Gus honeybun, showing your age there Rob :bg:

Our first game of the season, looking forward to it. Don't think I have seen Scunthorpe play before, probably because I am not predeposed to a team that also claims the moniker 'the irons'.

Totally agree with Rob. It can be risky, and someone will tonk us at some point, but generally it is successful. Moreover, Adams is a good learner he took a year to get to grips with league 2, and then worked out the exact team and style of play he wanted. Imagine he will do the same again in this league.

What is Scunthorpe's approach/style away? Who should I look out for, so that I can appear informed?

Do Scunthorpe travel in numbers or will they bring only a handful? Indeed, in this league who brings a good following?

We won't bring many. It's a long way. 200 at the most. We will be compact and hard to break down and we always have the ability to stick the ball in the net with Morris and Madden in the team. We look very solid defensively this season but a little bit lacking in creativity. Look out for our number 6, Funso
Ojo who is Belgian and our young right back Levi Sutton. I fancy us on Saturday if I am honest. It's a game I would like us to win because we all know we will lose next week

We are not "the irons", we are "The Iron" - singular.

We will also win 2 or 3-0.

2-0 for me. Think it will be quite a comfortable win in the end.

Derek Adams has marked us down as a one man team.

Considering Morris has been shit for a while now that really isn't true. We rely on Hakeeb a lot more for his creativity and Duane Holmes off the bench to create stuff. Morris scored a nice goal last week but was poor really.

Don't feel as confident as the other Scunny fans, think it'll be a 1-1 draw.

I saw the article/quote I assume you are referring to. I would take it with a huge pinch of salt. Adams likes to play mind games and use misdirection.

One potentially significant sideshow in this game is the ref, Mr Sarginson. He was in charge in the game where Leyton's captain roughly pushed to the ground the ball boy who was returning the ball to the corner post. Some Greens think he lied in his report and actually did see the incident but chose to do nothing about it - the video certainly allows that interpretation. Personally for about 70 mins he was fine, and then joined that fairly rare breed of refs who lost control of a game. My hope is that the fans don't boo him because on the night once they got on his back his decisions became more and more bizarre - and I say that more as an ex-ref than a fan in the stands.

I think we'll win and I also think we'll turn Home Park into something of a fortress this season.

We are "The Iron" and never have been "The Irons". We're likely to play in our home kit of claret and blue, which may confuse you even more.

Our away style this season is fairly predictable - rubbish. Poor against Rochdale and shockingly bad against Middlesborough. If we play the same against Argyle, we will lose. If we play as we did at the start of last season, we will destroy you.

You'll likely see a lot of our new goalie, because we are not that good at the moment. Our CB Wallace has interested Championship clubs, new midfielder Ojo can play, Adelakun is a real talent out wide with some skill for you to hopefully admire and up top is Madden. Paddy's season hasn't really started yet and he is misfiring. Must be watched though.

Bank Holiday weekend . . . Plymouth away might be a pull for some but a deterrent for more probably. I doubt we'll take many. Couple of buses maybe and some supporters from closer to Plymouth, eg I know Scunny fans going from London, South Wales and Cornwall. Normally, we have a respectable away following in proportion to our home crowd and the town's population, but likely not tomorrow. I remember going down and back for a night game, rained all the time, but we brought home 3 points.

2-0 Plymouth.

The Iron, right my apologises. Thanks for the insight as to how you play, very helpful.

Nice and sunny down here, virtually no wind good day for footie, guessing the crowd will be 9-10,000.
