1st half was exactly as expected from boro, Out fighting us at times looked like
A walk in the park for them. Not complaining, If it was us would be over the moon
With the battling qualites, Vgood footballers as well.

Give Askey his due, Does not mess around and made a sub 10mins before HT
Sacrificing a CB for MF, Trying to contain i think and added help for the middle.

2nd half differant story, scored early equalizer and took control.

Cant describe the last 10mins, Apart from a basketball match on steroids.
The energy increase in this squad is unbelievable.

1-1 a fair reflection on a entertaining game, Time for a lay down.

The battle continues:

PS Come on Stockport lets have that auto promo done before we visit.

For how bad we were first half we were absolutely brilliant in the second. Absolute dominance Doncaster went into their shell and they had that coming. Absolute limbs when the goals went in, buzzing my tits off. :bg:
Ref did his absolute best to make sure we didn't have the chance. Absolute shocker from him! Orsi and Lloyd coming on and changing the match signalling that Taylor's days are numbered. Lloyd was superb once again for the little spell we saw him today. Instantly flicking a ball out wide for Emmanuel that Taylor would have given to the Donny CBs. Need to do everything we can to get him signed, in my opinion.

We're desperately lacking creativity though, need almost a total refresh up top next season. I'm starting to think that shelling out for a top L2 CM is almost as important as it is a striker. I don't get why Alex Hunt is being given every single minute of the season at the moment. Not even used today, we might have not needed to stretch the match to the 96th minute had he been brought on at half time as Donny were poor and there to be pulled apart by a player like him.

Carlisle losses to Northampton and Stockport next week coupled with us beating out of sorts Swindon and then Grimsby would mean the Barrow v Carlisle match on the 22nd will be very spicy.... and HG could end up being right :ds: :woo:

We had a favourable fixture today and didn’t win.
At this stage of the season, games against teams with nothing to play for may be more favourable than relegation threatened teams.

I can see us getting 3 or 4 points max from our remaining 5 games. To overtake us you’ll likely need 9 or 10 points from 6 games. That’s more than doable from your fixtures. Grimsby, Newport, Harrogate, Colchester alone should give you chance for these points. Then Orient might be on the piss as champs by the time you play them as well.

I don’t think Barrow will finish above us. They’ll close the gap but games will run out.

I think the only blip in the game was Barlow’s goal but to be fair to him he was aiming for the corner flag and chuffed it up, an apology will be forthcoming

I'm not sure Stevenage really played any great football, just lots of lofted passes back to front into space but yes dangerous on the break and set pieces. They were better first half, we didn't deal with their physicality and press. When you play a team like that you need to match them physically and it was better when Mo came on.

Fair result but thought we played the better football in all honesty. It's probably a decent point bearing in mind out of drop zone and now a better GD but a bit disappointed we missed those sitters, hoping it won't cost us.

Teams like Grimsby, we are a cup final to them so we won’t win that, Harrogate are our annoying bogey team, Newport have just beat Northampton 3-0 at home and by the time we get to Colchester we’ll be out of it.

Crawley the worst team we have faced this season, I think. Didn’t get out of second gear and could conceivably scored more.

Was number 44 the TikTok competition winner? Poor lad looked like he’d never worn boots before.

The good news for Hartlepool is Crawley have got absolutely zero fight in them. You’re safe.
The 44 was the only player who got any praise from your commentary team. Strange how different people see different things.

The back four and midfield that started today should not be picked a football league side but when injuries and bizarre decisions by wagmi leave you short you have to put someone out. We had a centre back at left back, a left back at right back, a right back at Centre back a complete waste of space at left midfield and a player who has downed tools at right midfield.

I will say the third team on the pitch today were not great either. I would have sent 3 Crawley players and 1 Barrow player off.

I've changed my mind about a drab loss by 1 but I still reckon we lose this and something silly like 6-3.
If it wasnt for our keeper pulling off save after save and poor finishing from us 6-3 could've been the scoreline today. A really good point in isolation but games running out for us.

Battered them for 20, put foot off gas, they score then we switch on again. Bizarre first half and only ourselves to blame not to be winning.

That’s completely our own fault, we should’ve buried them, how that’s ended 1-1 is an absolute freak of a result, yet they could have won with the shot at the crossbar.

I dearly want dale to stop but good lord they were hopeless, less though crawley the other week though.

If that point means dale stop up i’ll happily buy any of them a pint to celebrate, go on lads!

We weren’t hopeless at all, I’ve watched us all season, last few games we’ve been massively better than previously and the effort is there too at last. ROD kept us in it at times, and we rode our luck. But overall I thought we defended pretty well, and caught you out on the break a few times too. If only those changes at the end had fallen to someone other than Mellor. A point isn’t enough for us at this stage of the season, we needed to win. Sacked Bentley too late IMO, said it at the time and still think so. It’s a real shame it didn’t happen sooner, as I think we could have avoided this impending relegation. As long as we carry on fighting as we have last few games I’ll be pleased with us giving it absolutely everything, and until it is mathematically impossible we can just dream a little bit.

The annoying thing about this season is we’ve hardly ever been battered by anyone. Nobody ever looks miles better than we do, we have lost so many this season by just the odd goal. We’re nowhere near as bad as Scunthorpe were last season for example. They were regularly hammered.

