintree did not come just to defend, but when defending they did do it very well.

Frustrating game today, both sides had chances to win the game. Danny Wright missed a good chance for us again. Richard Peniket probably would have got a goal had been not been throwing himself to the ground every time our players went within a yard of him luckily the ref who had a good game wasn't buying it.

1 goal in 7 is shocking and have yet to win at home since Lincoln on Dec 20th.

Also after our players and staff refused to talk to the press after being paid only a third of their wages a director took over and decided to blame the lack of money on the fans, the team and the Lane's (our benefactors), even though they've failed to communicate what's happening behind the scenes and they've had plenty of opportunities. Ken Rae our chairman has yet to speak publicly at all this season and seems to be cowering away.

We can because of our defense. We've conceded one goal this month. Haven't really scored goals all season but we've only conceded four goals in the last 10 and we've definitely got the best defense in the league. The whole run has been built on the back five.

Eastleigh will be a big game, they'll be highly confident with their Macc result but I always back us at home - we've only lost at the Mem once this season and that was with 10 men.

It only takes a side to score once against you and they have a very good chance of taking points - Braintree almost did it with ten men.

I'd be surprised if you didn't draw a game soon and we've just got to hang in there and capitalise as best as we can...

I'd rather draw the games we don't win than lose them...

Well if draws are all we've got to worry about I'm sure it'll be fine.

This isn't good, isn't good at all. Is it a case of budgeting for well and above what you are getting attendance wise? If so I will have to try and get to kiddy a couple of times before the end of the season, even if the football I have seen has been piss poor.

Your inability to win games was the only reason we were top for so long.

Our GD could yet be crucial in this and if we continue to avoid draws and you start drawing games again, it will be incredibly tight even if we lose another game.

The current points totals means whether Bristol lose or draw makes no difference to who is top and wont until we draw or lose another game.

Difference is two points and a game in hand, So,
Bristol Win - Barnet must win game in hand
Bristol Draw - Barnet can afford to lose and win game in hand
Bristol Lose - Barnet can afford to lose and win game in hand.

Seeing as that game in hand is Halifax away, I think the 'winning game in hand' option can be rubbed out!
