Rumours Danny Rose has put in a transfer request now, which if true shows how good Darragh/Evans/Fry really are at unsettling players. To be honest he's not looked happy since Flitcroft joined, hence why he suddenly stopped scoring. I imagine it's going to take more than the original £300k though.

This is all a shambles now, either Rose or Angol never mind both and we are desperately short in the striker department so close to the season and the end of the transfer window.

edit; Angol along with Rose is rumoured with Coventry now, can't keep up!

Ok, butdo you know who that one is? I don't think there's anybody in the squad right now that can play in Maris' position - O'Neil is a DM, Lambe is more of a traditional winger from what I've been told (Piero's replacement) and Jevani is not the ideal candidate for that position.

there's Osadebe but tbh something tells me he'll start a couple of matches then never be seen again in a amber shirt, though I hope he proves me wrong.

I sort of agree and am nervous. What happens next is probably key to the season.

Actually O'Neil has done OK (only OK and has missed the chances created) getting forward into the Berry/Maris position and if Lewis and Osadebe are not being shown the door then that is where they need to play - we have better options in the wider positions, even though that 's where Osadebe has been building his confidence in pre-season. I'd have been happier to see all 3 of them gone and depend on the youngsters as back up than see George go.........but that has nothing to do with reality.

Lambe certainly aspires to being more than the winger but in the Jevani (Medi???) mode rather than as a Maris replacement. I think a rejuvenated Amoo is lined up as our Piero replacement, with Tom Knowles as his back up.

Baily Cargill has signed for Franchise, seems like a really good signing for league 2.

I read it as Posh didn’t bid 300k... Mandpsfield were trying to get offers over and above that figure

I read it as Posh didn’t bid 300k... Mandpsfield were trying to get offers over and above that figure

John Radford said on a video on the club twitter feed that the bid was over 300k the other night at this sponsorship event, but it was not clear if that was for both bids or not to be honest. I find it hard to believe both bids are only £300,000ish unless the club is being trolled though.

I have no idea what price we want but it's not going to be lower than £300,000 for Danny Rose.

https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk...ward-danny-rose-takes-another-twist-1-8586693

This suggests Mansfield said the offer was £300,000 for Danny Rose but Barry Fry denies it, obviously. It was probably £298,000.

We've signed Baily Cargill from Bournemouth after signing Baudry from Doncaster yesterday. With four quality CBs (Cargill, Baudry, Moore-Taylor and Walsh) I'm confident our defence will be one of the best this season.

Just hoping we can sign a striker or two that matches the quality we have in midfield/defence.

Hmm. A timeline (using the Mendez-Laing-Inman precedent theory)...
2018 - Posh sign D Rose from Stags.
2019 - after a hit & miss season, Rose signs a season-long loan at Dale.
2020 - signs permanently for Dale... :)

Being serious, he's a good player - wouldn't mind him here at all.

We do, yet still somehow keep moving in the right direction, which is even more baffling

(Slowly) in the right direction for sure. It’s hardly baffling to workout Adam, it’s called substantial continued investment from the Chairman aka One Call

I like what I’ve seen and heard of D Rose, and £300K(+) is a big chunk of change at this level. Bad timing if it goes through

Aspin confirms tonignt a deal was reached with Northampton for Billy Waters but they dragged their heels in terms of committing to it so it fell through. Shame as he would have been a useful player for us.

Don’t believe a single thing anyone at Peterborough has said in the last 24 hours. We never said it was them who made the bid, McBullshitter put that on twitter himself.

Not like that set of scum c*** to unsettle an MTFC member of staff.

Hey Baudry, there's a name I've not heard in a while. He was briefly decent for us.

Anyway with Cargill I'm slightly surprised he hasn't been able to pickup a L1 gig, he should certainly do a job for you. Prior to knee issues he was thought to have big potential, with a phase of regular England u20 callups.

Hopefully a chance to put injuries behind him and get his career moving forwards again.

Hearing only positives re Cargill from Cherries supporters, most like you say expected him to find at least a L1 club or surprised he was released in the first place - heard he held his own against Zlatan a couple of seasons ago. He was apparently linked with Sunderland this summer.

Only doubts I suppose with players like Cargill, Baudry and one or two others we've brought in is their injury records but other than that seem excellent signings for League Two.

Someone on our forum put this up

From "I am the Secret Footballer":

"A new manager needs to stamp his authority on the squad quickly and to achieve this very often he will sacrifice a player... It doesn't matter if the player is capable and well liked (actually, these players are the preferred targets). The process generally involves the player being singled out for ridicule in training and made an example of at every opportunity, before being sent to train with the kids and ostracised from the first team."

