I think if this were any other point of the season we would be saying 5 or 6 from the next 3 games would be a great return, as it is we have to take 9 points to be in with a shout of autos. To be fair that kind of "pressure" can really focus the mind, Leyton Orient is now looking massive for us.

I can't believe there is not much discussion of the thrilling fight for the play off places.

It looks like a three-way contest between ourselves, Sutton and Mansfield for two of the spots, although Salford, Newport and Swindon are still theoretically involved.

Sutton's toughest remaining game is probably their next one, away to Barrow. Mansfield's game in hand is at home to Stevenage which looks an easy fixture on paper, albeit Stevenage might still need points for safety if we beat them on Saturday. Their final two fixtures, away to Salford and home to FGR, look tough on paper, but both of those sides might have nothing to play for by the time the matches come round.

Of our three remaining matches, two are away from home, with the final day fixture at Orient looking tricky given the O's recent form under Wellens. We have not won an away game since January, so that obviously has to change if we are to remain in the top seven.

Our final home game against Oldham could be tasty for more than one reason, as has been commented elsewhere.

We will definetely finish in the top 7 ,i still haven,t ruled out automatics though we can still get 81 points if we get oates back we are in with a real chance,if not we will still make the play offs

as you were one of the better teams we played (at home) we'll try and rob Sutton, Exeter, Swindon and Northampton of some points

It would be some turn in form for Mansfield to get top 3. You’d need 4 teams to slip up in order for that to happen, assuming you won every game

I forgot that Barrow are on a charge under Phil Brown and that isn’t the easy game I was originally expecting. They’re going to have a huge say in the promotion race - their final 8 games being:

Vale (L), Crawley (L), FGR (w), Salford (d), Sutton, Exeter, Swindon & Northampton!! Mental really.

Stevenage under Evans will be no rollover. Their final 4 games are Tranmere, Mansfield, Carlisle & Salford.

Big games everywhere

I'd be amazed if the last automatic promotion spot required more than 81 points. If anyone gets to 82 from here then fair play to them. 2 of the last 3 seasons it has been below that and the other one was worked out on a points per game.

If we beat Walsall on Saturday (and it's a big if), we then have 9 days to prepare for Newport. Get some players back and get a bit of rest in. Win the next 2 and I think it's pretty much job done. Teams around us will drop points, some will lose out of the blue against a team they expect to beat. Still so many twists and turns.

3 at home is in our favour and without sounding cocky they are all teams that might let us play a bit of football ,unlike sutton who were in our faces everywhere ,we couldn,t cope with them ,salford away could be out of it by then there are a few tasty games amongst the others ,everyone thinks were out of it i dont

It's all aligning for us to face each other in the play offs with Barton's comments about you ringing in your ears, a bit like when our PA guy spurred you into beating us last time.

Even if you were to win all your remaining games (unlikely), then you're still relying on too many teams above you to mess up. You've also hit a bad patch at the wrong time. I'm as optimistic as they come but if I were a Mansfield fan I'd be looking at the playoffs.

Crawley are a bit of an enigma, can be either really good or utterly abysmal. Also would say Stevenage under Evans are hardly going to allow you to play football. They'll resort to every dirty trick in the book to slow the game down and be constantly in the refs ear. I'd say although there is a small chance of you getting auto's still the last two games realistically have made it most likely the playoffs.

Crawley are a funny one, we’ve battered them twice but currently are the form team over the last 6. We have a hoodoo over them but read they’ve scored in so many away games on the spin.

As said they are the enigma as they seem either very good or very bad form wise and seem to slip between the two and have for a few seasons now.

Mansfield have probably blown autos but you never know, issue is too many teams above them now in form.

Shows how quickly it can change as up until Friday Mansfield we’re the ones I thought would be the threat to us and was most bothered about.

How many of those below you ,or above us can realisticaly can get more points than you ,we can ,might be a long shot but i think 3 home wins for us and a sneaky away win at salford are well within our capabilities especially if we get oates back

Spanish is chatting rubbish, no chance we're getting automatics.

Regarding the top 7, its going to be tight but I feel we'll just miss out.

Win your game in hand and you'll only be 1 point behind us and Northampton, and most believe we are nailed on for a play off place

I would take that, certainly sets it up nicely for giving us to have something to prove and give the game a bit of an edge. Rovers v Cobblers final would get a very decent crowd as well, although it is only in the last couple of weeks our wider fanbase really seems to be getting bothered about our prospects.

Ive already said we will be in the top 7 ,im still optimistic about our chances ifyou dont agree just say so like all the miserable other buggers ,but tell me why we cant win our 3 home games ,oates will probably be playing listening to cloughie and lets be honest our home form is brilliant despite the sutton hiccup ,and we are certainly capable of grabbing a win away at salford ,but just to come on here and trot out that spanish is talking rubbish bullshit makes you sound like one of the other smug stags fans on here ,i wont hold my breath

Exeter will be up by then (and they’re not winning the title now).
We are winning the title. It's not even in dispute. FGR will be lucky for 3 more points, we're getting 12. But we'll seal the title when we play Northampton as that'll put as 4 points ahead of FGR so our Vale game will be irrelevant which I think is your point anyway.
No of course not, this team is capable of winning all three and putting runs like that together regularly under DC, 7 points likely is enough and that required Cobblers to go to Orient and beat Exeter and Rovers to win all 3.
There's zero chance you'll beat us, so not sure how you can win all 3.

Good to see you remembered your logon details now after Saturday. Wonder what happened there…

FGR will have it won by the penultimate week.

Ask the admins that took issue with one of my posts.

FGR are winning nothing other than second place.

P.S it was Monday, not Saturday
