Scott Golbourne I believe, released this summer. He'll do a decent job for you, nothing spectacular but steady enough.
Just signed Tareiq Holmes-Dennis from Huddersfield for an undisclosed fee. Strange, we must also be expecting another LB (DC did say he wants 2 players for every position) as he did comment about a LB who has had 400 appearances.

Any thoughts Charlton, Oxford, Plymouth, Oldham & Huddersfield fans?

I'd ask Pompey but it seems he played their opening game last season and got injured for the rest of the season

It looks like I've given you a bum steer there Gassy, my apologies. It was on our forum that SG was signing for you and he's local and available so it made sense.

No worries fella - I still wouldn't write it off though, especially as DC specifically mentioned an experienced LB. Golbourne definitely fits the bill..

We just need 2 strikers desperately now. I imagine this is more of a priority than the training ground etc right now

Made a positive impression from what I remember. Better going forward again from what a remember but that was a while ago and no doubt developed his game since.

If I were a gashead (shudder!! ;) ), I would be more concerned about DC than anything else. Promises of new training ground and investment plus movement on the stadium were supposedly made when he signed a new deal and haven't really been delivered on. I would imagine he's a tad fed up especially if he doesn't get decent funds to compete.

Well I can't argue with that, although it seems he is getting the budget he would want (within reason - I'm sure we'd all want Man City's).

He seems pretty happy at the moment in his interviews so I think we're safe for the next year or so. But if the training ground doesn't start happening in the next 12 months then yes, I'd think this is a huge problem for us. But I have no doubt that DC will outgrow Bristol Rovers.

It would be a f*cking dream though to have DC as one of those managers that you end up having for 10/15 years. He could do a Wenger and build the stadium himself through transfers... Hell, maybe that's the plan...

All is going according to plan...

Apparently Hull have a 40% sell on clause for Conor Townsend, cheers Mark Robins for that.

Just you wait fella, top scorer of our reserve team this season

Yeah he's not very good. He has some nice movement and looks technically good on the ball, but I don't know what it is, he's just never in the box to score. He has a lot of touches/passes but I don't know. Then when he does get a chance, he usually fluffs it. At the beginning of the season it was a case of not taking chances, after a while of coming on as a sub, it became not even getting chances.

I remember Harrison let him take a penalty (to finally score his first goal) and of course he missed. Eventually he did score 1 goal. That was it all season though.

Strange player, I get the feeling there is a great scorer in there - but I don't know where it is.

And to think as it stands, he will be leading our front line against you lot on the opening game of the season :eyes:

How much did you pay for him in the 1st place? If low, that might explain the sell on clause being 40% as we did the same when signing Kemar Roofe from West Brom.

Nichols is definitely better than he’s showed you so far. He’s most likely had his confidence knocked when Posh fans were getting on his back. Definitely a good player in there and he showed some superb finishing with us, albeit in L2.

Hopefully he will get off to a good start this season and score some goals.

Nichols is just Luke James' long lost brother, both will have a career in the bottom tier at best.

It was very little so that would explain it.

No problem with Luke James...at least he put himself about a bit and tried whilst being shite, unlike 'timid Tommy' who was frightened of the ball.

Shay McCartan goes to Lincoln on loan, surprised really as we seem thin on the ground with viable striker options if Wyke goes. Jones is a sick note, Brunker is a trier but Sunday League level, Patrick is not ready IMO.

Unless this means we have signed a replacement or Wyke’s staying...

He looked a real player in the few friendly appearances we saw of him. Very energetic down the flanks. Real shame he got crocked as it looked like we had a genuine replacement for Enda Stevens.

Think they'll be a few Pompey fans watching him with interest this year wondering who got the better deal given we signed Brown.

We've signed Marcus Browne on a season long loan from West Ham. He is a 20 year old attacking midfielder/forward. Haven't a clue what he is like.

Yeah, he’s quality.

A far better player than Morgan Fox who was ahead of him for some bizarre reason. He can defend but is good going down the wings too with a good delivery.

It’s funny, at the time the move to Huddersfield looked good for his development but they were unexpectedly promoted to the PL and it turned out to be the opppsite.

Think you’ve got a good one, personally.

So the Jack Marriott saga is over and he has joined Derby County for £x million.

Sky say it was £3m rising to £5m including add ons, but I’d be surprised if it was that low.

Anyway, we’re in the money regardless.

Meanwhile, Luton have rejected a bid from WBA for Jack Stacey. Again, like Dan Potts I’d want £750k for him plus add ons.

Wouldn’t surprise me if MacAnthony was doing something funny with the finances to screw us out of the sell on.

We don't have enough players to fill a squad for the friendly tonight, due to an overall thin squad and injuries.

We have decided to combat that by having Florent Cuvelier (a frequently injured player) on trial tonight.

Lovely bloke, used to be near Premier League quality but he has been absolutely decimated by injuries. He's good enough when he does play now but it's far too few and far between. Still loved by all Walsall fans though.

Holmes Dennis played for us quite a while ago during probably our worst ever period and was one of the worst players of that period.

Seems to have done well since though so wouldn't go much on how our fans rate him Gassy! I would have struggled to have been motivated in the side he played in.
