I had an interest in it years ago, but I've got no interest in reading them now. My first one was the Man City one which was decent.

The Guvnors was it?

Didn't that Mickey Francis end up in the Manchester underworld?

From memory, I remember the Middlesbrough one not being bad (for the life of me can't remember the name of it) and Scally.

The boro one was called The Frontline. Yes, he was involved in all that, like some other well known faces.

You going? I take it there ain't no trains?
yeah I'm going, got a half day from work so leaving at 2, getting in for half 4, then back to New Street after the game for 11 and there's a train back to Gloucester that gets in at half 12 and our mate's gonna come pick the three of us up which is decent, because there's no trains back to Bristol. We were gonna do a night in Nottingham but we usually have a dozen or so of us go to every away game, given there's only three of us at this one it wouldn't be worth the money I don't reckon.

Fully expecting an absolute hammering.

Surprised more arent going considering youre league position but tv doesnt half make it easy to not bother. That trip ain't too bad , similar to what we do on a London midweek game coming back to Doncaster on the 23.30 then a taxi home to sheffield, apart from when we missed it, had to get a Megabus to Birmingham and a taxi home from Birmingham, get in the house about 5.30am and go to work 30 mins later, was all worth it though beating west ham on pens.

I thought it'd be about 600 odd and it may still be but either way it's pathetic, it should be 1k+. I suppose it's in the same payslip as Man City was which is the only excuse really.

Fucking hell I bet that set you back a bit  I've not had anything like that with trains, but at Wolves away this season my mate drove and the other 4 of us were all drinking it was a midweek game and he parked in a a shopping centre car park about half a mile from Molineux, we got back there about half 10ish after the game and the shutters were all down and it was pitch black inside, they shut at 10. Only one of us had phone battery left and he had about 10% so he rang the company and they sent someone out after a fucking long while, thought we were stranded for the night. The same as you I had work the next morning but did at least have a few hours sleep.

Mega bus to sheffield was full , think the bus to Birmingham was about £20 then £150 I think it was for the cab, 5 of us though so not too bad. Missed the last train back from London on a saturday a couple of times too and had to get a cab from derby. Far too much ale consumed in them London trips, can't beat em though

Cheaper just to book a room somewhere in advance probably?

£30 tickets at Bolton on the friday night, sub 400 I reckon. Might take a few to Leeds given we don't have a weekend away game for a few months.

Us and Derby are by far the most inconsistent fanbases away from home in this division I think.

It won't be that far off this year too despite Newcastle going up. Hull/Huddersfield about the same, brighton/Sunderland the same, newcastle/Boro about 25k a week difference but us,bolton and millwall average about 20k a week more than Rotherham,Wigan and Blackburn and Leeds average is up about 5 or 6 k I think and wolves so it could even be better this year. As you say very impressive.

Our game against blues will sell out by the end of next week I should think. I can also see us hitting around the 40k mark against wolves, and Leeds too. There are some very well supported clubs in this league.

Yep, half of the division average 20k+ at home. Very impressive, clubs like Swansea, Watford and Burnley are just managing 20k in the PL and given their respective stadium capacities I believe I'm right in saying that it means not all of their games this season have sold out. I know Burnley haven't for a fact.

To be fair to Burnley, it's a small place.

http://www.itv.com/news/2015-05-29/west-brom-the-best-supported-club-in-premier-league/

'Though their season ended with relegation, Burnley can take some heart from being the second best 'pound for pound' supported club in the country. An average attendance of 19,158 combined with the town's population of 73,021 means that over a quarter (26.2%) of the town's population packed into Turf Moor every weekend.'

2 years ago but impressive, in a relegation season too.

West Brom are a funny lot. The actual town has a population of 80k, but Sandwell borough which is Albion territory is 300k. They do draw some support from parts of brum too. Some people even class them as a Birmingham club. A part of their ground is in the city boundaries. They are sandwiched between two big clubs in villa and wolves, so they don't do too bad for a club that has done fuck all for years. The whole ethnic make up of the area may well effect support too.

Agree

2016-17 average in the Championship was 20,125
This seasons average in the Championship is slightly up and currently stands at 20,230.

When I was a kid I was always told Birmingham has THREE clubs.
Always thought it weird that WBA main rivals always seemed to be Wolves instead of Villa and Small Heath, like you’d expect.
Is there much of a rivalry for Villa fans with WBA, or is it solely Birmingham City?
