had great experience against that when we spanked Notts County to be fair.
Aidan Stone as a sweeper keeper is one thing i never thought I would see!

Surprised we are wearing our home kit tonight as its got a fair bit of gold on it, assumed we'd debut our new Wedgwood Blue Greek Vase kit considering it was unveiled at the weekend, should be a decent occasion regardless, you sold out?

Not even close, our attendances for this cup have been embarrassing.

Ours haven't been great at home in the cup but it isn't the same as the FA Cup I guess.

We closed the biggest stand for the earlier rounds.

Does not look like it’s sold very well tonight, goes against the grain for us but I imagine many are not bothering and will wait for the FA Cup which is more desirable plus not a mid-week.

3 home games in a week and this is the casualty I suppose.

Lets be honest, Wrexham is a bigger pull than Port Vale these days.

I honestly think they won't ever leave, and we're not a toy compared to Salford.

It’s more to do with what cup and it being midweek, if you swapped the teams around it be the same.

As others said above, it's nowt against Port Vale it's just circumstance - I won't be coming back tonight (though in London with work anyway) and many others will struggle - I think the Saturday game with the evening kick off has caught the fans attention, also end of month.

Excuses, yeah - but it is what it is.

If its at Vale Park we'd probably only get 5k home fans for it max.

Garrity and Lowe recover that’s a boost. Strongest we could go with the injuries. Big Uche v Flint should be interesting!

Got to play without Akins for the first time in forever, be interesting to see how we manage without him.

Nice little ground Field Mill, haven’t been for 20 years when John Durnin scored our winner in Division 2 (league one), sure we were opposite end then though.

Dominated that and had plenty of chances but as usual no one capable of putting them away.

Our midfield is controlling the game which in fairness is our strong point, Arblaster is levels above and Devine has had his best game. Pretty much the England U20 midfield two there but we’ve again been wasteful and fell asleep once, in league one we probably concede that and games done.

Superb deserved goal for Vale.

We have massively missed Akins tonight, and did have one big chance in the first but Vale clearly the better side so far.

Didn’t get to the game as down in london for work, but those stats looks like there was only ever going to be 1 winner and fair enough too.

It couldn’t last forever, if someone said at the beginning of the season the first game we’d lose was the evening of halloween they’d have been laughed out of town.

As i did after the playoff final, i wish port vale the best in the next round and hope they get a whopper of a tie.

Think that was as good as we’ve played for a bit but regardless of that all the best to the Stags. Top club and hope you get promoted this season.

Cheers bud! hopefully we can learn from it and go from there, hope you get your league form sorted.

Hope you get a cracking tie in the next round.

If we were gunna lose this is the one for me, we improved in second after making changes including big news in the likes of Oates and Macca being back. Better team won tonight, never got quite going properly and that’s in part to the opposition who played well.

That lino was absolutely dreadful, did she think a player being on the floor means he’s not involved in any offside decision? Bemused by some of those second half calls which were comical, but nothing that changes a deserved Vale win.

Got it wrong re the crowd too, 7500 there tonight which is decent. Anyway I hope Vale get a good cup tie to actually make some money of out the cup.

Furthermore it gives us a grounding, we’ve played the 3 sides above us once already, and in each match we’ve been comfortably the better side.

This isn’t a dig at them but maybe a barometer for us all who’ve aspirations of going up,

I’d have rather lost this than a league game and hope it holds us in good stead

Was probably our most complete performance of the season in fairness and our midfield three of Arblaster, Ojo and Devine were outstanding, as I said before we've got one of the best midfield's I have ever seen at Vale in the time going but just lack a goal threat up front but we were more quicker yesterday and created countless chances.

Devine has taken time to get going but has started to click with us now which considering the hype about him being Spur's big future star etc its pleasing to see and Arblaster was unplayable.

Fantastic night and result against a very good side in Mansfield, hopefully for them it shows whats needed to make the step up in League One (and despite our midfield we still have a lot to improve to be competitive at the higher end).

Its a top club Mansfield, their fans were classy after the Play Off Final and largely were classy again last night, as with a lot of Valiants we've had a soft spot since the final and really hope we can meet again next season in League One, decent ground and welcome at the club, was a good atmosphere and their fans were singing throughout.

Best of luck for the rest of the season and hopefully you can get the job done this season and build another long run.
