He's been like that all season. Gonna be tough to hang onto him this summer.

The one on trial with us has hardly played for 2 seasons 1/2 seasons. We’ll end up signing him because he can apparently cover centre back and defensive midfield which we are short in both areas.

Knew us only having one recognised RB in the squad would effect us eventually.

We've signed Ben Pringle until the end of the season. Grimsby fans, any good?

Not really sure why we've let him go to be honest - our squad isn't exactly overloaded with wide players. He'd been in and out of the team lately - mostly because we've been setting up quite defensively to cover for our lack of fit centre halves against higher placed opposition. He did come back in against Macclesfield the Saturday before last but put in a very anonymous performance before getting subbed in the second half. As Paul said, his set piece delivery is very good and we'll miss him on corners.

Not sure if it was Grimsby's decision to cancel the loan, reading between the lines.

PNE reached an agreement with Grimsby Town to terminate Ben's loan

Tranmere is probably closer to Pringle's house, or they're just offering a higher wage percentage.

Free agent in the summer.

Not our player so probably not our decision.

From what I've seen he is gvery good at set pieces especially corners but slow and poor at everything else.

Honestly, think you could do better but sometimes players just fit at another club.

Pringle is desperately slow. Technically great but just not mobile at all, amazed he forged a decent career in the league above where pace seems to underpin most good players. Totally anonymous against Macclesfield last time I saw him.

Given that we’re not a big side and play it on the deck regularly, we didn’t utilise him as a side who have a big guy up top may. Not sure if that’s Tranmere.

It probably wasn’t our decision but the fact that Jolley is more likely to play 3-5-2 now means his chances are more limited. He also probably wants a permanent in now as opposed to waiting for the end of the season.

Very good at set-pieces, James Norwood will be rubbing his hands I reckon.

Sad to see him go but as has been said he's been very hit and miss and is often a fair bit off the pace of the game but no ill feeling towards him, he obviously want to be a bit closer to home, and he goes with my best wishes, apart from when we visit PP that is.

He was very absent against Macclesfield and very frustrating to watch. He told our local rag back in November that he was "falling out of love with football" and it really did show in that game but he does have the talent to be a good player when his head is in it. He was all over the pitch in that game though swapping wings a lot.

Pretty much echo what everyone else has said about Pringle, great dead ball delivery but very anonymous a lot of the time in between.

I made that mistake too, there's another one apparently!!
Haha there’s another one too albeit spelt differently as we sold Rhys Browne to Yeovil last year.

It was Preston's decision to recall him and send him to Tranmere. Better for him geographically and there's a good chance Tranmere will be paying a higher proportion of his wages.

Crawley have released Romain Vincelot and he has been snapped up by Shrewsbury.

We have not seen him on the pitch for ages. It was clear Cioffe didn't rate him but it may be something to do with appearance fees.

Never once played midfield for us which is described as his position. Odd, not good enough for us but good enough for league 1

If it was Preston's decision to recall him then that's a fine bit of business for us. As said, he won't fit in a 352 and his best and arguably only asset is his crossing, which we very rarely make use out of with our lack of height. If we can put his wages into signing a striker then it's completely fine by us. I imagine Tranmere will utilise him better than we could.

leg or player?

I have checked again the club website and they've quoted Futcher as saying "we're looking at options [to replace White]". Judging by those square brackets it must be the player that we are replacing rather than the leg. I'm not sure where we would find a replacement leg at this stage of the season.

You would need Usain Bolt leg to replace it anyway, I reckon white would win the grand national if he’s allowed to dribble and do step-overs during it.

Only just found out about Pringle on our commentary (busy day at work). While I echo the sentiments of my fellow Mariners, I also think a little bit of disservice has been shown to his better qualities. For this level he has a wand of a left foot and when he has others running around after him and he's on song and releasing the ball early he is capable of being one of the best players on the pitch. I read a stat that we had the 2nd most shots on goal from counter attacks a while back and I'd hazard a guess that a fair amount of those started with Pringle getting the ball into space in front of our midfielders and wide attackers to run onto. The negatives are all outlined above though and when he isn't in a game, he may as well not be on the pitch. I'm disappointed he's gone as I think in the right games, he offers something that a lot of teams can't deal with in this division.

Cowley hopeful of making another signing before Bury on Saturday but still wants another one or two after that.

I take the comments about Pringle from the Grimsby supporters with a pinch of salt.

Do that all you want but I don't think any of us disagree with anything the other has said to too much extent. I think he's had a very honest appraisal from all of us there.

It was a joke.....

Although I do think he will be a decent signing for us.

Gut feeling is 1 more out (excluding Wharton who's already gone) and 3 in - DC mentioned an ST and wide player last night but I think we'll see a CM in, too.

That'd take us to 21 then.
