I think Scunthorpe are the true definition of a bogey team for Shrewsbury. We've not won any of the last 17 games against them in all competitions going back to 1998 (5 draws 12 defeats). Our last win in Scunthorpe was when we won the old division 3 title in 1994.

Saying that we go into the game unbeaten in 5 with the new players starting to gel together. I think we may have enough to claim a 1-1 draw with another goal from Freddie Ladapo.

No disrespect to Shrewsbury but if we're serious about our promotion chances we really should be winning this. We have Van Veen back from suspension which is massive, we can hopefully drop the donkeys Toney and Davies and bring Hopper and Van Veen up front. We'll also have Neal Bishop who's red card from Saturday has been overturned. Fingers crossed Sam Mantom is back after being out last week as we really missed his class in midfield.

Whilst Toney & Davies may not prove to be the first names on the team-sheet, it is a little unfair to call them donkeys when they have only been with us for a few weeks & need game time.

I am sure that GA, who spends a lot of time with the players, will make the right decision as to who plays based on his far greater knowledge.

Hopefully we will hammer Shrewsbury. We are due a big win.

Tough game this one. Shrewsbury have picked up and are getting results. We will need to be at our best and if we are then I think we will have too much for them. Anything less than our best, then I think they will get something, more likely a draw. BUT, our unbeaten home record has to go sometime.

I agree with KetIron on Toney & Davies. Both lack match fitness and it shows, but they are both capable strikers, albeit in what appears to be different ways. They would not be the first names on my team-sheet, but I would have them both on the bench. We must start with Van Veen and Hopper, as B Don states. Madden's injury is real and I doubt we will see him for a while. With Williams out on loan at Northampton (disappointing for me) and Wootton at Cheltenham (not bothered really), there is a slot maybe available for Margetts. I wouldn't mind seeing him get some game time. We have plenty of games coming up in a short space of time and the squad might be stretched a little, so I wouldn't give up on him yet.

Hoping we can perform on Saturday. The points are there for the taking. We need to get this inconsistency out of our performances and push on hard now. The finishing post is in sight and it is ours to reach first.

4 points clear to be exact :bg:

Last 10 games
Shrewsbury W5 D2 L3 = 17 Points
Scunthorpe W4 D3 L3 = 15 Points
As mentioned above though Scunthorpe are our bogey team who we have not beaten in the league since 1994................

If you offered us a point I'd snap your arm off... Toney aka "Bambi on Ice" is bound to score whether he starts or comes off the bench. I'll predict an optimistic 1-1, Toney and Roberts the scorers

Well done the Mighty Shrews!

What a turn around. No disrespect but based on performances against us you were easily the worse team we've played this season. Real men against boys stuff.

Just shows what the new manager has done since.
Your form is really good and you're pulling away from the relegation zone. Scunnie haven't lost at home for about 1 year so this win sends a message to the league that Shrewsbury are much better than their position suggests.

What a shocking performance. We were absolutely terrible. Poor tactics, poor individual performances and poor finishing. Don't think a single of our players played well today.

Shrewsbury completely deserved the win, their players seemed to want it more and Hurst got his tactics spot on. Congrats on the win.

Not very optimistic about us going forward now, without Jordan Clarke and Sam Mantom we look pathetic.

Just got home, what a win that was! Fully deserved and everyone played their part. Fantastic save from Leutwiler to preserve the points at the end.

Oxford must have some attacking talent for Tyler Roberts not to have had a look in during the first half of the season. Great effort to keep the ball in on the touch line before finding his way into the box and teeing up Ladapo and his dancing in front of the away end.

Still a long way to go, but starting to look good for survival now if we can keep this form up.

Agree with that. The home game against you boys was truly embarrassing. Although our performance against Northampton was worse.

Hurst has done a great job since coming in at the end of October. It just goes to show what you can do with sticking to a settled formation and playing players in their right positions. We're a much different team now compared to the early part of the season.

This week could cement our place at the top of the league. That said we have an away day at Brizzel on Tuesday following an away game at P'boro yesterday. Not sure if Scunny are playing mid week but Wilder may have to make full use of the squad. Three matches in a week aren't ideal.

Are Scunny playing mid-week ?

Very good professional performance from Shrewsbury. Goalie saved the win with a great save near the end. Another tight game (0-1 to us earlier in the season), but we were very poor this time. Need to improve quickly.
