Rooney wasn't in the goalie's line of sight so unfortunately the goal had to be given.

Arsenal will crush this lot even if it is at Old Trafford.

Wenger has got a mental block when it comes to United. I'd rather play Arsenal at OT than anyone else left in the draw. They are a top side, obviously, but they seem to fall to bits when they play us.

I'm not sure Preston fans will thank for you presuming we are going through either, it's hardly certain based on the first 70 minutes of this is it!?

Keown chatting shit: http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/laws/football-11-11/law-11---offside.aspx

A player in an offside position is only penalised if, at the moment the ball touches or is played by one of his team, he is, in the opinion of the referee, involved in active play by:

  • interfering with play or
  • interfering with an opponent or
  • gaining an advantage by being in that position

Whether it touches a player or not is irrelevant. Bullshit performance from Man Utd bailed out by a poor refereeing decision.

I reckon that's offside, the keeper is expecting/waiting for Rooney to touch it.

Davies should be off anyway.

You guys will have to up your game a lot to compete with Arsenal though just now. You are nowhere near that level currently.

But you basically have to keep it at 1-1 for 20 minutes to get a replay at Old Trafford where you will be much, much more likely to win. In these games it's fair to assume that if the bigger team gets the draw away from home, they'll win the tie at home. There are exceptions of course, but they're few and far between.

Edit: Or, well, that. That works too.

I shouldn't follow this thread. Watching the match on BBC1 on my work laptop puts me half a minute behind the actual time of the match!

We've lost and drawn plenty of games over the last season and a half that we should be winning quite easily with the players at our disposal. Don't take anything for granted.

Bolton scored a goal bit like Rooney's against us on Saturday.

Trouble was then our defence stopped as the lino put his flag up meaning they could go on to score..

Remember West Ham had a goal ruled out because players were "interfering" against Arsenal over Christmas.

Ashley Young makes United look a far better team than Falcao. Whoda thunk it?

Looked like a foul, but you can see he moves his leg out the way then dives over after, good dive Rooney.

Decent dive. No idea what the keeper is doing. Terrible from him. Decent penalty.

Are United likely to carry on with Rooney upfront now?

If United play this side that's on the pitch now they'll cause more teams more problems, much more pace and tempo about them. LVG won't like that though.
