Ironically enough, many of our fans complain about a lack of local coverage. I don't quite see it, but I definitely hear more about Ebbsfleet and Charlton than I care to.

We used to get a lot more! Although I'm guessing that's because Charles Webster is a lifelong Fleet fan.

Now Steve Tervet has moved to Australia, our Kent Online coverage (as will Dartford's) will probably drop quite a bit. The new guy seems OK, but Steve was excellent in his coverage for us.

Are you seriously saying that top players will sign for Maidstone over Dover because they offer a better highlights package, the opportunity to be interviewed every week and a better player profile on the website?

God you must put in some hours of practice to be such a pratt. For the umpteenth time read what I say carefully before you come out with such utter nonsense. What I said was the first thing players considering joining us (or for that matter any NL club) will do is scan that clubs web site for info, perhaps videos on style of play, facts, stats, and maybe even the forums, and don't start that rubbish about players not reading them.
If nothing is updated, if loads of bits and pieces are missing am simply saying, no more no less that it hardly creates a good first impression, and quite what Maidstone have to do with anything I really don't know. This is an issue for supporters anyway, and judging by the responses it is clearly evident that a lot of improvement can be made at many clubs, clubs like the one you and I support who are demonstrably failing in this department, not that you appear to give a raspberry's pip about it.
But there you go, tried and start up a decent conversation, and what happens a five year old pops in, adds his two pence worth and ruins it :bang:

We are too good off the pitch . All our emphasis seems to be on posh bars and restaurants to encourage the corporate brigade to invest and wine and dine in the club.

Allegedly last month palios flew to china to see if he could get extra overseas investment into the club and to launch our acadamies over there, he sat investors down to be richly entertained by sutton v tranmere live on bt. Potential investors were treated to 89 minutes of songs about brabin out whilst bt showed our supporters behind brabins bench openly abusing him and threatening him unless he quits after his signings had served up another turgid performance.

For some reason he was sacked the day after??? Palios hasnt commented on the levels of investment that were generated by his presentation.

The point being here it seems, palios will put up with terrible defensive football and the fact we have no chance of promotion but god help anyone who messes up his attempts to suck ip to foreign investors.

No allegedly about it. You must have seen the club statement on the investment from the Chinese government. To be fair off the field we are top end championship. On the field, well, shite!

We get a pretty shit deal of news coverage from all around really.

BBC Kent are only interested in Ebbsfleet and Maidstone, although Matt Gerrard does a fantastic job with the online commentary.
Dover Express is atrocious in general and seems disinterested in the club, having made the sports reporters redundant. Same goes for Kent Online. Never seen any mention of the club on South East Today or the local ITV news. Poor all round, especially considering the only club better than us in the county is Gillingham.
That does seem very confusing to me. Radio Kent mentions us and Ebbsfleet but not you, I seem to remember Ebbsfleet getting a lot of attention from South East Today when they were still Conference proper along with Crawley but now they never mention non-league full stop, and all of them are up Charlton's asses praising the smell but have always ignored Bromley even though it's officially Kent and Charlton is only technically Kent.

Championship off the pitch, non league on it. I continue to be astounded by the Palioses' initiatives around the club, and, at the same time, by the sheer awfulness of the football.

Even the Gravesend Messenger mentions Charlton as much as us ffs. Used to mention Dartford when Tervet was around too.

The coverage for non-league Kent clubs, on the whole, is shit.

The Dover Express usually has a huge picture of a DAFC player on the back page with a paragraph about the game underneath. Then inside is a two page spread on the local lawn bowls league, a page on rugby and a page for skittles/darts.

Then people wonder why crowds are so low

Considering there's no League Clubs nearby, apart from Gillingham which is still a few miles, that's shocking!

Our match highlights are also shown on the regional BBC and ITV News which is good.
What I would say is that Cheltenham falling into the National League pretty much forced our local media to up their game in covering FGR and that has carried on into this season. Although I think they also realise we are growing and hopefully will be in the Football League one of these days .. maybe ... perhaps.

I know it is. They don't even have reporters based in Dover for anything any more, and I'm pretty sure they've laid off most if not all of their sports reporters. Apparently they were asking Richard Harvey (made redundant from KM, now works for Dover Athletic I think) to provide match reports for free which is unreasonable.

Amongst their readership, probably.

I maintain that the only people who buy local newspapers are old people to find out when their friends have died.

Jesus. I know ours aren't great, but that is far worse!

Anyway, it doesn't matter. Players only join a club on seeing match highlights from past seasons. ;)

Of course, still haven't forgiven you for luring away Tom Bonner with your fancy highlights packages

we don't do highlights anymore, unfortunately. Stopped them in Daish's final season, he said it gives the opposition an advantage (bollocks), and we've continued to not do them.

When you've got managers like Cowley spending all week watching Dover matches on repeat then turning up without a clue how to beat Dover, I'd be releasing as many highlights as possible.

fair play! There's no reason for us not to do highlights. It's daft.

I note that my fellow City fans are studiously avoiding this thread for some reason.

We have no media coverage. That must apply to all non league clubs in the London area.
