Rumours from multiple sources (incl a Wxm mate who knows people at the club) that Brandon Hanlan is off to the Hollywood Dream Team for 350k.

I mean, he’s OK, but I’d certainly say you could get better for that money, so I’m fine with this to be honest.

Have we left it too late for a replacement though…
De we have an add on ?

Bloomfield seems pretty disappointed Wycombe are selling him, yet he rarely starts?

I don't quite understand it either to be honest - although Hanlan played very well on Saturday, he doesn't consistently do so to my mind, and I don't think he's irreplaceable by any means, especially if we're getting decent money for him.

Maybe Bloomfield's concern is that we're not going to be able to find a replacement in time before the window shuts - that would make more sense to me, as we're certainly not scoring from open play right now, and this is something that really needs to be addressed.

But our biggest problem seems to be providing service to the forwards right now, rather than necessarily the forwards themselves.

Although we played more counter-attacking and direct on Saturday, that isn't representative of how Bloomfield has generally set up the side to play - but the problem with playing a more ball-to-feet style is that the play often breaks down before we can get it to the forwards.

It sounds like Hanlan has performed for you exactly as he did for us. Flashes of brilliance but otherwise anonymous and not many goals.
I guess Ainsworth thought, like Barton, that he could develop him into a better player but doesnt sound like thats happened, bar his games against us typically!

Sounding like we've landed Tino Anjorin on loan from Chelsea. Another ex-wonderkid. Let's hope he does better than his predecessors i.e. Tottenham's Dane Scarlett last season and Arsenal's Miguel Azeez before that.

Callum Morton now rumoured for us..

He was amazing for us after he came in a few years ago in the covid playoff final. Worked tirelessly and was a tidy finisher. Seems like he benefited massively from playing alongside Vadaine Oliver though as its gone south for him since then. Surprised really, thought he would be a good L1 player at least.

We've played him out of position a lot of the time.

I think he's best either on the wing, or maybe in the hole behind the striker where he can make runs and scare defences.

But we've tried to play him as a lone frontman on a fair number of occasions and hoof it up to him, which simply does not work, he's terrible in the air. We should have known that when we signed him though.

And we’ve apparently had a bid rejected for Harry Cardwell at Southend. I mean, what did we offer them, 50p and a mars bar! They’re skint so surely upping it to £1 should get the deal done :P1:

Not a new signing but super Sam Hoskins has signed a new 3 year deal with us. Considering his goal return in the last 18 months that is a huge boost for us. Does not get involved in general play as much these days but he is far and away our best finisher, versatile and rarely injured. Will have been with us 11 years by the end of the deal.

He literally did one thing on Saturday - fair play, it was crucial though.

I actually think that’s why his goal returns have shot up recently. Happy to be more peripheral and pop up when needed, for example Saturday where we left with a deserved 3 points because of him.

His work rate is absolutely phenomenal too, hardest working player we’ve had in many a year. Lungs like dustbins.

On track to be our 2nd highest appearance maker should he make 3 years.

Think we're in for a busy 2 days..
Luke Harris from Fulham on loan, Mason Burstow from Chelsea, again on loan
Will Evans on a permanent from Newport, Harry Cardwell from Southend permanent

Also apparently been in contact with Wolves re Alfie Pond if Hartridge goes, apparently Rotherham also interested in him.

Not a chance re Burstow. I think we may see a Chelsea loanee though…apparently whoever it is played in their u21 team last night.

We have been linked with Jonson Clarke-Harris, officially, with Darren Witcoop stating it’s between us and Bristol Rovers.

We‘ve pretty much spent the summer wheeling and dealing, haven’t paid any fees upfront, so it would surprise me somewhat if we got to the final day of the window and dropped seven figures on a striker. Part of me thinks it’s probably easy for someone to drop our name in the mix - especially when it sounds like Brighton are getting closer to the £3m valuation for Cashin.

I’m not sure. I don’t think Warne and JCH had a brilliant relationship last time they were together either.

If Hanlan's off (and all indications are that way) then it looks like we're in for our ex-striker Uche Ikpeazu, who is a free agent and was actually pretty good for us in our one season in the Championship.

Strangely he's kind of like a better version of Hanlan, an awkward, gangly physical striker with some pace...except his finishing's better than Hanlan's. Both are crap in the air though...

His career has floundered a bit since he left us to be fair, which is probably the only reason he'd be prepared to drop into League One, but I think he could do some damage at this level.

Loved Uche, when he linked up with Andoh he was outstanding for us but dropped off after Andoh did his knee in.

Still remember a Doncaster player rugby tackling him as he burst through and was literally being dragged along the floor as he kept running!

Our resident ITK has now said that JCH to Derby is one to watch, but under the caveat that we are also willing to wait until the January window for him.

We will see - I'm still yet to be convinced but he's been right about everything this summer. The only one that he missed on was Rhodes and reading between the lines, we couldn't get it done financially. Warne made comment about having to pull out of an agreed deal because the numbers were going to kill us roughly the same time.

Signed attacking midfielder Tino Anjorin on loan from Chelsea. If he can stay fit he's a championship level player. Played 15 times for Huddersfield and was good there. Big ifs on fitness and attitude.

Sure that was Swindon away? Tuesday night and we drew 2-2 with a last gasp Sam Foley penalty? Only point I've ever seen us pick up at Swindon.

He also did similar away at West Brom when he dragged Craig Dawson along with him as he grabbed his shorts.

Feels like a both a coup and a bit of a risk signing at the same time. Given our lack lustre start to the season, there's instantly a lot riding on him to suddenly turn us into an attacking force.

Could be a key player for us if he remains fit, but feel a little deflated that here we are again relying on loans to be the missing ingredient after making so many permanent signings, and previously being told that loans were only there to top up the squad.

Sam Nombe to Rotherham confirmed for a ‘significant undisclosed fee’, which breaks their transfer record.

Good luck to him. He gave everything, even when there was a lot of interest in him. Hope he smashes it!
