Not often seen a team change styles as much as we have from one season to the next, after finishing 2nd the year before.

It's all about possession, playing it out from the back and trying to pass teams off the pitch, with lots of little technical players all capable of moments of magic. End product still lacking but Tubbs knows where to make the runs and when we click most teams wont live with us.

Goal was lucky, result wasn't. Def deserved it against an average looking Gateshead side who were well organised but offered hardly anything going forward. We bossed the game, esp second half and other then one counter when they hit the bar it was all about whether we could find a breakthrough. And it was the legend that is Dale Bennett who got it. What a player. Head and shoulders the best rb in this league, his pace, commitment and fitness levels are incredible.

I said at that start of this season we would easily beat the poor sides and we have done so. Important game against Lincoln with them being amongst the favourites and is being at home it should be a good marker for where we will be come May.

Based on yesterday I'd say your team is close to last seasons Cheltenham. Very well organised, fit as fleas and work hard as a unit. You'll do well.

Oh dear James. Narrowly escaping a custodial sentence for drink driving must have been a low, but being schooled in how to play centre forward by Andy Bishop is on a whole other dimension of embarrassment.

What's happened to him? Before he got injured against Grimsby he looked a decent player. Hes in danger of his career ending.

But not as incredible as your continuing belief that Swampy's millions can save you from your inevitable return to total obscurity. 1500 to Wembley for the biggest game in your history, already down to 1100 for Saturday matches, even Swampy's not stupid enough not to realise soon that he's chucking his wonga down the toilet. :£

Did Cheltenham lose 3-0 to Chester?
I did clarify with 'based on yesterday'!
Every team has a few bad days.
We had one yesterday but still could have sneaked an undeserved point with better finishing.
Hawkins totally dominated our defenders, we didn't cope with him at all. I was surprised we started centre back Rob Atkinson as he has only played one very rusty half a game in pre season.

Very disappointing day yesterday. Losing Rhead to a hamstring injury followed by the stupid sending off by Wood basically gifted Sutton a huge advantage. Fair play to them, they brought gamesmanship to another level and the officials bought it all day long. However we also fell into a trap where we werent streetwise enough to hold on at 1-1 when down to 10 men. I seriously doubt we would have lost that game with Rhead and Wood on the park and Sutton comfortably did a job on us in the end. Even some of the Sutton fans said how one sided the ref was, but that still doesnt make up for our own inadequacies.

We took 4000 to Wembley.

This is the last time I reply to you though, I don't converse with irrelevant fans of irrelevant tinpot regional league sides. Come back when you play in a proper league again.

Ignore, I think C&B was a bit unfair there. We've been used to rubbish and disappointment for the past few years. We actually look like we have some potential to do well this season. I don't think we'll finish top 5 but I think we'll be between 6 and 10. We're a little raw but from the two games I've seen so far, we have a threat and I think we'll grow into the season. I don't think we're quite Cheltenham as we lack the experience they bought but we will give teams problems this season. I think the Chester score was a little bit of a freak since the first two goals were pretty much worldies. We'll have ups and downs this season but I think we'll be plucky and good to watch along the way.

Although Tranmere beat us with a 96 minute winner scored in the 4 minutes of injury time....i felt they deserved all 3 points, we just got it all wrong on the day & then at 1-1 were not prepared to change anything to either try and win it, or try and hold on to the point we had. We went with a 5 man midfield that contained 2 strikers!! (Constable & Bird) and were totally outplayed in midfield & our 1 upfront was totally isolated, where McFatty played with a cigar on all day. Was quite impressed with Tranmere and i don't see them losing many (if any at all) at home this season. A friendly bunch too, so poor game for us, a cruel late winner, but the right result & a decent place to go watch a football match at this level.

Was one of the 22 heed at the new lawn yesterday, and thought fgr deserved to win with their second half performance, we sat to deep, and got punished in the end by a fluke of a goal, traore and pinnock, look class acts , and like them or loath them fgr, will be be top four this season, me personally, I've always had a good crack at the new lawn, and a like the ground, good away end nice bar at the ground, but honestly Chris Dale Bennett best right back in the league, he's shite, all holding a right dirty twat, and Sutton United fans wots with the hundreds of stickers every where in the away end,? Did you not have enough Brest milk when you were younger , grow up

Great result for Sutton. In control from the start. With key players missing I did think we would struggle. If we can get a few good results at home we should be ok this season.

