Another blustery Saturday afternoon played a huge part in our game against Chester. Although Chester had that advantage in the first half they didn't really seize the opportunity and make use of the blustery conditions. I think in the second half we played the conditions to our strengths and probably just edged the game and ran out worthy winners.

It was a decent performance from the lads on a shite pitch! I'll be glad to see the back of this fuckin rugby ground, can't stand the place.

Tricky game with the wind today. Scrappy goal to win but we got the win. Biggest away following we've taken in years. Small gap now to Fylde Brackley and Gateshead winning makes a win Tuesday vital

A successful season gets the fans back on board and a good feeling at the club! Everybody's Buzzin!

You guys and your 1-0's! We've got a huge March where we play Gateshead, Brackley, Chorley, Fylde, Spenny and Curzon I think. If we're still up there with you two at the end of that I think we'll have a great chance.
Someone told me you'd made around £1.7m from the cup run. Surely you must be very confident if this year doesn't work out, then next year...?

Not quite true. That's estimated around the whole town and club. It's estimated the club made around £500K. Our owner has said there is much needed work to do around the ground as well.

No game at weekend for Curzon but not too bad a set of results, they used free weekend to good effect and had a friendly to get some players fit and look at some trialists.

Massive game next though I think we must go to Southport and win, we really need to try and drag Chorley and Southport back into it, very hard to compete for just 7th we are not solid enough to keep up with stronger or full time sides like Boston, Hereford and York. Think us and Kettering will just have to keep plugging along and hoping

If we could drag a Chorley or Southport back into frame it may lead to more openings, defeat I think pits Southport out of reach and leaves us battling for 2 places with some much stronger teams.

Southport have been excellent for months so hard ask, time to go away and just go for it, nothing to lose.

We have been down to the bare bones for a few weeks now and still no sign of strengthening the squad, on top of that we are apparently " potless" so cant see us staying the pace at all. Even our usually reliable back line are conceding at will now. Not good, cant see where the next win is coming from.

Well Alfreton are on a very dangerous slide at the moment.

Poor training, poor tatics. Its looking rather bleak. Saturday at Kiddy will be another heavy defeat.

Big games coming up against Gloucester and Curzon

Not boring, and not 0-0. Tight, tense battle, with Brackley edging it. You guys and Gateshead still to come to SJP, huge games ahead.

Yeah my mate went and said he thought brackley edged it. Well done. You were a good side last time we were in this division. God I hate the playoffs

How was he for your lot during his spell?

Last Saturday was the first time I've got to see him in the flesh, honestly looked rather poor to me but he's done better going off highlights of other games I've seen

Big big win tonight. Red card killed Hereford but they couldn't have any complaints about it Pearce had plenty of time to clear it but he allowed Morgan-Smith to nip in and steal it off him before hauling him down.

Sam Austin with an absolute wonder goal and then 2 quick fire goals from Morgan-Smith. 6 straight clean sheets in the league, 2nd feweedt conceded and 2 most scored with the best goal difference in the division.

The atmosphere around the club is the best I can remember with a brilliant attendance of 3912 (686) on a Tuesday night.

"FOOTBALL FORUMS . NET with no spaces is the place for anyone looking to pop over, it won’t let you post an actual link on here as Tractor Boys changed it so it just changes back to the 1ff link."

Any NLN posters if you want to migrate type in the address above.

Seems this place is dead

Well, sorry for delay but forum would not let me reply. He is nowhere near your first team standard but has improved whilst with Chorley, he is very raw just as likely to trip over the ball as he is to beat three men and get his shot away. His overall game is improving, he works harder without the ball and carries out more defensive duties. Hopefully we will start him regularly as he clearly needs game time but time will tell.

For any York fans what’s the feeling on John Askey so far? Seems like he has steadied the ship a little bit there. Seems like a similar trajectory to what he had at Vale when he first took our job.

Hopefully he’s learned to be a little more flexible tactically which was a big problem at Vale especially his phobia of using the subs bench.

Very late reply. Listened in on Tuesday. Southport dominated and should have won by a few goals but missed good chances to win it and we may have nicked it at the death, undeserved for us but I’d say just some balance from Boxing Day when we dominated game, should have won by afew and only drew…….fair balance for both sides from both games.

Not enough in my view, our camp happy but think we are drifting out of it, far too ma y times happy to sit for draws than go for wins.

You don’t go up by not gambling we are too happy to ‘hope’ we may scrape in 7th spot than try for it and I do t know why because of all the top 12 sides we are the club you could say has achieved it’s season goal already and has little to lose.

Play for draws you get a point, others around grab 3 and open two points gaps it goes on and on and suddenly your 10 points behind, we’ve done this since the change in manager.

Got the fans back on side, playing a lot better football plus actually won 4 games in row.
He hardly ever makes subs though blaming lack of quality in squad.
Def a lot fitter under Askey and scoring a lot more.
Definitely happy with him, plus chairman is speaking and backing him unlike under Watson.

See we have announced the signing of Jack Sampson, what a donkey, good bit of business by Fylde getting shut of him. Another big lump who doesnt score, what a waste of a wage!

Wishing Matt Preston a swift and healthy recovery.

As for the lad who tackled him, and the ref who delayed treatment, hang your heads in shame. Don't expect nothing different from a Billy Heath side being over assertive with how they approach games.

Dom Smith is not a dirty player. Now I wasnt there myself today but from what I have heard it was a freak accident following a block challenge. Dom doesnt have a nasty streak in him.
Wishing Matty a speedy and successful recovery. Never nice to hear that.

I was in the East stand. He may not have meant intent but it was a reckless tackle and it was with force. Really unnecessary too.
The way he smirked as he walked away from the challenge summed him up. It also gave some of your players the chance to moan about your penalty shout.

I don't think I'd be even be attempting to defend the club. The whole ordeal is just sad.

I don't think any fan thinks the challenge was intential. I don't think any player would go out onto the pitch to injure another... But if fans could hear the snap then Smith definitely would've and to jog off giving his team mates little high fives with a smirk on his face isn't a good look. He's blocked the ball as Preston goes to clear it but he's also wiped out his standing foot. It's reckless, dangerous and unnecessary.

The ref didn't come out of it looking good either, very slow to react with Harriers and Alfreton fans and players the having to call on the physio and medical team. Players should have gone down the tunnel into the changing rooms as well but they just stayed on the pitch for about 10 minutes.

City 2 Darlo 2. Fair result really in the end, wind awful first half especially. Both sides depleted during the game due to injury, we brought on Jack Hill who is just 16 but the lad looks a great talent. Superb strike by McClure for our opener, I'd say both Darlo goals were a bit cheap from our perspective though. Gotta be doing better but with 4 defenders missing can't be too critical.

Think attendance was 963, 60 - 70 ish from the North East maybe which was great to see with the weather conditions.

More than anything today has been an eye opening experience as to how the Salford/Bury mafia linger and hold grudges. Unsavoury night on Chester twitter.

Pray we don't lose to them on Tuesday.

Whatever happens I would much rather watch the youngsters who have come into the team now than the group who have moved on since B&J left.

Yeah, they look gook, the only downside is in the short term a bit of inexperience and naivety will cost us like yesterday, so results will still be a bit hit and miss.

I'm just amazed by these B&J mates and hangers on. They'll get bored eventually and then go after Spennymoor's fans when it's mission complete up there.
