Definite red card I thought. Didn't look over the line either.

We didn't play well enough to score a goal today, but we never deserved to lose today.

It was nowhere near over the line. How the ref/linesman awarded the goal I will never know. We should have got a point - and we'd have settled for that on the opening day - but we've been robbed by the officials in an away game once again.

Think Charlton will go well this year, but equally I think we will too. Definitely need a bit more quality out wide though, as our crossing was dire today.

For that dreadful challenge on Grant Basey from Dominic Blizzard too which most definitely should have been a red.

No complaints over the red card, even if you take the ball - you leave the ground with both feet and you're making the referee's decision for him. It was actually the most useful Novak has ever been in a Charlton shirt.

As for the 'goal', would like to see another angle or from a closer view to see what the linesman/ref saw but certianly from the clips so far it looks as though we just hit the post. We had a few shockers against us last season so will definitely take it.

Just seen some still images on a Gas forum that makes it look as though the ball is clearly over the line when in the keeper's hands.

Also a possibility that the ball was already over the line before Smith got a hand to it.

Yep saw that earlier, looks like it on that post, but you could do that either way. Perhaps it was a goal though. Sounds stupid but if it was, there's no way a linesman could see that?

As for the red, sorry but that's definitely a red, no doubt about it. Gotta agree about the Blizzard foul a few years ago though, forgot that was against Charlton. He actually broke his leg didn't he?

The goal is extremely contentious, different images etc seem to be showing different things but like Rovers fans, I would be unhappy if it was given against us.

I have said I have no arguments over Novak's red, I genuinely don't think there was any malice in it and think he certainly took more of the ball than the man but the moment you leave the ground with both feet you're asking for trouble, as a professional footballer you know that.

Yeah, disgraceful challenge, far worse than Novak's yesterday and broke Basey's leg. Effectively ended his career aswell, hardly played again. Think he went to Wycombe for a bit but no idea what happened to him after that.

Edit: Ended up at VCD and has just retired after playing for Cray Wanderers at 28. So yeah pretty much ended his professional career and cut his semi-pro one short.

Frustrating game really. I think it was set to be an entertaining encounter until the early red. A bit harsh maybe but these days 9 times out of 10 you'll get a red for a challenge like that.

It changed the game because from that point on Charlton kept a lot of men behind the ball and we lacked the creativity to break them down.

It was never a goal. There is no way the entire ball was over the line, probably only 1/3 in my opinion, if that! Very poor decision which cost us a point.

We didn't deserve any more than a point because although we had a lot of the ball - 14 attempts on goal and 9 corners - we only tested the keeper on a couple of occasions.

Charlton are turning into a bit of a bogey side for us. Anyway, best of luck for the rest of the season.

It's a shame not only for Basey, but also that Dominic Blizzard was ever a professional footballer either. It was an atrocious tackle by an atrocious footballer.

I can't see anything wrong in that?
First time I've said anything like this to somebody on a forum, but if you think spitting at a man whilst he's down on the floor then you are scum.

And if he did spit which it looks like he did, he is total scum as well, save the it's not usually in his character nonsense as well.

Don't know what's deemed acceptable in South London, but up here it's something what scum would do end of story.

I don't believe for one second he has spat, no reaction from the player or any of the many nearby, he's also moving our players away from Sinclair. If it's investigated and it's deemed that he has spat at Sinclair then he will rightly be banned.
