Postponed due to us having 3 players called up to international duty, which would be all well and good if all 3 were first team regulars but only danny mcnammara is a regular starter for us, the other 2 lewis Collins and Keanu marsh-brown have hardly kicked a ball for us in over a year which imo makes this 3 player call up rule bloody idiotic.

Yeah - Newport requested the postponement and Cheltenham have no say in the matter.

Meanwhile, we lose out on a bumper crowd because the game moves to an evening and a number of fans (myself included) are unable to attend due to midweek commitments.

Yes!! a piss poor showing by our club, we played exeter without mcnammara so i can't see the problem in playing cheltenham without him. So more than 1k of us will miss out on the relatively short trip up the m5 as a midweek re-arrangment will cut that number by more than half.

I'm more annoyed by the fact that an old work colleague of mine (we were all made redundant last year) is a Newport fan and I'll miss the chance to meet him for a drink before the game.

Such is life - I suppose I'll have to make more of an attempt to get to Dave Parade this season.

This is what the Newport County AFC boss Mike Flynn had to say about it.

"People might say that it’s only one regular, but I’m missing my right-back and I would have had to play Robbie (Willmott) there because Dan Leadbitter has just had an operation.
“It also gives us a chance to get Ryan Inniss up to speed and Mickey Demetriou might be fit when we play them next, and Joss Labadie as well.
"I could have four very big players back. So, there are a load of things that come into it but it’s for footballing reasons. There’s no hidden agenda. Hopefully it pays off.”

Surely this ruling needs to be addressed now? Confirmation from the manager that the international has no bearing on match being cancelled

Just worked this out. It's so he can field a strong side for tonight's pointless Cup game..
