Clough wins manager of the year, happy days.

Had it not been him surely it would’ve been wild at barrow.
Was at the EFL awards last night and looked like the Mansfield contingent were having a good time. Players dipped off before the after party but the rest of the entourage were bang at when I left at 2am

Didn't know until last night with had Dunn as a youngster, one that slipped the net it seems!

Still need a point tomorrow and have sold out home ends for that and saturday so they need to put in one last performance to get over the line.

Can't argue too much, but Okwonkwo? Several better options imo.

For me, Reyes is the best goalkeeper in the league. Wouldn't shock me if he's playing for Chile at the next World Cup. Even higher ceiling then Robert Sanchez.

Would have walked into team of the season if he'd had a full season and didn't play for us.

I think if you put all 3 of our keepers in goal and pretended it was one player they still collectively wouldn’t have got in the team of the season

Reed also had a season on loan with you when he was a youngster at Sheff Utd. I think it was the season you were relegated six years ago.

He was crap against us tbh maybe that was a one off though is he still on loan there?

Come on then who's in there that really shouldn't be?

This should be good.
If you're assuming that I'm going to make the incredibly controversial suggestion that the side with the best attack in the division, best defence, and who are in touching distance of securing the title, might deserve better recognition than a single token nomination & in fact have better candidates for all these awards, then you're absolutely correct.

That Okonkwo must be the second coming of Lev Yashin when he's not on telly or playing against us, because he's been hilarious when I've seen him, but then again Hinchliffe constantly getting overlooked in favour of inferior keepers happened so often down the years that it's just a meme by now.

And well done to your man Jones for being, by all accounts, the least embarrassing Notts County player, but this season that's basically like being awarded the title of Tallest Midget.

There was a running joke amongst our support about being unable to sign Rob Apter in January (due to his being registered with two clubs) as cover for Ethan Pye, but he wouldn't have displaced the division's actual best young player when fully fit.

And if the shoestring managers like Wild and Lindsey are going to be ignored for the Manager award, why give it to the one who is demonstrably third best? Clough's not even had anything close to a crippling injury crisis to maneouvre through. All that stuff about Mansfield winning the title at Edgeley Park was clearly a joke, the authorities weren't supposed to take that seriously.

Love it.

After your earlier post I wasn't assuming, rather more hoping, that you would suggest a few players are removed and specific named players put in their place.

Not only was Jones the "least embarrassing Notts County player" as you put it he was also the best player in league two this season, according to the voting panel. Clearly up against a lot of L2 midget fullbacks.

Must have been all those assists he had over the season :dk:

Obviously being Champions elect (nailed it!) you naturally won't care about such individual awards, and rightly so. Getting a further league away from the National League North is far more important a fantastic achievement for Stockport County Football Club. Fully deserved.

True but because your team dropped so far down the table his value also dropped and now he is on our radar..

Not a fucking prayer he's going to Carlisle next season.
Middlesbrough, Swansea or someone unexpected but I think he's going to go to the Championship and skip L1 altogether.

Not really seen enough of any of the players to have a valid opinion but Okwonko along with Gillingham keeper the best against us.
Keillor Dunn and Rob Apter also stood out against us, Apter ripped us to bits at Prenton Park.

Wrexham keeper was class at our place back in October, only bettered by the Grimsby keeper on Boxing Day but it obviously wasn’t going to be him, I’d have thought it would go to who’s got the most clean sheets though and that’s the Stockport lad isn’t it? Although the dirty bastard put Oates out for the season so fuck him…

For what it’s worth my team of the year would be.. 3412

Hinchcliffe
Flint Demitriou Tomlinson
Crowley Lee Gilbey Jones
DKD
Smith Langstaff

Best team of players I’ve seen against us again in a 3412

Cartwright (Grimsby)
Hayden (Wrexham)
Demitriou (Crewe)
Turnbull (Tranmere)
Apter (Tranmere)
White (Crewe)
Bate (MK)
Darcy (Crawley)
Gilbey (MK)
Mullin (Wrexham)
Young (Swindon)

I know Darcy isn’t a winger like but oh well.

Honourable mentions to Read (Colchester) and Kemp (Swindon)

Bate/Gilbey/Payne/Dean in no particular order are our best players if they were to make it into one of these.

I assume mansfield winning the title after beating you was indeed a joke as no-one from mansfield ever said anything of the sort.

Will be back to top scorers if we get 2 or more tomorrow.

Though a 0-0 would draw would do just fine.

Even we’ve not attempted to play Crowley at wing back. At least not yet.

Unlikely - we play Stockport tomorrow and I would be surprised if it finished 0-0. Or indeed anywhere south of 2-2.

Okonkwo has been brilliant for us him coming in completely saved our season.

That said there are four keepers with more clean sheets than him (Hinchcliffe, Farman, Bass and Pym) and he's second to Hinchcliffe on Clean Sheet percentage.

If I'd have my choices for Wrexham players for team of the year it would be Mullin and Cannon.

Excuse me, the joint best attack in the division. At least until you get acquainted with our defence tomorrow.

We are only one behind so this is all to play for.

Hasn't Mullin gone on a bit of a mad burst recently? Reckon this was decided at least a few weeks ago.
Might be the case....I'm not one to be too bothered by this type of thing but there is half a chance that Mullin ends up as top scorer, despite playing several less games, and hasn't made it.

Elliot Lee was always going to make it in, but Andy Cannon has been our best midfielder.

With very little knowledge of the other 'Keepers in the league, I'm surprised big Arthur made it. He has been good for us, and I think I saw that he has a really high save/shots faced ratio but I thought there would be a better choice somewhere.

A few of our top performers have had spells out of the team as well. Evans, O'Connor, Cleworth and O'Connell have all been excellent, but haven't played the whole season.

The reason that Mullin hasn’t been picked is because they looked at who his goals were against and half of them were against Maidstone and the other half were against Dover.

Best save ratio of any team in the top 4 divisions. But of course a Stockport and Crewe fan who saw him play once know a lot more.
