Ok, I would offer you the same advice but then you'd have to leave the forum :2thumb:

Nowt to do with Moniz, this is a completely thankless task - Derry has built what must be the worst and oldest team this division has ever seen. If we hadn't fluked those six wins in a row in October we'd be about ten points adrift at the bottom.

yes imo you would have been better off appointing someone with knowledge and experience of the division.

Like Derry/Abbott who put this incompetent bunch of pricks together in the first place? Or Paul Hart, who managed to draw three winnable games in a row with barely a single shot on target?

Not having a go at Moniz, he could turn out to be a very good manager. Just thought the appointment and timing was odd, what you needed was someone who could come in an get a reaction from the players in the short term and have an immediate impact to get that extra 5% out of the players over the last 6 games and I didn't believe Moniz was the right appointment for that immediate goal.

The players have been trying their hardest the entire season, they're just absolutely fucking shit.

The only way we'd have stayed up this season is if we'd have had Spencer and Murray fit for the majority/any of it.

But there is zero evidence to suggest a round the block manager with previous experience of the division would have done any better. Not every new manager, foreign or domestic, has an impact at their new club, its a myth.

You name me one better apportionment that would definitely have done better with Countys group. You are in no position to claim you have proved right thats for sure.

So what are you saying? that no manager could have done better with this team?

Heard that one about CCFC many times and its never true.

Yes. No one would've been able to come in and stop Mullins, Jones, Smith and Thompson from being decrepit old bastards who should've retired three years ago.

Even with just the slightest bit of common sense, ambition and determination from management and players we would have seen out wins against Walsall & Orient, not to mention get more than a point against Oldham & Crawley. All home games within the last month. We'd be safe now. But instead we're relying on others, big time.

We can all say similar things though. We've dropped four points by drawing 2-2 at Gillingham and 2-2 at Scunthorpe in the past few weeks thanks to goals in the 92nd and 96th minutes - due to inexperience, not making substitutes, giving the ball away cheaply rather than lumping it into touch etc. We've lost more games by one goal than the rest of the division, where just a few draws would see us safe. Similarly lost more home games than anyone else, where a few draws would have us safe. We've lost at home to Notts County, Crewe, Crawley, Port Vale and Coventry by one goal, all big six-pointers and blown it when on top for spells.

It's really fine margins between getting above that line and falling just short, which is what makes it so frustrating as there are so many tiny moments or tweaks that you are convinced would have made all the difference.

I can't prove 100% that any other manager would have done better, just as no one can prove any manager would have done worse. But I can look at there experience and past exploits in the lower leagues and say I think they would have gave County a better chance of picking up results, he hasn't won a game yet so they couldn't have done a lot worse.

I haven't exactly got a list of available managers or applications to sift through and I'm not going to go looking for one, the one that pops to my head immediately because of his appointment at Yeovil is Sturrock, he would have been a better appointment to the end of the season.

We might all be able to say similar things, but I bet none of the other teams down at the bottom are down there because their players aren't fit enough, which compounds the lack of quality. I bet none of them can boast our record of dropping 23 points when scoring first, especially when compared that to the 3 we've gained(in 1 game) when conceding first. Or what about the fact we've only scored 4 equalisers all season. Thats right, we've drawn level 4 times this season. Awful.

If we'd have appointed someone like Paul Sturrock and still been this bad (which we would), our fans would've been right into full on meltdown phase. It's only the players that are getting it at the minute, as opposed to the manager or the board.

LDWLLDLLDLLLWDLLLWLLLWLDLLDDDDDL

That can't just be considered a bad run of form, we're simply a terrible football team.

A lot of teams in this division are terrible, doesn't mean they can't pick up points and get results.

We had it with Pressley and before him in Thorn, its the squads fault. Nobody could do better with this shit group of players is the most common phrase thats thrown out by our fans, its never true.

You're just talking shit about a club you've probably not even seen play this season apart from once/twice maximum. You don't know how we've played, how good the players are. You've theorised to begin with, which is what we all do in a 'outside looking in/it seems' sense and now you're just point blank arguing with the likes of Jacob and I who are fresh off a 6 hour+ round trip watching a spineless set of c*** let themselves down by not doing any single part of football right.

So, respectfully, shut up now. I've never really told anyone to not criticise Notts, because generally I'm the one doing it alongside them - I don't care about opinions, I call other managers and players shit and that but frankly I go along with what those that actually watch them think. No-one's even called Moniz a saviour or the perfect appointment.

You're not even remotely right. You just sound like the old c*** at the back of the stand talking about 'winning ugly' which is basically what we spent the entire season trying to do and failing to do. So, respectfully, stop being a smarmy dick.

The current bottom four will drop now.

Orient have a nightmare last 3 games and I cant see them picking up more than a point from Rochdale, Swindon and Sheff Utd.
Notts can't win for love nor money.
Colchester have left themselves with too much to do and again their run in is very tough.
Yeovil should have made their change earlier and maybe they'd have made a fight of it. Gives them some momentum for next year though.

No ones called Moniz shit and an awful manager either, just a logically sound observation that for the short term task at hand that there would have been better and more sensible appointments than Moniz.

Would really like both Notts and Orient to stay up. Have a feeling at least one of them will drop now though.

Jacob hit the nail on the head. The players are too old and too shite. Jose Mourinho couldn't keep this sack of shit up.

Nearly safe. I hope ourselves and Coventry don't both need something from our game. Yesterday was fraught enough thanks.

Not sure how it's a 'logically sound' observation tbh. County's squad is severely lacking in quality, even when they beat us back in Oct/Nov time and were in form, they were probably the worst team I'd seen during our three years in League 1. Obviously this is down to Derry, who's recruitment policy was odd to say the least (He took Billy Daniels off us for some bizarre reason).

I felt the appointment of Moniz was at the very least, thinking outside of the box (as opposed to appointing a Danny Wilson or Gary Johnson et al). You say that what Notts needed was a man to get a reaction, well I assume you haven't seen the video of a Moniz training session (
).

I've seen the video and not sure what relevance it has and yes they've thought outside the box with their appointment but is 6 matches to go in a relegation battle the right time to be thinking outside of the box? Not imo
