I know both towns intimately: I worked in Birkenhead for 10 years and I spend a lot of time in Wrexham doing voluntary work. I'd rather be in Wrexham to be fair. Birkenhead wins the shithole award with hands down.

Sticking up for fellow Welshmen, understandable I suppose.

The Wirral was recently voted the third most desirable place to live in Britain, behind Leamington Spa and Leigh on Sea. Even if you live in one of the worst parts of Birkenhead, you are only a stone's throw from somewhere nice.

That's like saying if you live in Moss Side you're only an Uber from Hale Barns!

The average standard of living on the Wirral will be better than Manchester or Liverpool - or Wrexham.

That's handy. Loads of nice places to rob.

The Wirral is a peninsular; Birkenhead is a scally town within that peninsular.

Our supporters come from across the Wirral, so focussing solely on the worst parts of Birkenhead is like judging the whole of Chester by the Blacon. The suburbs of Birkenhead are actually affluent, it is only the central parts that are deprived, hence the town's bad reputation.

That sounds a bit elitist to me.
Even some of the wealthy people may be scallies a la Steven Vaughan.

As for your comments about Blacon I think you'll find that it is a very desirable place to live these days owing to organisations such as the Blacon Project.

Not elitist at all, I don't have any problem with any of my town's inhabitants, I was simply responding to your description of Birkenhead as a 'scally town'.

If the Blacon is considerable a desirable area these days, fair enough. Just shows you should not have preconceptions about a town and its people, like your own about Birkenhead.

Theres more chance of you signing captain cook! If cook leaves why would he choose a struggling national league club with gates of around 1000 when he plays for a footballing institution and has two more in wrexham and notts county looking at him. You can have ridehalgh, hughes, alabi or waring if you wanna get your chequebook out .

Cook turned down Eastleigh for Tranmere - can't imagine they're still willing to offer the same kind of silly money.

Being a smackhead is an illness. If you are not one just be grateful and support your local drug charities.

Alfreton have signed former Doncaster, Mansfield and Walsall midfielder James Baxendale from US Western League Conference side Orange County SC subject to international clearance.

Madeover 130 appearances for Walsall in the football league. He is a local lad but not sure why he has chosen to join us in our current state. Hopefully he can be the midfielder we need though!

He sounds like he should be very good signing if he's up for it.
