Best: Mansfield, although Lincoln were also very good for forty five minutes. MK were not great against us, but were in poor form at the time. Worst: Cambridge and Macclesfield were both pretty poor.

This has just been released from the minutes of a meeting a few weeks ago. These comments from our manager, who has been connected to our club for 20 years, beggar belief and make us even more of a laughing stock:

"Mr Way explained the difficulties of attracting players to play and live in Yeovil. He said that London and Manchester clubs had no difficulty getting local players but getting players to come down to Yeovil was difficult. He said that the Conference winning team that he had played in all lived locally, they socialised together, met wives and girlfriends here and were accessible to the fans around the town. Those days have gone and will never return. The only way Yeovil got to sign Gary Warren was because he lives in Bristol. The Club had to maintain five properties to house the young signed and loan players. It was costing the Club £150,000 a year. Some of them had no idea how to cook and whilst they could come to the Club for a breakfast and lunch, they would often go to fast food outlets for an evening meal. This wouldn’t happen if this was a Premiership or Championship club, they would be able to get an evening meal at the club as well. He asked what Yeovil had to offer and answered it by saying that Yeovil had nothing; there was only Leonardo’s in Yeovil"

Grimsby and Notts Co I thought were the worst.

MK I thought looked strong and had some good players, particularly that guy up front but didn't play that good football. Oldham also looked strong defensively when they visited but were incredibly negative.

Haven't seen Lincoln or Bury, but if Lincoln were any better than last season wouldn't surprise me if they were most people's top side.

Exeter also decent, only team to beat us in the league so far. Stockley very good.

Best I have seen at PP is Mansfield back in August in a 0-0 draw.

Worst was Cheltenham a week earlier we beat them 1-0 but should of been a lot more.

Was a decent performance, we have genuinely seriously improved since that though.

So a big game for us at home to Yeovil today. A win would make it three in a row, put us on the fringe of the autos and consign the Macc defeat to the blip bin. A defeat could see us outside of the playoffs.
Like most games of late, I have absolutely no idea what will happen.

I'm liking these snippets from Yeovil meetings, they are like some serialized story in the national press. Certainly more entertaining than Xmas tv!

I'm glad someone's enjoying it lol. This is another set of comments from our manager. Imagine if anyone else's manager had said this...

"When asked why he had announced that the Club was going for a top 7 finish this season, Mr Way said it had been said to encourage the players. Asked what the aim was now, he said staying up. He then reminded everyone that he had saved the Club from relegation for the last three seasons. He said he was a hero. He said that he could walk into any other club and that he would not be at Yeovil for ever and when he left he would be missed. He stated that the fans knew nothing about football"

I totally agree, I have no idea how this one will end up.

We continue to be unable to score if our life depended on it and we face the defensively sound and in form Lincoln at home. On Boxing Day. When we're usually shite.

But, that being said, we do occasionally pull a decent performance out of our arses, a la Tranmere. Maybe today will be today.....nah, 3-1 Lincoln win.

Not so sure about defensively sound, we currently seem to be finding ways of turning good starts into 60 minutes of backs to the wall. We have a cracking back 4 but there are a few collective mistakes in there (e.g. the keeper on Saturday, and some horrors at set-pieces)
I'd be more concerned about the other end if I were you. Andrade is fit, Anderson has his mojo back, and Akinde is starting to score without a penalty.
Enjoy the game.

Rovers v Shrimps, the reverse fixture saw a late Gilmour goal earning a 3-4 win, with a post-match scuffle involving allegations of racial abuse. Crowd to be bolstered by voichers linked to this game allowing a Spurs ticket purchase and the time of year, probably our biggest crowd although the visitors travelling support unlikely to exceed 200. Don’t think this is a nailed on Rovers win, form has been a bit erratic lately and the Shrimps had a more comfortable home win over Cambridge than we’d mustered a fortnight ago.

I didn’t think either side were that good that Tuesday night tbh, Walker missed that sitter late on.

Walker misses sitter most games? He's still starting to bag like clockwork now though.

With Christmas Day in between fixtures I’m never sure what focus and flow will be retained for these matches. Having played Newport at home fairly recently earning a point was a fair result. They were a strong battling side who gave very little away. Were also a pretty dodged but seldom spectacular. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Points earned away from home puts us top of the league, so I’ll go optimistic and go for a win based on the finest of margins. Probably another deflected goal in their somewhere! You never want to get hammered, so a point would be also be very nice thank you.

Not sure where else to put this so here'll do, but I'm pretty sure I've identified GodsGift's troll account on The Fishy...

Surely the East Midlands thread was the place for that car crash of a post.
Car crash? That is top notch content there. That thread, on the other hand, is a car crash thanks to the terrible Notts/Stags banter. Will take the Lincoln/Town match to resurrect that.

Lee Holmes puts us 1-0 up v Yeovil. Great goal.

Tight game bit we’ve shaded it. Need a 2nd though

No idea how our line up sets out today, it looks if Aspin has heeded fans frustration and gone two up front, and only the four centre halves start!

Monty who’s been in good form is ill so Quigley gets a first league start. Essentially two big men up front, no real pace out wide it would seem so an aerial bombardment looks the most likely.

Grimsby haven’t won away in months, they hadn’t won at home in months before our visit so hopefully we don’t offer them a second gift of the season!

I wish I had written that! But I've got no time for our own forum, never mind the Fishy.

Good to see some Grimsby fans are beginning to wake up to the cold, hard truth anyway ;)

Cambridge beat Crawley 2-1.

Hard to lose to a goal in the 88th minute but until we get some of the players back from injury and suspension we ain't going to get many points.

Connelly back in the side today. It's a beginning.

Despite Morecambe having 12 players on the pitch they’re still a bit shit.

3-0 and could have been more.

Booed off at Vale, proper hoofball and Grimsby have been no better. Bored shitless.

It’s crying out for two actual wide players to get down the flanks... it’s not like we’ve not got Whitfield and Worrall on the bench!

Game here for the taking but showing no signs of actually wanting to take it.

Sounds like a thriller at Vale.

Combined shots on target from both teams....... 1.

We will lose this 2-1, Vale will score first, then we’ll ‘go for it’ and equalise before then conceding a late winner.

It is a miracle we are still at 0-0.

Crewe should be beating us by 2 or 3. We are being torn apart, though putting in some very good last minute challenges. Spent the whole game so far chasing shadows. Feels like Crewe have 2 extra players on the pitch.
