Thought I'd bang this in here as its today!
Sheridan up against his former club and Newport's form is certainly on the up.
Notts are rubbish at home, Newport rubbish away. Notts have scored 9 at home Newport 7 away.

Always liked Westley as a manager but think Sheridan is better suited to Notts (if anyone could be).

It has 0-0 written all over it so watch it be 4-4!

This fixture was ridiculous last year, we were 2-0 up in no time at all and should have been out of sight by half-time, ended up 4-3 Notts!

With the right results we could actually be out of the bottom two this evening, that will be a big ask though.

I actually think there will be a few goals again today but beyond that I'm finding it hard to call this one.

Half the team were out ill which presumably didn't help, but fucking hell that was bad.

Our defence is being shown up for what it is now that Stead isn't around to score the goals to paper over things. Richard Duffy is an absolute train wreck of a footballer and fuck knows what Motherwell have done to Laing but he's a different player to the one who looked so composed a couple of years ago.

Not surprised by Laing being shite - he's the most dramatically overrated player I've seen in a Notts shirt after that first stint - read the game well but lost nearly everything in the air and had poorer distribution than Hollis. He played alongside Hollis and looked an inferior player, although Hollis regressed after that (not a surprise when every time the ball goes near him you can hear a thousand knives being sharpened).

Only contact this season with Notts has been reading these threads and the occasional skim through twitter - just appears to be a carbon copy of Derry's second season. Bunch of experienced lower league pros on their way out who can't really hack it anymore. I mean, who saw Duffy and Dickinson being crap - what's the ceiling/upside to signings like that? Stop hiring managers and letting them repeat the same fucking mistakes.

Attendances continue to be appalling and are starting to suggest that base of hardcores who were there during the Gudjon/Mills/Thompson era (so in theory should be able to stomach anything), have had enough - one of them is typing this very post. The club's not even rotten enough to evoke emotion like an Orient - it's just a sad, sorry corpse that's been slowly driven into irrelevance.

Wezzer was banging on in the local press about being up with the playoff chasing group by Christmas to general astonishment and mirth. You cannot help but like the brass balls of the man. Win our game in hand on Tuesday and we will be moving well clear of the bottom although to be fair I haven't been looking any further than the bottom three. A quick look further up the table and it's bonkers ... so few points separating so few teams and lots of teams with very poor goal differences.

With the way he has us playing with, basically the same squad Feaney put together, you have to wonder what Feaney was up to and how good Wezzer is at this level. He makes it all look really easy.

The key for us will be January and whether he will bring anyone in and whether or not we will keep hold of Healey (on loan from Cardiff) and Sheehan (on loan from Swanseas). Sheehan in particular is superb.

Just a honey moon period for Westley right now, natural order will soon be restored.

Yeah but by the time that happens they'll have a nice cushion.

He'll do his usual thing, get bunch of underperforming

Westley does well when he has to beg steal or borrow as many points as he can with what he has at his disposal, the problems arrive when he has his first summer in charge and sets about building his (and nobody else's) ideal squad. Although he'll have to do it without Darius Charles.

Westley is like Evans (though nowhere near as good!) in the fact that he'll get them to where he wants them by hook or by crook - I remember him and Stevenage in the conference - horrible manager and the players all played and acted up, but they went on a good run and won the league.

Whereas I don't see Newport doing that, they won't struggle under him.

Was a rather amusing result though

Newport looked world beaters.
We as a club have lost the plot and reached such a low ebb that going down wouldn't only not be a surprise, it would barely be lamented by our own dwindling fan base. This is a culmination of five years of struggle, playing at the wrong end of the table every season from October onwards.
Trew has to go , until we get a chairman and board with the ability to make good decisions and stick with a plan I can only see us going one way.
