As already mentioned in the FA Cup thread, our home game against Exeter will now be a Tuesday night.

We're a bit weird at the minute. Can't remember exactly but along the lines of unbeaten in 12 but drawn 8 or something daft. It's kept us ticking over but has felt a bit flat over the last few weeks.

It's not been the kindest run of fixtures, it just would've been nice to add another 2 or 3 wins in there.

A bit like us with draws, form table from the last 10 - we haven't lost a game, whereas MK have - however, they've won 8 of those games hence the return of 25 points while we've only managed 18.

You've got 16

Yeah, it goes feel a little Mansfield/FGR like at the minute and it coincided with a few injuries through the spine of the team.

Obviously against you it ended up being a couple of dropped points given when both sides scored and throw the Carlisle debacle and not doing enough against 10 man Oldham and it's felt like another missed opportunity to get some decent points on the board.

In hindsight, I think the wining margin in the Port Vale game was the worst thing to happen because it's stemmed from that game!

Was mentioned at one point actually at our end... after that 6-2 we picked up 3 wins and 2 draws and didn't concede for 7 hours! It appeared to give us one almighty kick up the arse with the fall out from it, aside from the Swindon performance we've generally channelled it well.

I don't like it when we get a run of draws. Not just for the obvious reasons but I think some complacency sets in... 'Oh we were unlucky'....'On another day' etc. Whereas is there is a loss in there its a bit of a kick up the ass and it'a 'only' 1 point difference.

We’ve got Newport at the CG this weekend - after our annual dumping out of the Cup by a non league outfit.

Just the sort of roughneck cloggers who’ll have little trouble beating us.

Can the we keep the Mansfield and County thread active for those two clubs please? I’ve just thrown up trying to read that thread.

Next Weeks game between Port Vale and Cheltenham apparently at risk due to the substantial damage to the away end with the speaker system also ripped down by Stoke fans.

Repair bill estimated to be between 75 and 100k and no joy in talks with Stoke about the repair bill.

I'm sure you could fit in a couple of hundred of Cheltenham fans somewhere else ?

Difficult, the issue is that the other area's require walking off road around the stadium to the back and the police have issue with that... Vale fans have long wanted the away end as our own due to the better noise and facilities in it but its always been blocked.

Obviously the only entrance is the Paddock from the road but thats the most populated home end with about 2000 plus in it!

If a big deal we could maybe swap venues and see if Cheltenham fancy playing it at theirs and the return fixture at ours I guess.

Sol's first league game in charge, who know's what will happen... ok we're definitely going to get soundly beaten but who know's if he's checked the league table yet/if he'll quit during or straight after the match/if he's imparted his immense self-belief on our players.

I'm hoping the team he put out against in the trophy was him saving the first team for the weekend and focusing on the league, and wasn't what he has decided is our best 11; otherwise we'd be really screwed.

Don't really know anything about Colchester but it's pretty likely we'll lose. It will be interesting to see the reaction from our fans if Sol loses his first two games.

Stevenage for us tomorrow, who are in very good form by the looks of it.

Hopefully they're as poor as they were against us last season.

Did they remove the scoreboard screen so that it can be relocated to somewhere where it doesn't restrict the view?

You never bring 4500 fans so have plenty of room surely to sit either side or below it?

They didn't it was blazing light with Port Vale 4 Stoke City 0 which looked quite good regardless of it being a watered down El Ceramico!

Are they? They lost 4-0 to us the other week.

Grimsby for us tomorrow - no Harry Pell so I'm curious to see who the Grimsby fans will give some grief to.

Should be a good game, we seem to have found a bit of form (despite the Bury game) and Grimsby are playing well also.

Probably a good time for Cambridge to play Rovers. Ollie Banks missing, though his form has dipped recently and others ruled out or doubtful. Hope that the team are concentrating on this game and not Cup ifs, buts and maybes.

Said it a couple of times now, but today at home to Oldham is important for the Alex. We have an awful run coming up, play 9 out of our next 10 against teams in the top half. Given our struggles against those better teams, we need to beat the average mid-table teams(which we still need to prove we are), especially at home.

Oldham are an odd one. Don't score or concede a lot, even more so on the road. Got a few dangerous players and we have struggled against them for years, especially at home where we've beaten them once in our last 8 attempts. Some of our worst performances have come in home games against them as well. Still vividly remember us needing a point on the final day of the 07-08 season and they came with nothing to play for, but beat us 4-1. Then there was the 0-3 Boxing Day defeat the following season, with my favourite player Lee Hughes bagging 2.

Would probably take a point, but a win would give us a bit of confidence ahead of the tough Xmas and January run, plus would give us some room should we have a bad next few weeks.

We’re slowly slipping away which is not too unexpected. We are a better away side though, so some glimmer of a chance today I think. With Liam Shepherd expected back from injury that will give us more options. If we could only score we'd be lethal! Just hope we don’t catch Yeovil on one of their free scoring days!

In the meantime, we’ll be wondering how we will solve our goal scoring problem. I would imagine bringing in someone under the radar from the lower leagues whose built like a big house, either that or more pacey wingers who can’t add anything to the goal tally themselves. (Bring back James Norwood).

Genuinely surprised seeing how good you were at our place. I still think you will finish above us, probably in the play offs

Incredible how there is no mention of it on the Stoke website. If they can't even acknowledge it then it really is appalling. You would think this was an opportunity to bring the city together, not tear it apart.

No statement at all, just a few fans and their supporters club with a brief statement whilst the local Stoke fan who does the column in the paper essentially tried to shrug it off as everyone’s fault bar Stoke.

I've seen this mentioned by a few of your fans on here, but isn't this 'goalscoring' issue a touch overblown? You are the 7th highest scorers in the league and the highest scoring away from home by a margin of 3. Yes, there have clearly been issues at home, but on the road, there seems to be no problem at all. A 4, two 3s, 2 twos and no blanks in any of your 10 away league games.

Against a sliding Yeovil side that have extended their manager instead of firing him, I'd imagine you'll be well in with a chance of winning.

Your right is it at home where were have a problem, the goals generally have dried up more recently. I don't travel to away games much, so have had to endure frustrating home results.
We have a good record against struggling sides, so as you say, we have a good chance today.

We are short on out and out strikers, we have two, one of which is a young lad on loan from Ipswich who has a long way to go to be accomplished, the other one you know well. It probably is fine lines, so come January a chance to add another option is pretty much a certainty. But still time to get back on track.

Yep, admittedly looking in from afar these days I'm really pleased with how Cooper has progressed the team this season and the late transfer of Doidge has been the only slight fly in the ointment. Get the home frustration but it's as much a testament to progress that what would have been the holy grail of mid-table obscurity last term will seem a bit of an underachievement this. Massive stride forward.

Very few teams win at Colchester so I'm not expecting anything from this one. Free hit for Sol and the lads. Not sure what's happened to Evans - we could have done with him in defensive midfield.
