I'd forgot how horrible Burnden park used to be. Never went there personally, but it looked a right shit hole. Would rather have that than that souless place they have now.

What's the fascination with going to watch rangers? I prefer rangers don't get me wrong, but would I fuck travel up there to watch them play a random game. My Leeds supporting mate has just started doing it, and he's one of a few that I know who go up there, even though they are not proper rangers fans.

So, you've never been but it looked a shit hole....interesting.
FWIW it was a great ground until the plantpots that owned the club sold part of the best terrace to a shopping centre, and it is fair to say away fans didn't like coming here

I weren't quite old enough to manage to make it. It kind of came out wrong, what I meant was it looked a rough hole. I wished grounds were still like that, and it looked a good away end, minus the shopping centre joint on to it.

Another one is highfield road which I did manage to go to with my elders first time round. That was a rough place, especially if you was a villa fan. It's sad really, seeing all those grounds being no more. Football has changed so much and for the worse I'd say.

Ahh, I forgive you then :) I'm of an age where I've been to all the old grounds in the 70's and 80's, Stoke was always a personal favourite

Give over, went to Highfield Road many times and never once felt remotely intimidated including once half a dozen of us sat with their fans. (Probably different for Villa's visit as you say)
Burnden Park on the other hand I only went once (after supermarket sweep) there wasn't any bother, but you got that sense that there could be at any moment, had a old school feel about it. Much edgier and Imo better.

Definitely different for us. I've heard people taking the piss there, but I've also known some clubs get a terrible reception there. It's a rough old place Is Coventry.

The old Vic. Obviously before my time, but yes heard a few stories about that place.

I'm not entirely sure why Bristol City fans need to snipe at everything Millwall related. Strange complex going on down there. Like a moth to a flame each time we come up.

It's not even that, you just make Millwall out to be something they're not nowadays and I'm happy to pull you up on it. Rarely any different to the other 91 clubs nowadays.

Without a doubt. Turn up every single year for a scrap regardless, an away following that consists of men only.

Fearless fuckers too. Numbers means fuck all with them, if they only have 50 and the other 500, they will still have it.

Completely agree, only lot I've seen completely take piss at ours and they were massively outnumbered then, season we went down to league one think they equalised in injury time and it all escalated from then.

They caused havoc in 2008 on the opening day when they smashed up the away end and our fans tried setting fire to their supporters bus on the drawbridge in town but absolutely nothing this year. 1,000 of them, no presence anywhere before the game, nothing during the game which admittedly was a dire game and then afterwards didn't see any of their fans in town and there was no trouble reported.

Most intimidating grounds I’ve been to were probs Ayrsome Park, now that was proper Northern. Old Den, probably partly due to reputation. Maine Road, all those alleys. Both Mersey clubs, “you got the time mate?” and home of the Stanley. St Andrews, obviously being Villa. Filbert Street, always game and good numbers.

I've been there once and I loved it.
30 - 40 of us sat in Boltons huge Kop with seats that were like chairs you get in staff canteens just stuck there, we equalised deep into injury time to draw 3-3 and went mental (well as mental as 30 - 40 can be) and yet not a sniff of trouble, although I guess a home game against Grimsby Town is hardly gonna get Boltons firms juices flowing!
Great ground shame it's gone.

That was in 1994. There were no seats in the huge kop, i'm guessing you were either behind the goal in the family stand or in the manchester road seats (main stand).

Ayrsome Park was one of the toughest places to go if you listened to my old grandad. We rarely travelled well up there. Heard horror stories about Maine road and The Old Den. Apparently when you used to travel to Liverpool or Everton the police would escort you over Stanley park then leave you right in the middle of it and fuck off. You would then have scoucers appearing from everywhere to attack you.

Some of our older lot recall a dodgy game up yours when we played you in the fa cup in the early 90s, I think it was. I think you came on the pitch at the end and we had a rough ride up there.

Yeah we were sat behind the goal, I thought that was your Kop didn't know it was the family stand, that's probably the reason we got away with celebrating without any trouble then.
What a game as well, 2-0 up after 8 minutes yet left there delighted to be going home with a point.

United at home sold out this morning, didn't make general sale. QPR sold 1,000 to STHs in the first week, probably won't make general sale either.
