Typical half arsed shite from our fuckwits. Torquay battered us second half, okay they had something to play for but bloody hell everyone batters us at home. I really felt sorry for Torquay at the end. We're lucky to 'only' have just the 10 home defeats. I'm wondering if the end of season 'lap of honour' was put on by the club deliberately so that they got booed and humiliated before they slunk out of the door on June 30th. Nice final piece that to draw the curtain on what's been the most horrendous of seasons in the history of the club.

I set out to go to the match but stayed down Church Street instead and got pissed, turns out I missed fuck all from our set of useless c***, Bates will be out of a job come the end of the season, shame we can't bin off most of the chancers that have been stealing a wage this season.

Kids gave it a go for us today, naivety cost us at the back though, three absolute gifts. Ref was complete trash, certainly cocked up on two Maidstone goals which should have been ruled out.

Great for a 17 year old lad from the Lache to score in front of the Harry Mac, brilliant that.

I genuinely like Maidstone as a club, forward thinking from what I can see with good support. However I do fear for them next season. Poor and made heavy weather of beating a youth team who were probably up late last night revising for their exams, slide down the table reminds me of us a year ago.

He made some wrong and odd decisions for both sides I felt and was far too fussy, including a decision to award us a free kick in the first half which he gave after letting play continue for around 3 or 4 seconds, which he did in our previous game we had him as well.

I actually really, really like that. Bringing play back after an advantage is something egg chasing does so well, and I’d like to see it implemented with far greater regularity in football. I thought his biggest fault was being heavily swayed by the reaction of crowd/benches/players. Got conned by both sets of players far too easily.

Wrexham were absolute shite. Got played off the (bobbly) park by a bunch of children and Jobi McAnuff.

We have been shite since Keates left. We weren't great before but our defence kept us up there. We have totally bottled it and I would fancy any team in this league to beat us at present, including the clowns just over the border. Tough decisions need making and the next manager needs to be ruthless as well. It's not rocket science, if your midfield creates bugger all, and your strikers are as likely to score as a group of nuns, you are going to get found out, and ultimately end up mid table at best.

My mate Chris is a steward at macc and a macc supporter ( but wears a spurs hat!!!) He could hardly put a coherent WhatsApp reply together yesterday he was that thrilled .

Every time I've been to macc I've ended up in the supporters club for a pint with the macc supporters and players and they are a genuinely top crew ,easy to chat too and very welcoming... if we couldn't win it I'm more then happy it went to macc... last season after the trophy game I was leaving the club and had to excuse myself past browne and holroyd who were chatting at the top of the stairs ... both started tutting and jokingly shaking their heads at my rovers top... a genuinely warm and friendly club who I think if they keep askey will go up again next year.... WELL DONE MACC

I'd only keep the centre backs, Wedgbury and at a push Kelly, the rest are ultimately just not good enough. I think we would have definitely made the playoffs under Keates but we still wouldn't have won them.

I did question Wrexham fans on their ability to retain a playoff position months ago, it’s simply not possible when you can’t average more than a goal a game.

I don’t know if we were really poor yesterday or Solihull were really good. They’re certainly a lot better than their league position. 2 man mountains at the back and a few nippy lads up top. We’re on a bad run of form at the minute and are not playing well. If we have to beat Wrexham to make the playoffs we’ll fail. Hopelly ebbsfleet or Bromley will slip up Tuesday

Congratulations to Macclesfield on promotion. It's a superb achievement and we tried to do all we could to make it tough for them but they kept grinding out those results. All the best in the Football League next season and hopefully we're there to join you.

The playoff situation is extremely odd. Sutton went on a shocking run before winning away at Ebbsfleet who had been flying. Fylde got themselves in a superb position but a loss at Maidstone and a draw to Solihull has see them stutter. Boreham Wood hanging on in there just but not playing too well. Wrexham fallen out of it rapidly. Aldershot weren't good at Tranmere and have scraped past Gateshead and just drew with Barrow. Bromley were down and out but have fought their way into contention. Dover had lost 4 in 5 but somehow still there...