:fl: Maths not your strong point then, even bloody Morpeth took more to the FA Vase finaI. Going by the stats this week, you'd better start winning soon or you'll be down to 3 figure gates again by September. If we dropped into a Sunday league we'd still be bigger and more relevant than Stepford Whores FC could ever be. :£:£:£

Nice one, cheers. Tbf had you got the first goal then you would probably have won it, we struggled to create much against your strong defence. You looked a bit toothless up top most of the time though, York and Styche worked hard but didn't really achieve that much.

You maybe went a bit too defensive second half, we're a bit iffy at the back getting used to this new style so had you pressed us a bit higher up the pitch you might have caused us more problems. I'll stick the highlights up on the highlights thread, you definitely had a few chances.

Saturday 15th August 2015: Wrexham 3-0 Aldershot Town

Saturday 13th August 2016: Aldershot Town 2-0 Wrexham

Incredible to see the difference a year makes, last year we were absolutely hammered by Wrexham and deserved what we got. Today we seemed to win really comfortably, and even at 2-0 we looked more likely to score. Wrexham didn't play that well but in part that was down to the amount of pressing we did in their half when they were trying to play out from the back - we forced mistakes and were more clinical in front of goal than the previous 2 games. The only downsides today were injuries to Cole and Fenelon (hope they aren't too serious) and losing about 300 home fans from our win on Tuesday which suprised me a bit. Next week we are away to Bromley and Braintree which aren't bad games to have on the back of 2 home wins, although no games are easy in this league.

What was Rooney like ?
They got him from us. We got Durrell from Tamworth, who played for them for 2 seasons
I'm thinking we got the better player, but it's early days yet.

The FGR fans we spot on about Sutton tactics! The ref was very understanding towards even letting them getting with most of it too including an elbow on our players. Real nice touch from the ref before the second half to be having a laugh and joke with them before the second half. He got the sending off right although he didn't see it his assistants did they missed plenty of over antics from both sides. Losing Rhead to injury and Wood to own stupidity really cost us and we didn't going until after half time. We really should have settled for a draw once we went into the last 10 minutes but they were still going for the win.
Disappointing also the crowd dropped around 400 too but 3195 is a still decent effort.
Some of our players need to stop coasting through games too I doubt the Cowleys will suffer them much longer too.

That's an unkind remark to someone who's only trying to be friendly (in his own way).

In a word, anonymous. One clearance off the line is all I can remember from him, certainly didn't make any impact at the end he should have.

First post of the season for me.
No surprise we got beat by our bogey team, Boreham Wood. They looked crap for the first hour, dominated by Moses Emmanuel and Ricky Miller. As soon as Miller got sent off we had no out ball and invited way too much pressure. Arnold had a shocker in net and all in all we deserved to get beat by a poor Boreham Wood side. Can have no complaints with the sending off but hands down the worst refereeing performance I've ever seen. Dover had 3 or 4 penalty shouts that were ignored in the first half, Miller takes a blatant dive and the ref points to the spot??

Saturday was a much better performance but I'm not sure how much we can take from it. I thought we might struggle to create chances without Miller but Lafayette, Emmanuel and Modeste linked up nicely and Lafayette deserved his goal. North Ferriby put in the worst performance I have ever seen from a Conference side and I'll be surprised if they can manage 20 points this season. Bizarrely the 10 away supporters gave their team a standing ovation at the end after watching them create next to nothing for 90 minutes and would have been 5 or 6-0 but for their keeper. I know they're just happy to be playing at this level but if they're going to applaud performances like that they should have taken the voluntary relegation and not bothered wasting everybody's time.

Real test for us in the next 7 days against Eastleigh and Barrow, both of whom I expect to be in and around the play offs come May. I can't help but feel we are a Nicky Deverdics away from being there ourselves.

I agree on North Ferriby - anybody who loses to them this season deserves to have their National League status immediately revoked.

Probably will be someone turd like Woking who lose to them first, young team, not a lot of fighting spirit etc.

Oh my. Best remind us how big a club you are when you bring 50 fans to our 2500 seat away end. I'm sure the sound will dwarf what we had from Leeds, Millwall et all.
