Pearson and Smith were outstanding. In a division as poor as this one, that partnership alone could win Wrexham promotion.

It looks like we can yeah.

We were cheated out of a victory against Chester last year, so I'll take that bit of luck thank you very much.

Pearson and manny immense again. .. story of season so far..not great...keep clean sheet and sneak a 1 v 0. Not great to watch, but if it gets us up I'll take it. .. chester huffed and puffed a lot...unlucky with effort which hit the post..and the sub should have done better with his free header. If they can put in that effort every week they will survive. ..but I think they are shite most weeks and save that effort for their cup final. I think the booking for wedgebury was correct and I thought ref got the big decisions right. Thought most of our players were below par but its the result which matters. Can now evict those cheap skates who have apparently spenter a night rent free in my noggin, according to a previous poster and move on to our next opponents.

Shame, certainly shouldn’t have lost but that’s the way it’s going for us. Short term pain for long term gain hopefully as the performances keep improving. Annoying that Hall-Johnson pulled up as he’s our most dangerous player coming from behind, stupid pass from Halls to blame for that. Kept getting plenty of joy down the left with Gough as the game went on, not sure if Kevin Roberts was injured or just unfit for them but the space kept opening up down that side.

Ref was predictably shit.

That is pretty much how we've played all season, shite in midfield and going forward but solid at the back with Manny Smith and Pearson immense. Thought Kelly was wasteful a number of times on the ball, apart from a superb delivery for the free kick.. people keep calling for him to play permanently in the middle but he's not shown much for me so far.
Would love us to get into the play offs and beyond, with the lowest goals scored in the division.

Both teams were utter shite!! Seen Wrexham 3 tines now this season, they were awful every single time. How the fuck their second says just how wank this division is.

Also, the police presence was very OTT. They caused more problems being there.

Well I've been to Shrewsbury on a number of occasions and it always smells of cow shit.

So there.

Chester were very unlucky not to get something out of that, they're the complete opposite to us - Hard to play against and break down, but toothless up front.

Not the complete opposite then.

Wrexham will be back down in mid table when Manny Smith gets injured.

From the bits I saw of the game Chester looked the better side and much improved from earlier in the season. Wrexham however have a quality defence and I can't help but agree with Alan Alger on this one: if they sign a decent striker the league is probably theirs.

Were you at the FA Cup game last Saturday, just wondering what you thought of us compared to Wrexham/Chester (my guess is you didnt think much of our defence)

Unfortunately I wasn’t! I was at the Hereford vs Telford Cup game.

I did watch you in the play offs last season and thought that you were decent, especially in attack but I bet you’ve lost the majority of that team you had?

As said, Wrexham were solid defensively, albeit had a couple of close calls, but they had no creativity in midfield, physical presence up front or appear to have too much pace in the side either.

For me, it didn't look like their GF column would be improved just by signing a decent striker. There seemed little supply there.

Agree, the problems run a bit deeper. Wedgbury is never going to create much but he is good shielding the back 4. It’s whether we sacrifice the protection someone like Rutherford gives a full back for someone with flair who’ll switch off and cost us but also score 10 goals a season himself. Won’t find a harder working, more disciplined wide man in the league than Rutherford but he offers next to nothing offensively.

To me it seems like we will muddle through to January and then Go For It by trying to get some real quality.

One thing Chester should do is sort out Ryan Astles. We all take the piss out of McNulty but at least he is 34. Astle is only 23. He's in shocking shape.

He's a good player and no doubt will always be naturally on the chunky side but surely to god he shouldn't look as bad as he does if he was training properly?

Part of his charm! Hopefully full time training will help with that though in all seriousness.

He shouldn't have been on the pitch in the second half after Massanka nearly took his foot off in the first half. Had a load of stitches in during the break.

I don't know what game you watched but I thought it was a pretty good game. Great pitch, decent atmosphere and standard of football was good. Chester deserved draw based on 2nd half performance. Why do Chester fans sing " Come on City " ? I thought they were only called that for a few years-- Surely they were simply Chester in the football league days at Sealand road ?

On reflection, I think I'd be pretty miffed if I was a Chester fan. Nothing to do with last night, just generally.

Yeah, in 4 visits there I've still never seen a Chester fan smile.
On last night, sure Chester had their moments but Wrexham's quality told in the end.

No surprise to see Shaun Pearson taking the piss out of this league.

Chester fans have always sung "Come on City", long long before the club name was changed to Chester City. In the old days the club didn't have a nickname that I can recall - "seals" was a contrived invention that became a passing fad from the eighties, thankfully. So the chant was always "city" and it wasn't prompted by the recent short phase when the club was re-branded Chester City.

Similarly, many Wrexham fans like to refer to us as The Town even though we've never ever been called Wrexham Town.
