With less than 2 days to the first games, can't wait any longer for the witty opening preview hinted at by Luke Imp, so have started this.

Good choice of season opener by BT, which will see promoted Maidstone against relegated York and a draw the most likely outcome. Interesting games at Boreham Wood, who have strengthened well and will be a good test for moneybags Forest Green and Dagenham, who won't find Southport a pushover.

Rovers start at Bromley, who don't seem to have done much recruiting. I'd expect a win, but whether it's a significant improvement on last season is going to be an indication of things to come.

I actually think there's a bit of value in Southport at 4/1 on Saturday. We don't tend to win the opening game very often and I think we may have a slow start this season.

Aldershot at home 1st up and time to see how good they are in the air.... for a team of giants we actually play the ball about quite well on the ground too... Unless the Aldershot right back is very quick he'll be roasted by Jordan Williams and probably booked within the first 20-25 mins. Am expecting a 3-1 win - goals from Hannah, Moussa Diarra and Jordan Williams - crowd somewhere around 2,000

I predicted a score draw a day or two ago, not changing from that either as lots of teams draw on the first day. Given that we have a horrendous record against the Cards a point would be decent. There will be one or two quite happy that Power may not be playing, he still has a knock from the Crewe game. We usually do well early on in the season then capitulate a few months in, the Cowleys usually do it the opposite way round and finish strongly so am not expecting us to be all guns blazing too soon.

I agree. Everyone is expecting us to win and we even have our own fans saying they'll be concerned if we don't.

It's the unknown for us and our home form has been awful for a while. I'd take a draw if offered right now but I can see a shock on the cards.

Haha. Yeah. We begin at Edgeley Park against Stockport. Never even scored a goal there before in 4 previous visits drawing 2 and losing the other 2. Absolutely no idea what to expect. Our chairman did finally announce on Twitter though that we are to announce another 2 signings before the game.
