Horror tackle should be playing ten men.

I wouldn't be surprised, Barry is a bloody idiot. Rightly or wrongly though, ref is unlikely to send a player off 2 minutes into an important relegation scrap game

Well deserved lead overall. Most of the play has come from Vale. Chesterfield had their moments on the break.

And yeah Tyrone, how the fuck did you miss that ffs?

Don’t make it easy. Should be out of sight then a stupid red card from Pugh. Can rightly question it after Hannant was elbowed and a yellow was shown. Barnett off for Kay... use wings to Pope alone. Their number 22 and left back has been murdered by Wozza so hopefully we target that.

Chesterfield equalise from a hilarious decision to give a free kick for an air kick by their lad.

Missed Chesterfields goal as decided have an extra beer at half time so as far as I’m concerned we are still in the lead. That’s how it works right?

Get the Fuck In! Whitfield can have my wife!!! Great win and well deserved. Seemed to have everything going against us but got the winner we’ve craved for months! Win Monday and playing like that we will, job will be done!

Have no idea how and don’t give a fuck but am glad we won that. One more win and I think we will be good. Best of luck to Chesterfield so long as it’s not at our expense.

Disappointing result today, we completely lost our discipline in the second half, throwing men forward including our holding midfielder weir, made absolutely no sense! I can remember two occasions where a vale player just ran straight through us from deep and had a chance at goal because of our lack of shape, including the winner!

Our saving grace is the 2 games in hand and the fact we have to play both grimsby and forest green!

Credit to vale though, held on in second half and still looked threatening on the break with 10 men, helped by the fact we were so wasteful with the ball

Must admit I was a big fan of worrall today! Looked superb, not many players give drew Talbot the type of problems he did! As for us, stand outs were probably Hines and Reed, we didn't get Kellet involved as much as we should have!

Probably one of the worst displays of refereeing I’ve ever seen in my entire life.

Firstly, he should’ve sent their lad off in the first 30 seconds for a wrestling manoevure which I thought had knocked Luke Hannant out. Totally bottled it because it was so early in the game. Then, he sends Danny Pugh off for, admittedly, an over the top challenge which was a yellow card at most; their lads made a meal out of it and was up on his feet 10 seconds after. Their players were straight to the ref although they didn’t need to be because the ref has already made up his mind without thinking through the decision.

Gave a free kick because their player kicked the floor and fell over; Chesterfield subsequently score from the free kick. The ref then preceded to lose total control of the game. Gave us a free kick in the corner but ended up booking 2 of our players, 2 of theirs and nobody (even the players) had any idea what was going on. Also, not sure where he got 6 minutes of injury time from it was 4 minutes absolute maximum.

In terms of the match we were by far and away the better side even when playing with 10 men. First half we could have been 2 or 3 up, second half playing against 11 and the ref was just as good and we got forward and constantly hit them on the counter as they committed men forward to try and get the win.

Chesterfield look like a side that have given up and have accepted their fate; worst side I’ve seen all season.

Massive praise to Montano. The guy has been an absolute revelation at left back and should have been man of the match today.

Louis Reed looks a real talented player.

This was a nice result for us that we didn’t take advantage of.

Worrall of late is starting to show the Championship level player he is (only at Vale as he was homesick!) skinned their left back (who looked recent last week on Tele) and was like a man possessed.

Montano... we all kind of looked bemused a few weeks ago when he was thrown into left back as we had no one available... gone from struggling winger to exceptional left back and has been class for a few weeks there now. Nearly set up a wonder goal waltzing through most of their team second half.

Chesterfield have some pace and decent in possession but looked really poor without the ball. Seemed very open away from home even when against ten men. The little midfielder (25 I think) looked a real talent though.

Whitfield came on and was like Whitfield of old, great finish and probably the most crucial goal in our recent history.

Referee was dire. The free kick summed up everything and you knew they’d score it after Dennis I think it was completely air kicked and fell over! Thought Pugh was a red to be honest but lack of consistency with their challenge... worryingly he is a Championship referee apparently!

Huge win. Beat the Alex Monday and Grimsby fail to win we’re likely done.

Sounds like Chesterfield had a big chance after a big result on the tv. Sounds familiar

Massive credit to Aspin today, too. I’ve been critical of late but to see him not just wanting to sit back and play for the 1-0 was decent. His post match interview was one of his best yet and you could hear the sense of relief in his voice. Sounds like him and Ben Whitfield haven’t fallen out but Ben has been told by Aspins management team that he can do better and that he needs to work harder. Whatever they’ve said has worked because he’s been playing much better..

What was your view on it then as you obviously saw it?

Crewe's lawyer has been in touch, he's given the following response:
"there has been a full review which has found no evidence (apart from all the evidence that exists) that anything untoward happened"

I expected Barnett for Kay at half time so was surprised we stuck with two strikers on then threw Whitfield on and essentially didn’t make any negative changes.

Listen to him the listen to Artell five minutes later and it’s like chalk and cheese. Aspin is honest, measured and doesn’t really make any excuses. Very down to earth.

And you've got Jack Lester coming out with comments like this:

"Technically today we weren’t anywhere near where we were last week, in terms of the control, the movement, it wasn’t as sharp, but we still did enough to win the game."

Thank god for Aspin.

He moaned the referee didn’t give them enough either!

I thought it was a very entertaining (and nerve-wracking) game.
The referee was pretty poor , although i’ve no complaints about the red for the hapless Pugh ( goal scorer or not he’s terrible)
Chesterfield sursprised me, plenty of fans on here have said that they play decent football, and are full of fight, I thought they were very poor, they had a noisy bunch of fans behind them and created very little.
Hines looked tricky, and the midfielder reed looked good, aside from that there was nowt.
The sending off, galvanised us, we created some decent chances second half, and Whitfield took his goal superbly.
I have no beef with chesterfield, and feel for their fans, but on that showing they’re down.

Who's said we're full of fight? It's a lack of bollocks that's got us where we are.
