Aka the "No Hurst in the dugout" effect.

Go on boys freely express yourself now no longer constrained by Hurstball.

2,500 City making the trip. 1-0 Win - taking all three points back to West Yorkshire thanks to a goal from Smith off his left bollock in the last minute.

If andy cooks on it he will terrify any defence in this division

Sorry to dampen your enthusiasm but that would be impossible as Smith would’ve been sent off before he had the chance to score for having his bollocks out on display, and he could possibly be looking at some time on the register too.

So no Daniels, Inniss, Lavinier, McCann, Brown, Holland, Stevens, Garrick, Taylor, Morton or Deeney for us tomorrow. McAllister & Bernard are back though.

Basically our attacking options are down to just Omotoye (not exactly prolific) and Sully (2nd year scholar). So not expecting a lot of goals.

If your game is not postponed this week-end because of international call ups.
Can you please move this to the tin-pot thread

I forgot we had no Jones to terrorise and bemuse the Bantams fullbacks. Bostock starting is more important than ever

He’s had no service this season - AT ALL! Looks overweight again - which was inevitable after he secured his 3 year deal in the summer

That being said, he’s more than capable of pulling a hattrick out of his arse (see Newport away).

You do realise this is the League 2 forum right? There aren’t a lot of internationals playing down here, for some reason.

We generally aim higher than that
Does not seem to be working.............Maybe re-think your transfer policy of signing 30 odd year olds looking for one last pay day

Both left backs call up for international so we'll be stuck with McAlinden LWB most likely. Always makes me nervous.

Yeah things are going really badly for us to be fair.

Rich of a Bolton fan to make that accusation when you've got promising youngster Cameron Jerome in your squad.

It's 'Latvia Day' on Saturday. I'm off the Crewe to a booze up with Latvian beer and Snax: No idea what to expect but it'll be better than going to watch FGR v Grimsby Town and I will get some meat.

Rovers away at Sutton in a crucial bottom of the table clash, having lost all our league away games this season. Luke Norris picked up another injury and likely to be out for months and we don't have a player of similar calibre to play along Dennis in a front 2. The only way our team of midgets are likely to get something from this game by keeping the ball on the deck, rather than lumping it up to be snaffled by the Sutton giants. Not hopeful but our luck on the road has got to change soon.

Not sure what to make of the game today against Newport.

Looks like they’ve got quite a few injuries and will come to defend i’d imagine (if coughlans football is still as dire as it was here).

If we can get an early goal it’ll ruin their game plan, but we’re not exactly prolific at home and tend to miss a stack of chances, so possibly a frustrating 0-0

When we had a few more fit, healthy and playing we absolutely walked through Newport and won with ease 3-0 and it should and could have been more.

The chances of 0-0 between 3rd placed Mansfield hosting 20th placed Newport are remote. Adam kidding nobody pregame once again. Yawn

We’ve got 3 big players, if anything we’re a bit short on height. 2 centre halves and Smith upfront. Other than that Kizzi only physicality. Our line up fitness permitting will include Beautyman, Coley, Gape all small. Potentially Jackson too who is also a little un. Our keeper on small side for that position too. Pitch starting to deteriorate for the first time since it was dug up so not sure how much on the deck football will be played today - it’ll be very wet. 3 points would be huge for our season and I’d start to get a bit bullish on survival - I think we’ve potentially got a far better side than last season but we need the results to reflect that over the season.

He’s right though, teams that have come here and put every man behind the ball have frustrated us so far, we’ve drew 4 times at home and only just beat Walsall. I agree we should be winning this game but it wouldn’t be that much of a shock if we didn’t to those who actually watch our games anyway. Only difference is Oates is back fit now and we’ve got a 100% home record when he’s been fit

Exactly, oddly or not i’ve an idea of what mansfield have been like this season and it’s a fair point to make (not that it should need explaining). :ffs:

Games at home have been much tighter than some recent away games where we’ve won at a canter. When we’re away sides try to take us on and play an expansive game of football, not recommended. At home sides sit back and be more realistic.

As I said, score a goal early and it’ll be a completely different game, but they’ll come to defend sit back and frustrate.

we do struggle to perform at home, and like mentioned even against Walsall we only just got by.

A comfortable win with a early goal is ideal and may well happen but it’s not beyond Newport to come and frustrate us and get something, like Bradford, Wimbledon, Wrexham.

Mansfield are a much better side away from home, scored more goals away than anyone else.

Can all Mansfield fans on here please take note of this very salient point. Oh and remember it works both ways when talking about clubs, teams, players, managers/head coaches, and owners.

Thank you Adam, although clearly unintentional, much appreciated :brill:.

As for today's game at Field Mill, let's see what the final scoreline is. I don't think an injury ravaged Newport have the ability or personnel to stop the home side from scoring. Let's see if I'm right or wrong.

I once saw Dennis Wise score with his bollocks against Man Utd at Old Trafford. Low, hard ball across the goal area and Wise manfully thrust out his groin to hump it into the back of the net from a yard out. He has 3 kids now so no lasting damage.
