Just seen that Dean Cox has signed for Eastbourne Borough in national league south.

I can't help think that two seasons without hardly playing is the cause of the drop that low and someone may get a bargain come January and a few games under his belt.

Lincoln fans.. what’s Luke Waterfall like? Been told he’s signing for us shortly.

Tranmere fans.. what’s Noburn like? Apparently he posted something on his Instagram account which suggests he’s signing for us aswell
And then there were two remaining from the NL...

Out of the blue, this one, mind. Wouldn't necessarily class him as a L1 defender, tbh. Certainly not at the level Shrewbsury were at last season and probably lower third L1 at the very, very best. He's still a head it and kick it kinda one, which isn't a criticism because I love that non-league mentality he still has where you head and kick anything that moves, you just maybe need a bit more in L1. Askey will know what he's about, though, having played under him and also against him many times in the NL down the years.

A weird season for him last year with starting in the side but getting dropped because of a slow start to the season (he looked way off it along with Rhead, Habergham and Farman to be fair) before getting himself back in. Then Wilson came in, in January who most thought would replace Waterfall in the side but a combination of Waterfall's form and Wilson getting injured kept him in.

Askey, a bit like Hurst (and Cowley), is the sort of manager to get that extra bit out of players so it wouldn't totally surprise me if he did ok there in that respect, although Askey's more of an expansive, ball playing manager and I'm not sure that'll suit Luke. He needs an organised and compact side around him because he's not overly quick or good with the ball at his feet.

Losing Waterfall doesn't feel like it did when we lost Woodyard or Raggett, though. He's generally been the weaker of the CB's we've had in the last two years whether that was Waterfall/Raggett or Waterfall/Bostwick but he's always stepped up to that sort of level when we've needed him to. He needs someone better than he is beside him. He's only as good as the CB he's partnering. He's not a dominating CB who'll lift others up to his level.

All that isn't to say I wouldn't keep him, because I would. But there's an opportunity, if we get a decent fee, to potentially make ourselves really solid at the back.

So, Waterfall is like a defensive version of Rhead?

I presume Rhead has been to the elbow sharpeners in readiness for Saturday

No, nothing like him.

Akinde and Green up top.

Well apparently we've stepped up our pursuit of Danny Rowe, upping our bid to £175k (rejected) and looking at going back with a higher offer.

It's also been reported that he's expressed a desire to come to Cheltenham - I assume this is purely because at the age of 28 he knows he hasn't got too long left to play in the Football League.

Styles signs for Barnsley on a 4 year deal with an option of a 5th year if Barnsley wish to take it. 500k was the rumoured fee just hope we got some good clauses in there too. Back on loan here till Jan which is good for us too.

Waterfall's a tall centre half who wins a lot in the air and likes to hoof it forwards a lot. Norburn's a central midfielder who passes it well and has a good shot on him, especially on the volley.

Both were excellent players here under Askey in the conference, whether they're league 1 standard I doubt it tbh, especially Waterfall who always seems to need a more commanding player along side him to get the best out of him (in our case that player was George Pilkington)

Certainly has the potential- can get bullied out of a game due to his size so needs bulking up. Always looks for a forward pass though and on his day can control the midfield. Glad he’s gone to a club like you where with the right coaching we can cash in again.

Good to see Bury going back to what they used to do by developing young players rather than being boom or bust.

Just hope a few more clubs catch on in the next few years rather than live a hand to mouth existence signing short term fixes for a year or two on inflated wages.

Just watched his first interview and I don't like the way he pronounces Barnsley so we'll have a refund please.

Apparently Salford City have matched our bid for Angol, and if I was a betting man I'd bet they've probably offered him more wages too. :£

Luke Waterfall has joined the Shrews after they matched his release clause. I liked Luke despite having a shocker on Saturday. One of if not the most decorated captain. Do we think Mbulu will come in or someone else like Sam Hughes?

Having a shocker? You kept a clean sheet, can't have been that bad.

For a proper shocker see Grimsby's "defence".....,,,

Just 2 days to go before the window finally shuts. Can't come soon enough. Should shut before the season imo.

I have heard nothing about Salford bar a twitter rumour, although Flitcroft has confirmed Angol has turned down the offer from Grimsby.

We offered six figures to Mansfield (strongly rumoured to be £125k). I can't imagine we offered anything near the 3/4k a week Mansfield are allegedly paying him, though.

Surprised really that he didn’t go.

Maybe he saw that dodgy defending on Saturday. Could be off to Salford on that basis then

Can’t see there being anything from Salford. The only place I’ve seen this was some Twitter account who referred to him as Lee Angle

With the window on perm signings being a Thursday, I don’t know whether Mansfield are going to benefit or not.

Clubs know they want rid of them both, so could leave it to the last minute to try and bag a bargain price or as other clubs get desperate for a striker they will pay over the odds.

I reckon the former.

Question:

If a player plays for club Y, and has a sell on clause from club X, what happens if club X buys back the player from club Y?

Surely they aren’t entitled to a % of their own transfer?

Ideally the club only want one to leave really, apperantly we are ‘top heavy’ completely disagree personally.

Angol will probably stay with Rose going now I imagine.

Neither will leave unless the price is met, so the above comments are incorrect.