The only club going in to the playoffs with some sort of form is Tranmere who have won 6 on the trot and tbh I'd feel confident against any other team in the playoffs right now. I just don't understand how at this stage of the season team's are struggling to get any sort of momentum!

Congrats to Macc - the best side I’ve seen at the EBB this season and that week where they beat us then beat Tranmere in the space of 4 days was the turning point, and fair play to them for keeping it up until the end of the season.
As for us, disappointing yesterday and now means we need to win at Sutton for 3rd which won’t be easy. Still, it’s all irrelevant as Tranmere have the play offs sewn up already.

Danny Whitaker was always going to win promotion with his 900th game. Very tense game yesterday, nerves definitely impeded us at times but two nicely worked goals showing off that you can win this league playing football.

Personally hope Tranmere join us based on their league performance indicating they deserve it/not being the other end of the country/not being Fylde. They should cruise the playoffs based on form but anything can happen in 90 mins.

I think under keates we would have reached play offs but agree with md we would not have won them. In response to Fylde fan, you have beaten us twice when our form was good. .. if you could hand pick a side to play at present, it would be us. In response to huntsman, it comes down to bottle and character. When Keates left our players came out with all the right comments etc , but failed to deliver on pitch. At this stage it comes down to bottle.

Congratulations Macclesfield. Any team that wins a league deserves it... you were just more consistent over the season than us, and we got mullered at Prenton Park. Even more impressive as nobody saw it coming at the start of the season. Good luck in the Football League, hopefully we'll see you again next year.

Even with Keates though you weren't setting the world alight. When we drew 2-2 at your place (which was a great game) I expected a bit more from you. You got a lot of 1-0 wins and some decent draws. Think Keates leaving just meant those 1-0 wins went to draws and those draws went to losses!

You're right about the bottle though and that worries me for Tranmere in the playoffs. Against Macc we battered them in the first half at home and even managed to get it back to 1-1 but as soon as they went 2-1 up that was it. And if you want to win the playoffs not only have you got to be prepared for these situations, but you've got to deal with them better.

We’ll walk to playoffs this year*.

Congrats Macc on their consistency and not buckling under pressure from our incredible run of form the last 4 months.

As for Elliott Durrell and his video.. he’d wet himself if Mellon gave him a trial at Tranmere.

*Or 5,000 Tranmere fans will want to jump into the River Mersey holding a concrete block.

Congratulations Macclesfield.

Well done to Sutton yesterday, somebody had to win that god awful game. 4 points needed from 6, it's going to be a tough ask.

Another frustrating home game where we have 80% possession but don't trouble their keeper enough, then Barrow score from a free kick they shouldn't have been given. After that we were heading for another damaging home defeat before Bauress decided to unnecessarily leave his studs in Will Evans private area and was correctly sent off. One thing we are good at this season is stealing points with late goals, and thanks to Rendell we did it again.

We're not in good form by any means but somehow we're in a third place playoff with Sutton next week, although if we lose we can still finish 8th!

Whitaker is the player of the season in this league. Macc definitely the best team overall. Tranmere will reach the final but get reffed out of it against Borehamwood.

Still clinging on to the hope that Boring Wood will miss on the play offs all together despite the fact they face Guiseley on the final day

If the National League are thinking properly, they'll ref us into 3rd next Saturday, make sure its an Aldershot vs Tranmere final and ref Tranmere out of the final. That way they will appease the FL as two teams who have been there before will return, but they will keep the big boys in the NL for next season ;)

The great twist in this Macclesfield story is that they will be 15 minutes away from administration next month.

Interesting choice for Rovers in the next two games. Does Mellon pick the same side that has been in the form which has got us 2nd place to maintain momentum or rest key players trying to avoid injuries or sendings off?

I don’t think the play-offs are a done deal by any stretch of the imagination. Our nerve seems to go in such situations, but at least the manager has stockpiled a big enough squad to reduce the impact of any injuries.

Seriously though, you fucked with the server during game time? On a Saturday? Have a word with yourself. :dis:

No apology from DarkSithLord, unsurprisingly.