ROD kept us in it at times, and we rode our luck. But overall I thought we defended pretty well, and caught you out on the break a few times too. If only we had a decent finisher. As I think we actually had more ‘clear cut’ chances than you did in terms of getting through one on one. A point isn’t enough for us at this stage of the season, we needed to win. Sacked Bentley too late IMO, said it at the time and still think so. It’s a real shame it didn’t happen sooner, as I think we could have avoided this impending relegation.

today you were, fair not a side i’d expect to go down, but that was a game that 99/100 would be won by 3 or goals, we absolutely battered rochdale the 2nd half, though letting dale get the equaliser was almost comically funny.

However, as said above i really really want dale to stop up, if they go down they’ll be more likely to go down again than go up like scunthorpe.

I don’t agree we were hopeless at all. I’ve seen us all season, we’ve been hopeless for the majority of it, and still only been losing by the odd goal week in week out. It’s a shocking league and statistically we are the worst team in it. We shouldn’t be where we are, but we are. Due to shocking managerial appointments and mistakes from our very inexperienced board.

I suppose it depends on what you’re used to and what’s classed as hopeless.

That was a mid table conference side playing us today (this isn’t being sour, not winning is our own fault) how we’ve not won that is quite amusing but it happens.

Whoever goes down is going to have their nightmares awakened and something else, glad i’m not facing that

Who even beats Harrogate anyway? They're our bogey team too and they got a point at Orient today.

Stockport County.
We could still finish 2nd or 8th. It's all to play for really.

Newport were on the beach today really, once the first went in it was a formality.

How have Wimbledon lost that the clowns.

And Gillingham splashing the cash only to bottle it against everyone but us. They'll be Roy of the Rovers next week when we turn up, playing for every ball, 30s for every throw in.

Just arrived home after the trip to Orient.

In the first half Town were played off the pitch. We had no reply to Sotiriou who scored 2 easy goals. It wasn't looking good for us with the prospect of a 4:0 thrashing a real possibility. The second half was a different story. Introducing Burrell after the break seemed to be the change Harrogate needed and the momentum shifted when O Connor scored followed by Thompson 3 minutes later.

2:2 was a fair score over the 90 minutes Altogether a grand day out and an unexpected point.

On Good Friday we went 2 down and waited until the 89th and 98th minutes to score and draw level. Now if only we could stop going 2 goals down before we decided to turn up and play we might have a chance of staying up

Bradford City 3-1 Sutton United

Fantastic performance capping off a great Bank Holiday weekend.

Delighted for Cook, after he squandered a great chance against Crawley then hitting the woodwork twice today - and what a brilliant, solo finish it was.

We needed that today. It should give the lads great confidence going into the Rochdale game - which I’m now looking forward to.

2 points off 3rd place with a game in hand.

Poor game between two poor sides that I already have zero recollection of, excluding the brief moment Tom Davies attempted to be Paulo Maldini and nearly set up a genuinely quality goal. Hawkes naturally missed the target. Roll on end of the season. How Johnny Williams ever played for Wales I have no idea.

It was a real shame that Hawkes didn’t finish after excellent play from Tom Davies and a great through ball from Turner-Cooke. Rovers down to the bare bones 8 senior pros missing, still battled hard. Swindon looked toothless.

Rochdale GK made 4 top saves, best goalkeeping performance for a long time at the Mill.

We don't bottle everything. We're just not very good. You were unlucky that we were missing 4 or 5 from our usual line up when we played at your place so had even less ambition than normal. Rearguard action par excellence.

First goal we conceded yesterday was scripted. Missing Masterson at the back due to concussion protocol and his replacement Wright cushions a defensive header straight on to the Cobblers players foot. Does he get an assist?

Cobblers deservedly edged it though, which is admirable due to their injuries and it helps keep Lardarse out of the automatics, so every silver lining...

No Eastmond, no Randall, no hope.

A very poor performance from Sutton yesterday. Bradford should have been further ahead before the penalty on the half hour, fortunately for us Jack Rose made some great stops.

After winning the penalty rather controversially Lee Angol took it. Harry Beautyman, who was captain yesterday, is our penalty taker when Rob Milsom isn’t on the field. And of course the penalty was awful. You can’t really waste golden opportunities like that in a game where you’re under the cosh. An equaliser on 30 minutes could have changed the balance of the game.

Bradford got the goals their dominance deserved in the second half, fortunately Bugiel scored to make the score line a little respectable.

Overall an afternoon to forget. And that’s our playoff hopes well and truly in the gutter. Feels like games are just something to get through before the season ends. We should finish top half, and possibly in the top 10, which is a fair achievement considering our means, and it gives us a decent base to build upon.

Another massive win for us, which as we have mentioned a million times, is a huge achievement considering the bodies we have out at the moment. I would imagine that if we had a few of those injured available we would have been able to have a decent grip on 2nd by now.

Really surprised Gillingham didnt give it more of a go tbh. We had a Canadian chap making his debut in English football at CB and then 5'9 CM Jack Sowerby at CB in the second half. Also top scorer Sam Hoskins playing at RWB is not ideal but at aleast passable. Yet none of them were targeted as much as I thought they could be. I know Gills are Jekyll and Hyde home and away but felt their away support deserved a bit more attacking intent. Not sure Harris will be the man to take you forward next season either.

Hondemarck's winner was deserving of winning any game though, Nichols should have levelled it at the end though.

We are beyond the breaking point when it comes to injuries at CM and CB, would take 1 point at Carlisle next week right now, going to be so tight at the end.... could see it coming down to goal difference again.
