Two fairly evenly matched sides I reckon. Could go either way but i'll feel confident saying a draw where we take the lead early, miss a couple of chances and then our two centrebacks tackle each other whilst at the same time our left back takes out our keeper, to ensure that Preston get a late equaliser.

And we'll all moan that the three months of glorious no football this Summer has ended.

You sound optimistic for the season ahead.

Going to be optimistic. 2-1 home win. Surely we can't play as bad as we did in this fixture back in April.

Would be happy with 5 or 6 points from the first month of the season given the tough start we have.

This fixture is so wank that we might as well have just used the thread from last season.

Not too fussed about the game, hopefully it's a fitting occasion for Eamonn Dolan. The club should be credited for the way they have handled this. Eamonn deserves a lot of respect on Saturday.

Anton Ferdinand can't leave us it seems..... he'll be at the Madejski today with the Preston squad.

Just on the train up to Reading, it's a lovely day outside, have a good one all.

Today is all about honouring Eamonn Dolan. Official renaming of the Stand today with tributes starting in the stadium from 1:30pm. Both teams will be wearing black armbands.

This is a long train journey back if we lose. And currently the guy behind me on the train stinks

First game of the season and we had fans storming the home end. What a club and what a season.

First half we were utterly dominant, 81% possession and should have been 3-0 up. Second half a lot more even, but generally we were pretty safe.

Definitely far more positive than I was at the beginning of the day, though i'm not sure how much was us being good or Preston being bad.

All of the new players played well. Beerens, Harriott and van den Berg all looked comfortable, with Swift getting another goal.

Thought we played very well apart from a 10 minute spell at the start of the second half. Should have been more comfortable than it was. Van Der Berg at the back was excellent and Beerens, McCleary on the wings looked a constant threat. Tennai Watson did fine and Callum Harriot looked like a very good winger. Still think we need to bring one more striker in though.

lol at the 2 Preston fans who walked behind the scoreboard into our end and then just sat there. Propa naughty.

Yea not sure why Charlton fans didn't think Harriott was up for this level, only a short cameo but he looked very decent. Was beating his full back quite easily.

Sounds like I've not missed much this season. Need to sign a fucking right back.

Traffic was shit. Game was shit. Reading played well and should have had 5 or 6 probably. Grimshaw was completely torn apart first half. Swift impressed me again as he did for Brentford last season and mcleary and the number 7 (?) ran us ragged. We need to sign a right back and massively improve our creativity because we never looked like scoring.

How did that Kaleks miss that chance?!
Rakels..

Not sure, missed a couple of good chances. Strange because last season he was our only striker who was half decent at finishing. Can't think of any sitters he missed like yesterday.

Yeah, him.

2nd half, 6 yards out, put it straight at Lindegaard.

Swift and Beerens seem like good acquisitions - though perhaps a bit early to jump to conclusions. Rakels really should have scored two, on another day he might have done, just lacked that composure yesterday.

Fitting tribute to Eamonn Dolan as well. Nice to see his son lead out the teams and the Preston fans were a class act in joining in the commemorations.

As I said in the transfer thread, he's frustratingly inconsistent.

He'll probably be woeful in your next game.

It's only that he's a good L1 player that I'm disappointed he left, wouldn't have cared less if it was under different circumstances. Nothing personal, I wish him well and hope he does improve as a player, he's only 22 aswell so plenty of time to do so.

8 years since we've won on the opening day.

Listened to this one and we sounded utter wank, Grayson got it completely wrong in the first half and was probably taken by surprise by Reading who seem like a completely different prospect to last season with their new additions.