Sounds familiar?

TSF goes on to say that he dislikes this approach, as it shows a complete lack of man management skills
Peter Jackson did that with us with Alan Marriott.

He wasn't having his best season but was no way near the worst player in the squad and was a year short of his testimonial.

George Maris leaving us for Rotherham apparently.

Another annoying departure on the eve of a season, I expect us to lose our best players and we obviously can't control when teams decide to put bids in, but it's bloody frustrating.
We had Maris on loan three years back and he must have improved a hell of a lot to get a Championship gig.

Mansfield and Lincoln have both had bids rejected for Rod McDonald at Coventry during the pre-season according to the Coventry Telegraph.

No idea if either are still going for him, but it would be a good signing for both teams.
I half guessing that was before Wharton became available to us.

That said, in our last 3 friendlies we've trialled two or three CB's, so perhaps we are on the look-out for another. Need to sort other positions before we think about getting anyone else there, mind.

This has got Flitcroft’s stench all over it. This would hardly blow up now if it was a planned sale to balance the books. Rose has been forced to put in a request to get out of there. Flitcroft knew he was never going to be in his plans so to have this circus days before season’s start is just another example of his dreadful man management style. Gone by Xmas.

Not really. Hemmings out scored Rose last year, as did Dennis, which makes it even more absurd that Mansfield fans want £400,000 plus

If you ignore the fact we signed our two front men 2 months before the Rose news , then you could be right lol . Regardless , it sounds like Rose might cost more than Dennis and Hemmings combined.

A young forward worth circa £300k who doesn’t start many games must mean you have an incredible forward line, far too good for L2

Rose completely went off the grid after Evans left, but I’m pretty sure Rose got 17 goals last season and Hemmings got a few less he’s twice the player in front of goal than Hemmings. Dennis is a better finisher though. BTW Evans didn’t play him at the start of the season to, he kept coming on and scoring with one of the best minute to goal ratios in the EFL.

It’s not completely ridiculous if you use ya brain mate, he signed a two and a half year contract in January, we are in a position where we don’t have to sell and he’s worth more to Mansfield as our best goalscorer, so it’s not ridiculous to want that much and quite frankly the fact we will get over £300k shows that.

It is classic though. Rose was noticeably absent a lot under flitcroft last year.

MTFC tout their best player and then feign horror at a transfer request. Can't really make it up

I can’t tell if you are being a bit noncey and trying to wum or you actually believe the Darragh/Fry/Evans combo. If the latter you are wuming in a mirror.

So we should believe honest John Radford?

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www....1m-for-mishandling-client-money-1-8987658/amp

Don't believe everything your club says...

I also don’t see what’s complicated about this. Radford employed Evans, knew how he works and was willing to allow that. He now complains when he does it for another team.

You also have Flitcroft telling the local press that Rose can go if the right offer comes in, then a MTFC statement about it’s dissapointment that the player has handed in a transfer request. Hardly surprising after he’s been touted

With the signings of Baudry and Cargill our defence is looking extremely good on paper. A good thing too because our attack is looking fairly suspect and injury hit. If it stays as is I'd expect a lot of low scoring games.

I don’t like Steve ‘Fatty McFatFat’ Evans, and neither do many Stags fans ever since he stabbed Lord Radford in the back, did the dirty on the club and disappeared to L1 and a better salary. Funny that lol

Couldn’t agree more with the earlier comment. Radford and Radford knew all about Evans before appointing their saviour , no use complaining when he carries on his old tricks once hes moved on.

All of this doesn’t mean anything until pen is put to paper and it becomes official that Mansfield’s best goalscorer , who wasn’t going to play much anyway, leaves or stays

In fairness to Danny rose I don’t think anyone knew what tactics flitcroft played at the end of last season, from the players to the fans to the chairman to himself.

I think that Mansfield have probably signed two better strikers than Rose this summer myself, if they can get a reasonably big six figure sum for him then they’ve done pretty well IMO.

Hemmings scored one more than Rose in the league last season, but Rose scored a couple against Shaw Lane in the cup so had more in all competitions.

I’ve never quite got why Rose is so highly rated, to be honest. I know his all round play is supposed to be pretty good, but his goalscoring record is pretty average. 9 in 37 then 14 in 39 is... okay. Decent, maybe. Not what I would expect of a player being mooted for a £300k+ move.
