United building on last week by looking more fluid in possession and assertive in midfield tonight than they did against us.

Early days but they're much improved on last season.

They look like they know what to do when they've got the ball. Martial not been looking too good though.

That was just depressing. Wouldn't have minded if we lost playing well, but we gave De Gea nothing to do.

Going into further details, our squad was disappointing last season UNTIL Koeman used his tactics to get something from the team. Now we've changed styles and lost further players and look to have taken a few steps backwards because of it.

It's obviously annoying, because of where we were, what players we had and what players we've sold. Palace sell a player for £30m and now look to be getting a very capable Premier League striker for £30m. We sell four players for £30m and our record signing is still Osvaldo, who joined before everyone left.

Early impressions on Puel?

Early impressions on Puel?

Not great to be honest. He's not the most charismatic to say the least, so his personality isn't endearing for fans, which I guess some like. He's persisting with Redmond upfront and talking him up to be the next Thierry Henry, never going to happen. Sounds like an old Jan Poortvliet comparing Lee Holmes to Arjen Robben.

Also I'm not sure whether he's naive to our squad limits, or the cash isn't there. I really hope it's not the latter given the previously mentioned departures and TV deal this season. We're in the Europa League group stages and somehow our squad has ended up worse and smaller than what it was last season.

Don't think his style of play fits our team either.

Southampton got plenty they can work out, but it does baffle me that your most natural goalscorer is left on the bench....did I hear right when they said Austin hasn't scored for Southampton since his goal at Old Trafford last season? If so that's a shocking return.....unless he hasn't been playing decent minutes of course.

Man Utd looked too comfortable at times, even if the stats don't really agree with that, and possibly should have had more than just the two goals. It's very early days but Mourinho has definitely given the players a boost.

As for Pogba, looked good it patches, won't get away with so much fancy stuff against better sides (No disrespect to Soton) and should have done better with his couple of chances.

Overall not a bad match to watch on a Friday night whilst the mrs was playing boring games haha.

Really impressed by Man Utd.

The thing I think the team has to improve the most on is ball recovery. They are very slow in doing that. Also because Ibra, Rooney, and Mata don't push so much. BTW, it's only the 2nd game of the season - they're not at the top of their physical condition.

Still early days but it's much better than last year. some lovely one touch passing phases which were absent all last year.Fellaini has done better in the last 2 games than he did at any point last season and he's not elbowed anyone at all yet

Gave Leicester a goal in a high-profile game though...

Watched the game and thought United were obviously well worth their 3 points. Ibrahimovic is a monster, and people who saying he was past it before he joined United were talking absolute nonsense, and I say that as someone who has followed Liverpool for nigh on 25 years! He'll score 20 league goals this season easily. I thought Pogba played well despite looking a bit nervy and giving away possession cheaply at times. He's a unit and along with Ibrahmovic and Mkhitaryan will unfortunately make United into a genuine force again under Mourinho.

As for Southampton, I thought they looked quite toothless and will definitely miss Pelle.

United were deserved winners last night they hardly had to get out of 2nd gear, think they will be a force this season the squad they've assembled is impressive. Was sceptical as to whether Ibrahimovic would perform in the Premier League but he's been excellent so far, impressed with Bailly too he looks class. think Southampton will be okay but they need a goalscorer as you can't rely on Long, Tadic and Redmond to score consistently, surely got to give Austin more games.

I don't think he suites the system the manager wants to play. He's always drifting out wide when he plays and it's pointless having him out there.

Keep him in the box and give him service. He scores goals.

Imagine if Carrick had played, instead of silky skills and turns to open up space we would have seen 20 passes back to the keeper followed by a punt up to Zlatan, then he would raise his arms to complain about his lack of passing options.
