What's the female physical embodiment of Mansfield? I might have a chance with her.

Not sure, but the general embodiment of a county fan would be a lot closer to death than anything from Mansfield lol

Anyway, being honest - we realise that Evans probably is a bit big for us (no pub intended), but is a good managerial appointment.

It's high time the club showed some ambition instead of the cheap option. It may or may not work out, but it'll give the fans a bit of a fix from what has been a thoroughly depressing season with wins only against shocking sides, who somehow were worse than us on the day.

We've a decent set of players, and if Evans can give them a kick up the backside they might be half decent.

As always, time will tell - nothing is even confirmed yet

Sorry but I don't rate Murray that highly. Sure, he's a nice guy, a club legend and he was a decent player, but when you listen to him there's really nothing there. It's just empty talk for the sake of it.

The only way he's too big for you is physically! You'll need to strengthen home dug out seats.

Interesting that the lambasting we/he got 5 years ago seems to have faded.

Ultimately him being a club legend was probably a hinderance to both parties at the end, both wanted it to work, when both parties knew it wasn't. Had that not been Murray he wouldn't have lasted this long.

Correct though, he didn't know how to learn from his mistakes or improve, and it was a case of going round in circles.

Steve Evans is the physical embodiment of Mansfield. An unattractive mess of a man who you look at and can't believe isn't somehow dead yet.

Ill agree with that, lived halfway between notts and mansfield most of my life and although i support stags and always want us to do well i can't stand large parts of the town and some of its people. Evans is perfect for the club.

Don't think we'll do a rotherham but its our chairmans ambition, exciting football and more home wins is what i want.

Well Mansfield went in one fell swoop from distinctly average to Luton levels of dislikable. That's impressive

It'll be nothing in comparison to our rise to the Championship to the Conference North when Evans has done with us.

It will we be an interesting appointment all round.

Personally, I'm surprised that we could afford him and certainly didn't expect him to drop to League 2, however, he's always had this kinda weird fondness for us - perhaps it's always been the extra special Field Mill treatment that he's received. He'd better get used to that, if it doesn't work, cos our fans turn quicker than milk left in the sun.

We'll become an interesting spectator sport under Evans, and I agree that it is a good fit: a universally disliked, although respected, manager and a club that is largely frowned upon by anybody who wishes to care.

I couldn't give a monkeys bright pink un what folks think of our club, but I do want Evans to do the right things, in the right manner, and I wish him well. Although his best work tends to be whilst doling out the dollar, which I'm not sure that we can live up to expectations there.

Regarding Adam Murray, I'm gutted to see him leave, although when you take the reins at a club which has spent 120 years failing, this was always on the cards. He's the type of bloke that you'd wish to stay around for ever. I think he'll pitch up somewhere though, and I still think he'll be a success as a manager. Good luck to him x100.

Confirmed. Judging by this quote, it appears Charlton were interested in him...

“I didn’t want to go in somewhere that was fire-fighting in the leagues above and fighting against supporters and trusts and different people – I wanted to join a football club like I joined previously where everyone was pulling together."

It's a very pleasing and promising appointment, one of intent from JR and one that will cause genuine excitement amongst the fans - happy days.

He's here to win matches, not be nice, talk a nice game and in the end have his tummy tickled like poor Adam did, something that will sit well with the vast majority of fans.

He's one of those that you hate if he's against you, but love if he's one of yours - which he now is.

I I hope that he can have a similar record with us that he's had in large in the past - if others don't like him or us, then well, whatever

You seem to dislike all clubs with a bigger average gate than Barnet. ie the other 91. Bet you can't wait to return to Non league where you can set up a rivalry with Boreham Wood.

To me the only question I had was whether Mansfield could afford Evans. It looks like that isn't a problem, so all in all, I'd say this is a great appointment by the Stags. I'm sure he'll get them around the top 7 in no time.

A good appointment for Mansfield this, don't think he'll deliver promotion this season, but given time I think he will.

I don't get all these "match made in heaven" comments. MK Dons, sure, but Mansfield? You might not like them but they're no where near as deplorable as Steve Evans (or Raynor, for that matter).

The match made in heaven, is rich chairman willing to spunk them millions in debt to get to the championship with a manager willing to spend it.

Seems he changed his mind and sorted out the debt with Murray and Radford knowing it would cost to much to get there, guess that changed when he realised Evans would take his money.

They've got a bit of a rep for kicking their way up and down the league tbf. And Evans is just the worst type of human being. Guess how he'll get them playing?
