In truth I doubt if Tom Miller will start, the last few months he's been close to the first team but not quite close enough, but he'll almost certainly be in the matchday squad. I'm sure he'll be looking forward to sampling some of Dale's pies.

This is probably the last chance we'll have in 2017 to record a good result, and the last team we've left to play. Shame we couldn't have played them though early on when they looked completely out of their depth. Last time we faced FGR was way back in the Conference when they beat us at BP towards the end of the season, probably our worst result that whole season. Never expected we'd one day be playing them in the league again.

Following on from last night, I really want to see Devitt starting, I think he put himself right into contention with his performance against Gillingham, and since Luke Joyce wasn't even on the bench, and instead drew the half-time raffle, I wonder if he picked up a knock. In any case, I don't feel we're as dependent on Jones and Joyce playing together for either of them to play well as we were last season. Jones played perfectly well alongside Devitt and Devitt was at the heart of both our first half goals.

Had this game not been so close to Christmas then I may well have gone down for it. I've never been that far south for an away game before and the prospect of playing in a village appeals for the novelty aspect, but instead I'll be listening on the radio, and might have some rice and beans in tribute.

Could do with a win to build a bit of optimism ahead of two home games after Christmas.

We'll probably play a very defensive side as usual away from home, but there'll still be goals. FGR look sharp going forward but are as leaky as us when defending. They're bottom of the league but I'm not expecting a win.

Would've been a good away day had it not been right before Christmas (and we weren't so mind-numbingly boring).

2-2

We don't do clean sheets so if you defend well you'll win.

Hopefully we'll be able to field a much stronger side then we have in recent weeks though, Bennett's back from suspension meaning KMB can move further forward again and Traore came on last week so could be fit to start. The big one will be if Osbourne's back, been a massive player for us and once he comes back I'll be a lot more confident we can start getting results again.

We're desperate for a result, don't wanna be bottom at Christmas.

I was proud of how the "kids" played against Luton last Saturday, even if they didn't win, another home game where we possibly deserved a point but ended up with nothing. Agree with the comments above about Bennett and Osbourne, we have definitely missed their experience in the side and look far more convincing when they are playing. We could do with ending the year on a bit of a high note and I am optimistic that we can get all three points.

If we play like we did on Tuesday we’ll win convincingly.

But we won’t, we’ll be negative from the off...

Best I can hope for is a smash and grab 1-0 win, but more likely going to be a fortunate score draw or a narrow defeat.

Forest Green Rovers fans I've never really had any affection for your club but after trying for so many seasons to get into the football league. I really hope you stay for a few more years.

You'll have even less affection for us given the soulless shell of a football club FGR now is. January is going to be a very important month as we hope to continue the shift from totally out of depth to out of depth to something looking like survival form. The Vince brown nosers won't want to hear it, but we are bottom for a good reason.

Dog, you only speak for yourself.
Crowds continue to increase at TNL and the Green Army is usually in good voice.
FGR are bottom of a very tight table but have had excellent wins already this season.
When fans and managers of other clubs say that FGR will end season mid-table you should listen.
Dale Vince is one of England's best businessmen; he created a company from zero to become one with the most paid employees in Stroud.
FGR are exceptionally lucky to have him as Chairman. We are now a Football League club, something none of us real FGR fans ever dreamt possible a few years ago. And all because of Mr Vince.

You're making shit up, FGR Stroud.

1. I never said I speak for anyone else.
2. I never said that Vince doesn't have business sense. He has done a lot of good.
3. I never said we will get relegated.

But do you really not see we are at the foot of the EFL because of results on the pitch? We've played pretty much the same amount of matches as everyone else, but we're bottom. Not hard to grasp, is it.

But pointing this out makes me a dirty traitor. I'm not a 'true fan' because I don't fawn at the feet of the chairman. I'm not a 'true fan' because I don't accept the change of identity of FGR from a football club in its own right to one that is simply a marketing arm of a business. I'm not a 'true fan' because I recognise the history of the club. I'm not a 'true fan' because I have concerns that the chairman may be about to strip FGR of the one asset that secures its future. I'm not a 'true fan' because I don't want to see the club moved seven miles down the road.

Fuck you and what you think a 'true fan' is. It isn't a brown nosed, servile rat.

Who would have thought FGR had their own version of Carver?
I'm pretty sure he is the same bloke that has a regular rant on the FGR forum about the club and fans.
He is treated with utter contempt there as I will now do to his response on this thread.

And there we are. It is easier for you to stick your fingers in your ears and hum for the sake of a few curse words than it is to address the points I've made. Have you ever tried to understand why people (and I use the plural because they are out there in number, though I speak for nobody but myself) such as I have long term concerns to balance the positives DV has brought to FGR?

Not necessarily the type to barge in on an argument, I tend to think it is better just to let people get on with it until they get bored, but find myself agreeing a bit with what dog posted. I have concerns about the future of the club and was glad that planning permission to build houses on the site of the current ground has stalled, it seems that nothing can happen in that respect until the club has moved to a new ground, this is the best bit of news I have heard all year. When DV took over anyone who didn't take the view "who cares what happens in the long run, just enjoy the ride" was viewed as some sort of heretic...unlike the Nativity Play at Christmas there were more than three wise men, who took a more cautious view based on previous experience, but the number wasn't that great!"

Similar really, can see a lot of good things happening and maybe some potential but you'd be mad to ignore the risks of all the big changes. Certainly don't think being less enthusiastic than I am makes you a poor supporter.

Fair comment TJF, everyone will have different views and opinions, whether they may relate to the owner, manager, players, tactics, etc, etc...what really matters is that we put those things to one side and back our players as one, whenever they take to the pitch.

Sounds very much like we’re on top but we’re failing to put the second away. Need to get this second before they come back and bite us in the arse.

Yep, if we go in only the one down we've gotten away with it here. A lot of the problems of our own making mind, give it away from our own free kicks.

It would be the biggest Christmas gift ever if we fail to take all the points here.

Refs found his cards for far more nothing fouls than he let go earlier. Carlisle still sportingly refusing to score another even though they easily could.

It’s typical us. This is exactly why we need to bring in a better quality forward in January
