Surely we won't start Whittle at cb. He's done a job there but would be targeted. Left beck for me with Miller at rb. Then we can play 3 cbs at cb...
Really don't like seeing a left back at right back (or LWB at RWB). Something not right about it. I'd have Whittle LCB and Williams RWB, I think Whittle is fine there.

Depends whether you give them space to happily knock the ball about or not.
Yep we'll happily oblige with that.
I don't like these posts about Notts not scoring many in games and being poorer against the crapper sides of this division. All points to another 1-0 where we don't have a shot at goal until the 85th minute.

770 away tickets sold so far, if only our team were anywhere near as good as our away followings

You're welcome to arrive in Cleethorpes whenever you like. Absolute nonsense from the police that they think they can tell football supporters when they're allowed to turn up in another town. You should expect them to have both Grimsby Town and Cleethorpes stations surrounded though, so come armed with your best non football related excuse for visiting if you want to avoid being herded by them into a crap pub for 3 hours before being escorted to the ground.
It sounds like everyone is geared up to treat us like absolute shit tomorrow. Don't come here, don't drink there, do this, don't that.

All I want is a beer and maybe some fish and chips to line the stomach.

We were very attacking at the end of last season and start of this, but we’ve been much more pragmatic since blowing a 2-0 lead at ten-man Halifax while trying to keep scoring. Since then we’ve been scoring less but a lot more solid and tend to just try and keep the ball when we’re ahead. Our average possession is miles ahead of anyone else in the division.

Do you have a competent midfield?
I know Jacob has answered, but I’d say ish.

So far this season we’ve lacked intensity against teams nearer the bottom, which means they’ve always been in games, pretty much regardless how terrible they’ve been(Barnet excepted)

I saw you play Grimsby and you looked decent enough, except being a bit toothless up front, though obviously Murphy is a decent striker at this level when he stops moaning.

Certainly decent enough to make me think it’ll be a tight game tomorrow.

Cant see us getting anything of Stockport tomorrow. Yes we did play well and won last week but was Weymouth, so may play better at home for a change.

Got my ticket for this one, would never miss Grimsby away. Last time I was there, that game all but confirmed our relegation from the football league for the first time in our history… I think we’re due a bit revenge for that day!

In terms of the squad, I think Croll is doubtful after he hobbled off against Salford and with Williams returning to the squad from being cup tied, I think JR may choose to leave him out as a precaution regardless of whether he’s recovered well. I also think Danny Rowe may make his long anticipated return to the squad this weekend, as this was the game JR earmarked for his return a few weeks back. He definitely won’t start, probably 15/20 mins at most, but will be great to have him back. Jack Clarke is also back now after returning against Salford, so that’s another big boost for the bench! He’s got a job on dislodging Kellerman from that XI as he’s been outstanding..

All things above considered, my XI would be:

Loach
Williams - Grimes - Whittle
Mandeville - Weston - Oyeleke - Miller
Kellerman - Khan
Tshimanga

Subs:
Kerr
McCourt
Clarke
Payne
Rowe

I’ve seen Grimsby have apparently got a few regulars missing for this one? Any Grimsby fans on here able to tell us which players they are?
John McAtee - Suspended following straight red vs Daggers
Alex Hunt - Suspended following 5th yellow of the season vs Daggers
Adam Crookes - Hamstring, doubtful but you never know with a Hurst pre-match. If he's fit he's absolutely essential and he has done bits in training
Giles Coke - Ankle, again doubtful. Hurst said it'll be a "big ask" for him to be fit but with Hunt definitely out he's another one we could really do with
Erico Sousa, Dead leg, apparently he got a dead leg in training the week before and then got ill then he's got another dead leg on Tuesday this week in training in exactly the same spot. Has done bits in training but said he's still not fully ready to Hurst when he's asked him
Ryan Sears - Not seen him since his driving ban story broke in the media but again another one who we need back
Max Wright, Sean Scannell, Joel Grant - Won't feature because there'll be a ball on the pitch and if they come within a ten yard radius of one of those then they're out for another three to four weeks

So yeah, plenty definitely/potentially missing. Those first six listed above are all solid shouts for the starting XI week in week out so we're a bit screwed. Left back is a huge problem as we only have Revan on loan from Villa who can play there and Hurst doesn't seem to trust him. If Coke is out then we'll see Evan Khouri in the matchday squad at the very least, but probably more likely starting. Sam Bell will start I'd imagine after impressing in first two appearances and is quite a good like for like replacement for McAtee in that he looks to get on the ball and brings a lot of energy.

Harry Lennon is missing tomorrow I would assume as he's picked up 5 yellows so far this season. He's probably been our best defender this season but Tyler French is a decent like for like replacement.

No excuses tomorrow really, we need to not just win, we need to batter them. We have no confidence at home at all.

Miller at RWB looked absolute dog dirt so it’s LWB or bench for him IMO, and Whittle was exceptional at LCB against both Dagenham and Solihull so why would you be worried about that??

Also Mandeville at RWB doesn’t sound or look great on paper, but I’ve seen him play there twice now and he’s played pretty well both times offering a lot going forward, and defensively he’s not exactly been exposed. Having said that, I wouldn’t be against Williams playing RWB and Kerr being at RCB.

Very strange, our game against Bournemouth has been moved to 5.30pm on the Saturday even though it's not on tv. We get £32500 because it's been moved but no reason given as yet.
Might be extended highlights. Our game last week was moved for that reason.

Shots at Eastleigh. Will be a happy bunny if we get anything from the Silverlake, always a dour game there. Not confident, despite our recent form. 2-0 Eastleigh.

Edit - Leant on my phone and it posted some random letters, there’s my preview of the weekend’s games.
(s)hite
(h)ome win
(d)raw
(h)ome win
(f)air play draw.

I guess cryptically you mean, Bromley Eastleigh Kings Lynn to win
Grimsby - Chessie draw high scoring
Maidenhead - Solihull 0-0

Not bad bets to be fair!!

Are Wealdstone the new team to dish out regular Devonshirings?
You need to make up an adjective for your manager and get it in the public consciousness.
Nobody knows who the Raiders manager is though.

But yeah I get the point, they Devonshired us in their own way a few weeks back.

In Shaymen folklore, you're now twinned for all time with Garforth Town when the talk turns to #GreatShaymenComebBacks. :bdick:

2 easy-peasey games today and Tuesday that allow us to pick up points while still having games in hand. Which means we're unlikely to win either, because we're The Shaymen and we don't do easy wins unless we're on the wrong end of them. :ds:

Mate who supports Chesterfield is in hospital after being attacked by 10 Grimsby fans with pool cues and bricks. He is thankfully ok but he has a fractured elbow. Its apparently proper kicking off on the pier

The fish fuckers kicked off last time they came to Halifax, the town centre was a war zone. That GTFCfish fucker guy is a right psycho.

Was told an hour ago it’s kicking off in Top Town, probably more entertaining than the match.

At least Humberside Police will be happy today after we pissed them off so much by not kicking off.

Been to Grimsby a few times and it always seems on the edge of kicking off, Port Vale is the only other ground where it feels similar, proper 80s mentality.
