Should be a good game Sat. I fancy Kettle will get the 3 points though.

Saw something a little extra from United last night which was nice to see, different opposition causes different problems and with us having very little time to recover I'm more hopeful than confident about getting 3pts.

Expecting changes, let's hope they fill the void.

Kettle is one of the worst refs i have ever seen so expect a red card to appear for nothing from that clown. With our away form i'll be happy with a point with 3 being a massive bonus. Gone for 1-1 in the prediction league.

Whisper this, but we've had Kettle twice this season, and although he is not good, believe me, we have had PLENTY of worse refs this season. Nathan Jones said that although Trev likes to be the centre of attention, you know exactly what you are going to get with him - you certainly can't say that about a number of others at this level.

I'll just go for a lie down now.

We've had Kettle once already. He was a picky, pompous, pratt but we've had worse already this season in terms of impact on the game or result.

As for the match, I hope we haven't talked ourselves into making this 2 games inside 48 hours a bigger issue than it needs to be. God knows who we'll start with but Josh, Max Clark and Ben Williamson should feature. If Conor Newton doesn't get a run out then there clearly must be something happening behind the scenes.

I'd go with our strongest side again and depend on subs to shore it up but Dunk was limping badly after the game yesterday and I wouldn't want to risk Leon if there are any doubts.

Norris
Halliday, Coulson, Roberts, Taylor
Dunne, Clark
Mingoia, Berry, Elito
Ikpeazu

Subs:Gregory, Williamson, Legge, Newton, Maris, Davies, Foy

2 - 2 (Ikpeazu and Coulson) in front of 4,060 (416 Chairboys)

If start Williamson after he scored on Thursday. If there's any "momentum" to be had from that goal we should take it though I don't think he's much use as a lone striker so I'd put Ikpeazu up with him in a 4-4-2. Dunk looked out on his feet and I'd give Berry a break , maybe bring him on at half time. We're going to need our squad today.

Norris

Halliday
Legge
Roberts
Adams (Taylor struggling too)

Mingoia
Dunne
Clark
Elito

Williamson
Ikpeazu

Berry, Dunk, Maris etc off the bench.

Would take a draw.

Cambridge have made 6 changes from the Dover game last Thursday, not sure if anyone is out injured while we keep the same starting XI that beat Morecambe 2-0 last week.

Wasn't expecting all of 6 changes, I was thinking more like 3/4 at most. Hard to see where the goals are coming from, so I think Wycombe will win this one 1 or 2 nil.

I'm not there, but at least I knew I would be missing this game some 4 weeks ago and not because something came up unexpectedly. Looking at that line up makes me think I won't be missing much, though I hope I'm wrong of course.

I wouldn't worry mate we haven't won away in the league yet.

1-0 surprisingly, we haven't had a penalty for ages - quite possibly owing to our pathetic gamesmanship and diving, so that's a novelty. Still plenty of time to cock things up though.

For now - nosebleed! - and one point off the playoffs. Ridiculous. If we end up losing we'll probably plummet to 18th or something.

Sounds like Kettle's having a fantastic game. Our match commentators are saying how he has managed to infuriate both managers after only 10 mins in. Also sounding like a very dull match.

Heard that Josh Coulson was carried off on a stretcher after a tackle by Cowan-Hall. Hope it's not as bad as it sounds and he makes a quick recovery.

:eyes: it's usually the other way round (not specifically re. Coulson, but just other players breaking Paris Cowan-Hall).

Can't comment obviously but sounded very harsh. But what's more disappointing is that it didn't look like the players were feeling the effects of Thursday's match, so I don't think that's a valid excuse.

2-0-3 in our last 5 matches is simply not good enough. Just two points better off 23rd, and it could've been worse had Colchester and Exeter not conceded late goals, but tbf so did we.

If it wasn't for Blackman by the sound of it in goal you could have hammered us, just hope Chelsea let us keep him until the end of the season.

You're probably right, but there comes a time when the fans stop looking at the reasons why their side are not picking up enough points. For us, first it was the absence of Barry Corr, then the poor summer recruitment, then the midfield players not pulling their weight, then it was the strikers' ineptitude, and on and on and on. As for today, some will say it was Wycombe's tactics, some will say it was down to the keeper and the others will say it was due to Trevor fucking Kettle. Don't get me wrong, it could well be down to one or more of these reasons, and our performance was indeed a good one (I wasn't there so I can't really comment), but I reckon it's time to stop making excuses.

The plain truth is that with the budget we're rumoured to have, which is a top 8 one,we shouldn't be where we are now. I know the table's tight atm, and nearly all clubs have as much chance of making the PO's as they have of going down, but the fact remains that having only two points more than the side in 23rd is way below expectations.

Vanni, we were dead unlucky and cheated out of it by a scumbag team and a shit ref. The two goals conceded come from defensive howlers, the second was from a corner which shouldn't have been as Akinfenwa fouled Roberts in the build up (pushed him out the way). On top of that, the Wycombe keeper had an excellent game. Derry didn't do a lot wrong, despite the changes. It was a very similar scenario to Thursday night.

You can call got Derry's head if you want but to do so off the back of that defeat would be very harsh and unfair. We were worth a minimum of a draw today, probably a win.

Also thanks to the Wycombe winger for sticking one on Coulson's standing leg, putting him in hospital. That was snide and typical of that fucking disgusting embarrassment of a club.

I can't comment on the tackle that injured Coulson as i wasn't there or have seen footage, all i will say is Cowan-Hall is not the sort of player to deliberately injure someone. If there is film of it and it was out of order then fine but please don't post photos as they never tell the true story. I'm hoping he was only taken to hospital as a precaution and there's no serious damage to his leg.

I can hardly call for Derry's head when I didn't watch the game. I believe we probably deserved something out of the game even though I wasn't there, as it sounded like it was a good performance on the radio, although I'm fully aware that listening to a match comm is no substitute to the real thing. However IMO the excuses keep piling up and I don't think making up excuses is the way to go when one wants to move forward.

Fuck Wycombe and fuck Kettle. Horrible team and the worst referee I've ever seen. Cowan-Hall intentionally kicking out at Coulson and putting him in hospital just about sums them up

Having been gifted the lead, Wycombe allowed us to play some of our best football at the Abbey this season - and that with 6 second choice starters. Kettle was what Kettle is, for both teams but probably had more effect on us. Wycombe were what Wycombe are - but with a good keeper who didn't cheat. Our long standing faults meant we weren't able to overcome frustrating bizarre reffing and a team who, for all their faults, were ready to play to the end. Me and my mate looked at each other and said 1 - 2 as we went into the last few minutes.

I don't think we'll be in the bottom 4, so I'm happy to have Derry over the likes of Ainsworth (or Evans) and finish below them. I know others will disagree. I'm beginning to think that he and we might get there - as tactical nous and more clinical finishing are added to what we have already.

With luck, Notts will reap the consequences of our collective frustration on Tuesday.

Was Paul Hayes the worst cheat by any chance?

Just sack Derry ffs Cambridge and get someone in who knows what they're doing. You could have had the likes of Steve Evans or Graham Westley as manager by now if you hadn't dilly dallied around sticking with the loser that is Derry.

Pierre was fouled in the area and Hayes scored the penalty, sorry to burst you're anti Wycombe bubble :smug: Had the clear penalty like that been given for Carlisle you'd have been unbearable on here as usual being defensive so give it a rest eh?

Just read that Akinfenwa was racially abused by home fans. They're brave in a crowd but wouldn't have the gonads to try saying that to his face as he's 16 stone of muscle who wouldn't back down from racist twats.
